Well, there's some truth to that. However, I think it all depends on how you invest that time. This education is all about knowing what to expect in the future so that you can do what you want to manage it in advance. I admire and applaud you for being so proactive and taking control of your health. And, I love helping you!
Well, you are just as awesome, and you DESERVE to have this education. I'm just giving you what you should have had years ago. I can't believe that I'm the only person on this planet doing this in a truly, useful, unbiased manner. I'll keep it up.
Menopause Taylor I think you are the only person providing an unbiased approach! 😊 ...and I really appreciate it and most of all I TRUST your educational videos. Ps: just ordered a balance disc! I need it!
I'm so happy to have found you. Somebody mentioned you in the comments of another person's video. I'm new here so, I'm doing as I've been told and going to video 1. You're something special, thank you!
Oh, I am so sorry for this tardy reply. The TH-cam comments on my end are supposed to line up all the new ones so that I don’t have to search for them one-video-at-a-time. And most of the time, it works. But occasionally (as in this case), a comment doesn’t appear in the line-up. I apologize profusely for the delay. I respond to these comments daily, and I feel so badly that I missed your very first one! Please forgive me.
Menopause Taylor oh my goodness, lady, you do not have to apologize! You are so giving of your time and effort, your care, concern and love of women is loud, beautiful and very, clearly genuine. I glean much from the videos and probably even more from the comment section accompanying each video BECAUSE of your tirelessly kind dedication. I'm blessed by your commitment and I thank you 💕🙏
You make us women feel special with this specific information for us, i just pray all women especially young ones start to watch your videos to make them AWARE . Bless you
You ARE special. And I[m giving you the education you deserve. I think it's a shame that no one has ever given you the vital information you need. My dream is for all women to get this education in their 20s and 30s. I'm creating specific products by decade to teach women what they need to know. The biggest hurdle of all is getting women to take the time to get this education, whether by attending my two-day seminar, watching the seminar on demand, reading my book, or watching these videos. I'm trying to provide every educational resource, regardless of timeline, learning style, or budget. I applaud you for being proactive in getting this education for yourself. Just tell all the women you love to join you.
You are the best teacher!! You are original and makes things fun and interesting. I love that you are brave enough to be yourself. Thank you for sharing stories from your adventures 😊
Thank you what a lovely tutorial and so light hearted too 😀😀😀. I see your followers are certainly growing and that is so exciting as more women are listening, talking and becoming aware of you! Awesome to see Barbie 💕
Dr Taylor you are so smart(an understatement) , extremely funny, so pretty and the world's best and greatest menopause educator. All the women of the world should applaud you for your passion, commitment and your life saving messages on this topic. Thank you so so so much.
"Put on your thinking cap!" Love it. I started learning Dutch on Duolingo the summer of 2019. Things just got crazier and crazier and then this year got really strange so I stopped. You have encouraged me to start evercising my brain again. I also like to do word searches, read about health and fitness stuff to learn how to take care of myself because most doctors dont. I am also reading about politics/government which I have NEVER been a fan of but with everything going on in 2020, I am definately challenging and exercising my brain learning about it all. You have such beautiful moist skin. I am sure you do not sun bathe at all. My skin is soft because since I was young, I have used Nivea from Holland. But it is not moist and dewy looking like yours and when it is, it's because my hormones are whack and makes my skin oily. Living in southeast Texas doesn't help either. Lol. Your story was hilarious. Hot sexy condom burgers. LOL!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
But most people do not adequately exercise their brains in a way that can prevent Alzheimer's. In the Alzheimer's unit, I will make absolutely sure you understand what it takes (and it's not nearly as easy as you imagine). Thank you for the compliment about my skin. And you are right.nI am an anti-sun goddess who wears a hat every time I go outdoors (a fashion hat, of course).
Thank you Barbie for this gift. So happy and grateful I found you! Just started taking my chasteberry today at 52 and post menopausal. Starting my don quai on Tuesday. 🌸🌹🌺
Hi Antoinette, can you please help me as Barbie won’t answer my simple question. I’m trying to go through these videos and reading the book but it’s taking a while. I am perimenopausal and do not wish to take any drugs to help me during this stage and menopause. What do you do exactly? I am having flax seeds, tempeh, chickpeas regularly for oestrogen but obviously must take something to promote progesterone. Is chaste berry the only natural answer to that? Do you take the powder and how much do you take? What else do you take for oestrogen promotion? I have also read that star flower oil helps balance the hormones during this stage, do you take any other hormone balancing supplements. Thanks very much for any help.
I loved your language class "oopsies!" Like someone else mentioned, I wish you would share more of your entertaining memories. I literally laughed out loud, (fortunately I was by myself, so no one was frightened, lol) at the thought of your reaction when your brother explained "the birds and the bees" to you! I love your personal fashion style and your zest for learning and adventure. My question today is concerning vitamins and supplements. I'm wondering what vitamins and supplements you recommend. I take quite a few individual supplements but would love to hear your take on what you consider to be the most important. I'm sure many of us would love to see an entire vitamin, mineral and supplement video tutorial. Thanks!
I have vitamin, mineral, and dietary supplement videos coming up for you. They're videos 120 - 124. I think you'll love knowing what I have to share. Personally, I'm vegan. All vegans need to take B vitamins, especially Vitamin B 12. So, that's what I take routinely. I've tried everything at one time or another, but depending on where I'm living, I modify things from time to time.
Thank you again. I have always wanted to learn French, now I feel I must for my brain preservation! Loved your story about Spanish class, you are so cute! Looking forward to next week. 💗
If you learn French, I'll communicate with you in French on these comments (but only to the extent that I can be sure you understand me). Go ahead, start a French class. It's a blast.
You are an amazing person! You also should write a book about your life, i loved the story and I know exactly what you mean;), I went to study English when i immigrated but shortly after I got two jobs and no driving license yet so I couldn’t get to school, but I picked up a language very fast while working,it’s the best way to learn I think , practice. Thank you for all you do!!
You are so very welcome, Susanna. I love it when I encounter people, like you, who have lived more than just one way. It's a lot like managing your menopause! There's more than one way to do it.
Menopause Taylor is going to go down in history as one of the most important forces of good for women's health. This information is unbiased and sound. Please share with the women in your life. Also, if you are active on social media and know of anyone seeking help, refer them to her channel. I'm on reddit and I've shared her site several times. She explains things in a way that makes it easy to understand.
You're making me cry, my dear. Thank you so much for recognizing how important this education is. I am on a mission to give women the education they deserve. I'll be doing this for the rest of my life.
I have osteoporosis and unfortunately, a tea lover. My ears perked up when you mentioned the matcha green tea....a little confused though since green tea also has caffeine in it. I know there is less but still caffeine....
Yes, but there are different kinds of caffeine. In the case of green tea, the benefits from the antioxidants outweigh any detriments from the caffeine.
I exercise my brain by playing board games with my 19 year old son. He likes those complicated games with lots of rules, not the easy stuff like Monopoly or Sorry. So I am combining quality time with my family with training my brain, it's a win-win ; )
Oh what a GREAT video! I learned and I laughed. I learned to fit myself to sew my own clothes and take machine embroidery classes. Thank you for continuing to educate me to manage my menopause my way.
You are so very welcome, my dear. I'm a seamstress, too. We are so rare these days! You can probably tell by my clothing that I make a lot of my garments.
Thank-You so very much for this video. I discovered your You Tube channel way past my window of opportunity. I have been hoping that you would do some for those of us that missed our chance to take estrogen to help prevent osteoporosis, alzheimer's, and heart disease. Again, THANK-YOU!

And most of the time, it works. But occasionally (as in this case), a comment doesn’t appear in the line-up. I apologize profusely for the delay. Susan, no woman is without options. If you have my book, I have a full chapter on each disease, along with all the options in all the categories: Diet, Exercise, Lifestyle, Vitamins, Minerals, Botanicals, Herbs, Acupuncture, Hypnosis, Hormonal Medication, and Non-Hormonal Medications. If you don't have my book, you can come to my seminar on September 22 & 23 (all day both days) or you can buy the entire seminar on DVD at my website (MenopauseTaylor.ME). I present and show samples and props of all the options. Alternatively, if you'd like me to tailor everything to YOU, you can schedule a one-on-one consultation. If you want a consultation, go to MenopauseTaylor.ME to schedule one. I do them on Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, as well as in-person. You can include all the things you want to cover when you fill out the form, and then send me any labs or tests you've had. That way, I can incorporate everything into the session. I'll create a personalized document addressing all your concerns, and send it to you at least one day before our session. That way, you 'll have time to read it in advance. It's usually 6 - 12 pages long. Then, I'll have all sorts of props and models to show you during the consultation, and we'll make great headway. You'll understand everything and have all the options tailored specifically to YOU.
Thank you so much my dear. Welcome to Menopause University. (I think you're new to my channel.) If you start with video 1 and watch them all in order, you will understand absolutely everything. Each one builds on the last, and you just have to learn the material in order if you don't want to sabotage your entire menopause education. If you need my help in tailoring all the facts specifically to YOU, just schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME.

Thank you for your kind comments. You're a doll.
Dear Dr. Barbie, you are an inspiration altogether, no matter what subject you approach. I so much enjoyed your Spanish school story that I forgot where I was and who I were. I could listen to you for hours. Have you ever thought of writing your memories? I could say I even forgot about what you presented in the first part of the video, which's very useful information (not for me, as I'm wearing my combo patch - thanks to you - but for my mom that never had the chance to get educated on this matter by someone like you, and now, in her late 70s confronts with the osteoporosis. Her cholesterol is also high and I was wondering if it's also related to the lack of estrogen, as she has a pretty healthy diet?). Thank you so much that you exist and kisses from Canada!! xoxo

I am curious why you emphasized balance exercise for preserving bones, and didn't mention muscle resistance exercises, as I thought muscle resistance not only builds and maintains muscles but also the bones they are attached to. Love your quirkiness, emphasis on critical thinking, logic and reason, as well as encoragement for people to do things their way.
All exercise contributes to bone QUALITY, not bone QUANTITY. The problem is that most of the information you get is general rather than specific. Everything I teach you is specific for precisely the topic at hand. Generalizations will get you into trouble because you will assume you are accomplishing something that you are not accomplishing. If you want to be sure you really know what each option CAN and CANNOT do FOR YOU, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I do them all online.
@@MenopauseTaylor This is/was not meant to be an attack, so I hope you don't take it that way. I think your content and message is very valuable and well done. I agree with your assessment of generalizations and need for specificity, and people getting into trouble thinking they are accomplishing something when they are not. Yes, I probably shouldn't have been so general as re-reading it I see how it could be misunderstood as saying building muscle will automatically build adjacent bone, and that's not what I meant. I was trying to be concise, which is challenging for a detail-oriented person like me. Respectfully, I suggest that your absolute statement that "All exercise contributes to bone QUALITY, not bone QUANTITY" is also inaccurate and too general. I did a quick search on PubMed and verified I was recalling what I did mean correctly. I am sure you have more complete access to the literature, so if you do a search for yourself you would be able to read the full texts of some of the more recent papers as well as the ones published a decade or so older. There are quite a few scientific studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses on studies (including randomized controlled trials) that indicate exercise (mostly strength and resistance training) increases in BMD in the test subjects. Well, anyway, you might want to check them out and see what you think of the data. Of course these were studies, trials, etc and almost always the exercise was supervised and very specific. They were generally more successful in certain bone locations than others (rather than the whole body), so not exactly something to create expectations for people generally to achieve overall increased BMD at home. Still, it still seems to me that resistance exercises would be something to include in exercises for maintaining bones as part of menopause management. That is what I meant. I would post some links, but cannot post links here, so will cite just one. It is the most recent one I saw and should serve as starting place to get more links via the papers reviewed and the reference list. I could only get an abstract on this one, but was able to read full texts on others (so I'm not going only on abstracts). Anyway, here it is: Hejazi, K., Askari, R. & Hofmeister, M. Effects of physical exercise on bone mineral density in older postmenopausal women: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. Arch Osteoporos17, 102 (2022). Now that I think I have cleared that up with more specifics... I do want to let you know I had planned (and still do plan) to initiate a consult with you next week, when I will have more time to gather and submit everything. I have been enjoying watching your channel in the meantime. Thanks for all you do! I'll be in touch!
@@sheryl3268 The great thing about this education is that you can use it (or refuse it) as you please. You never have to justify your choices to anybody. There is nothing that is right for all women. the goal is to manage YOUR menopause YOUR way, and let other women do the same.
Thank you for the menopause education...it has been so eye opening. Would you consider deep diving into learning how to eat a plant based diet, educating oneself on menopause, etc.....translate into the kind of learning that you say preserves our brain or does it have to be more scholastic like a language? Although for someone like me who was raised on midwest junk food diet, I think learning how to eat plant based is definitely going to challenge my brain...lol!
I cover all these things. But I deliver everything in units. As long as you start with video #1 and watch them all in order, you will see that I leave nothing unaddressed.
Thank you for the short version. I have a question that I hope you will address in the brain preservation series on diet, You stated unprocessed grains. Is there anything else for those of us on a starch free diet? Before you convert grain free to gluten free. This diet came about because I googled beer & osteoarthritis & found that beer increases inflamation by 40% & wine decreased inflamation by 52% & the reason is beer retains starch from grains & it is starch that raises inflamation. And factually this diet has worked tremendously well at reducing inflamation and pain.
Fi you can't eat unprocessed grains, you should know that the so-called "gluten-free" options are even more processed than the ones that contain gluten. So, you'd be better off just eating fresh foods. There's really nothing in between.
Oh I loved that story! As an American expat I will probably always find something new to say wrong. Trying to say 'it is hot' seems to be a challenge, for English speakers, in so many languages. Where I live it is: it is hot to me. Saying the word combination 'I'm hot' means 'I'm sexy', just like in French. A girl learns very quickly to never make that language mistake. ;-)
So true! And there are many other funny faux pas. When I was a resident in Ob/Gyn, a Vietnamese colleague of mine, who spoke English as a second language said, "Don't run around the bus and beat it" when he meant to say, "Don't beat around the bush." And I also want around France saying, "My heart years for you" (in the sexual sense) instead of "I missed you" when I hadn't seen someone for a while. I've done all sorts of things to embarrass myself.
DR taylor how I enjoy watching your tutorials, I have follow along it seems I'm not having any luck with hormone replacement though all I've tried are bhrt, still the weight gain has been horrible ever since on them 4 months and I'm 30 pounds more than I started this is so disappointing and discouraging, don't know what to do 🤦♀️
Menopause itself causes weight gain. At menopause our metabolism slows down a bunch, and your body starts storing fat in your abdominal area. (We have a name for it: "Truncal obesity.") Weight gain is worse off HRT. So, this is a time when it will take much more to maintain your weight at the ideal limit. In most cases, weight gain means you need more estrogen (and possibly less progesterone).
Barbie , you are so funny and I really needed this. I could have done with you in my house for the past few weeks as my 2 boys were doing state exams and that really tests your brain. You see here you have to reach a number of points to get into college and the higher you get the better course you do. My 18 year old has had 7 subjects with 10 papers. Some lasting 2 1/2 hours and one english paper that lasted 3 hrs and 20 mins. He did a biology paper and he was asking about the hormones and I told him the daddy . mommy and baby bear story thanks to you. He is in a business exam now and next Tuesday is chemistry the final one TG. So he will start college in September and won't know what course he will be doing until the week after he gets his results which is mid August or which college he will be going . [great isn't it ]. My younger boy had 11 papers and 1 left, German tomorrow. This is the junior cert which is preparation for the leaving cert which he will do when he is 18. So it has been stressful but thanks to HRT and you I am sailing through it HA HA . I loved this video and we need some more like this one especially on supplements.. My vitamin D was too high I think I am the only one in Ireland as we don't get the sun so I stopped the supplement. Thanks again.
Lorraine, You have been as busy as your boys! I'll be giving you lots more videos on dietary supplements. Videos 119 - 124 are all on supplements. I've already shot them, but they won't air for a while.
Hilarious stories about yourself! I LOL...I am a learner and at 61 finding learning to not come as quick but I still persevere because I'm very curious. I need to eat cleaner although my eating habits are not terrible.
I think you are a great student, and the fact that you are a student of "Menopause University" is an attestation to your thirst for knowledge. I love having you here. And I can tell that you're grasping this information just fine.
My OBGYN suggested I take 2000mg of vit D3 daily for bone health. I keep reading that you should also take vit K along with vit D3. Vit K I read can help direct calcium to the bones and prevent it from being deposited in wrong areas. What is your advice? I am currently on HRT O.05 vivelle dot patch and 100 mg of progesterone.
It all depends on how much Vitamin K you get in you diet. If you get enough, you don't need more. If you don't, you should supplement. (But this is true of all vitamins, minerals and supplements. People are deluding themselves into thinking that synthetic supplements from a bottle can do anything come to what real supplements in food can do.)
Your so funny. I'm learning much of what I already do for my health diet.exercise supplements and now become more strict about is even more beneficial and does more to keep myself functioning properly then I realized thanks so much It helps that I can't stay out of those rabbit holes and my husband who's 57 loves languages we're looking to adopt a.heeler mix bigger dog different breed trates and puppies really help with mood management as well
You look awesome in that purple!Hilarious stories about the Spanish! I used to speak a little Spanish and Japanese. I am Cuban Swedish and Japanese. But I have to spoken it in years, In Hawaii it is 60% Asian and mostly Japanese so taking Japanese would help my brain! I never studied it. My hubby and I would both love to study Japanese. He is Cantonese and speaks 2 dialects of Chinese but English is his first language. Anyway the language thing is a great idea! Also an instrument. NYC has more Puerto Ricans than San Juan a fact you can on Wikipedia. So Spanish should be easy since I used to speak it but I barely remember anything except food. Just hilarious about the Spanish classes!
I've watched every one of your videos . . . in order! They are so helpful since both osteoporosis and Alzheimers run in our family! Since watching and learning from you, I was curious if my mom's breast cancer was estrogen receptor positive. Her Hereptitest reads "equivocal (2+)" whatever that means. Does that put me possibly more at risk for breast cancer that is estrogen receptor positive? Is that a stronger risk than just the normal "she's my mom so I'm at risk" risk?
The estrogen-receptor positive designation tells you the KIND of breast cancer she has, or at least one characteristic of it. (There are many characteristics to assess.) So, that does not change your risk. Because she's your mom, it increases your risk from 1 in 7 to 1 in 4. But that is only one of many of the risk factors. You still have to take into account all the other risk factors (some of which you can't change, and others that you can). There are so many misconceptions about estrogen and breast cancer that confuse women. Here are the facts: Your breasts have ALWAYS responded to hormones. They grew at puberty because of hormones. You had breast pain and breast growth during pregnancy because of hormones. You had breast swelling and breast pain with PMS because of hormones. So, your breasts are supposed to respond to hormones. Few women know the real risk factors for breast cancer. Here they are: 1) Personal history of breast cancer 2) Family history of breast cancer ... BUT, the ONLY relatives that contribute in any way to this risk are your MATERNAL, FIRST-DEGREE relatives. That means, only your mother, your sister, and your daughter. That's it. No one else matters. And your sister has to have your same mother. None of your father's relatives have anything to do with your risk for breast cancer. 3) Age: Your risk increases with age, period! 4) Age at the time of your 1st full-term pregnancy. The older you were, the greater your risk. 5) Number of pregnancies. The fewer you've had, the greater your risk. 6) Age at which you had your first period. The younger you were, the greater your risk. 7) Age at which you began post-menopause. The older you were, the greater your risk. NOTE: Factors 4 - 7 are all about only one thing: The number of menstrual periods you've had in your lifetime. The more you've had, the greater your risk, period! Now, think about how ironic that is. The women who have had the highest levels of estrogen are the women who have had the most pregnancies. Yet, they are the women with the lowest risks of breast cancer. If estrogen caused breast cancer, the reverse would be true. 8) Smoking 9) Activity level. The less active you are, the higher your risk. 10) Body weight. The heavier you are, there greater your risk. 11) Diet. The more fat (animal fat) in your diet, the greater your risk. 12) Benign breast disease. This is simply because it makes it more difficult to diagnose breast cancer. 13) Alcohol consumption. Those 2 glasses of red wine per day that decrease a heart attack increase your risk for breast cancer. 14) Exposure to intense radiation, like radiation therapy. 15) Dense breasts, which are characteristic of women who have not had children. Okay, so putting this into perspective, most of what you've heard about estrogen causing breast cancer is untrue. Not only do women spread that misinformation among themselves, the WHI study that came out in 2002 had findings that you never heard about. Here's what you did not hear about the WHI study: The women who took estrogen all by itself (because they did not have their uteri) had lower rates of breast cancer. That's another piece of evidence that supports the fact that it's the CYCLES of estrogen AND progesterone that increases your risk for breast cancer, not estrogen all by itself. Knowing these facts can help you so much. Here's what you're left with: Taking HRT will help prevent (1) heart attack, (2) osteoporosis, and (3) Alzheimer's. Taking HRT does not cause breast cancer. If you don't take HRT, and you get one of these other diseases, as well as all the symptoms of menopause, will that make you happier, or not? Thinking about this will help you arrive at your answer. I think knowing the facts and being able to weigh them for yourself is the most important thing of all.
Oh my goodness! How kind you are to so thoroughly address my concerns and YES, it does all make sense and being able to weigh the facts is invaluable. THANK YOU SO MUCH! You are a blessing! :)
I loe it when a light bulb goes off and you realize how important this education is. And everything SHOULD make sense. If you watch my videos in order starting with the very first one, you will understand absolutely everything. I promise!
I read a book by a neurologist. There are neurotransmitters you can take for your brain. Alpha GPC is a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
If I’ve been on HRT for a while, I’m 54 and have a very big genetic situation with Alzheimers. I can’t remember when i started HRT, menopause wasn’t a big landmark for me because I was on continuous pill... 3 months and 1 week off for migraines so menopause want a huge change. Is it too late to change this? I am pretty sure I’m not getting enough estrogen for years.
Stephanie, It is not too late. All options are available to you. However, you will benefit yourself most if you schedule a consultation with me before you make any changes or see you doctor. I will make sure you know precisely how to go about getting what you want. There are so many pitfalls, and I will prevent you from burning any bridges. If you want my help, just schedule a consultation at MenopauseTaylor.ME
I had lunch with a girlfriend today who was pretty upset because her dr told her she could no longer use compounded hrt because her uterus lining had thickened. They did a biopsy and some procedure under anthesia to scrape her uterus I believe. Anyway, she is feeling awful since she went off the hrt. I told her all about your menopause videos. She asked me if you had any insight on if just because her uterus lining thickened made her no longer a candidate for hrt. Do any of your videos cover this? I have watched so many of them but I dont remember one of a thickened uterus lining autimatically disqualifies hrt use.
Tell your girlfriend to schedule a consultation with em at MenopauseTaylor.ME. Her situation requires tailoring everything specifically to HER. No video can do that. I do them all online.
Cute story! Thanks for the tips for us gals who are beyond the window. Would you say the SERMS are safe to take ?.....I am asking because, I have heard that all of the drugs that we are taking are the main reason that we are getting dementia and destroying our livers. I would love to hear your thoughts on that.
SERMs are a great option for preventing bone loss. When you write "all the drugs" you are being very general. Generalizations will get you into trouble. Think of it like this: If you take a statin drug for high cholesterol INSTEAD of eating a 100% plant-based diet, you are really putting yourself at a lot of risk when you could be avoiding the need for the drug in the first place. The same is true of most things. However, there are times when NOT taking the drug puts you at more risk than taking the drug. I would say that people's lifestyle and food choices are putting them at the greatest risk of all. People want a pill to fix everything that they aren't willing to do themselves. If you have to choose taking a SERM or breaking your hip, go for the SERM! The risk of a hip fracture is greater than the risks of the SERM. You have to balance benefits against risk for each and every thing. No generalizations. I'm happy to help you do this with anything. I do one-on-one consultations (in person, on Skype, on FaceTime, on Facebook Messenger), and you can schedule on my website if you need me.
Lol that was a great story ! Funny experience 😂 let’s see I’m back in school with a bunch of 20 year olds 🤪.. and I’m homeschooling my kids since everything’s online ! and I do yoga, barre and walking - so “presertivos” for the brain and bones - ☑️☑️!! 😂
How much do calcium supplements help? My gyn wants me to get 1500 mg calcium daily, but only 600 from supplements and the rest from food. She counts "calcium enriched/added" as a supplement. I checked all the "calcium richest foods" on her list, and they are all dairy, which my digestion does not tolerate (gas and bloating from milk and yogurt; heartburn from cheeses). I can't eat enough veggies to make the recommended calcium level. I am also at the gym 3 days a week working with a trainer but I've been doing that since before menopause and it doesn't seem to have prevented osteopenia.
This is all wrong! First, dairy products contain very little calcium. In fact, the countries with the highest dairy consumption have the worst bone health. Green leafy vegetables have the most calcium. Dairy products have the most unhealthy animal fat. Stop ingesting the dairy. It makes your body acidic. And when your body is acidic, it looks for a way to neutralize the acid. Calcium is a great mineral for neutralizing acid. But, guess what? Dairy products don't contain enough calcium to neutralize the acid, so guess where your body gets the calcium it needs to neutralize the acid? From your bones!!!!! You do need 1500 mg of calcium daily. And your body can only absorb about 500 mg at a time. So, you need to get the calcium in divided dosages throughout the day. You can get it from a supplement and/or from your food. Calcium will NOT prevent osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is loss of bone. That's QUANTITY. Calcium only strengthens your bone. That's bone QUALITY. If you rely only on calcium, you'll have strong bone ... but you'll still lose it. Be sure to watch video 112 when it airs. It's called "The Dirt on Dairy." I'll address your "intolerance of dairy."
@@MenopauseTaylor Although I learned many years ago about cheese losing calcium in the process of making it, I have never, ever heard of milk and yogurt lacking calcium. Did this come from a study?
@@sarak6860 They do not LACK calcium. They just don't contain the best sources or highest quantities of calcium. And the fact that your body becomes acidic in trying to digest them is key. Your body takes calcium from your bones to neutralize acid.
Yes, brown rice and dried wheat berries are okay.
Hi, i have a pituitary tumor, prolactin is high and lost my period for five months and tests read post menopause. I wonder if the levels are off due to my adenoma. Do you have a vid on this xo
There is no video on this, nor will there be. This is the kind of thing that warrants a one-on-one consultation. It requires tailoring YOUR specific information to the facts. Please consider scheduling one if you want my help.
Omg 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣thank you I couldn’t stop laughing. Spanish is my first language. Thank you for the information for all you do to teach us and on top of that make us laugh 😂
Or work gives you an alternate task to do which allows you to work from home....lots of brain farts at first. Still have them, but kinda figured it out. Got my bones covered with supplements and diet Would love to be more active but I seem to be two puzzles in a generic box and neuromuscular neurologist will try to solve both, along with a, hopefully soon, rheumatologist...
You'll eventually get to the osteoporosis videos and discover that there is no way you can have your bones covered by diet and supplements. This is one of the big pitfalls for many women. Please do not fall prey to thinking they are capable of preventing bone loss. They are not. And if you ever have a consultation with me, I'll make sure you never fracture.
I guess my life has been very entertaining. I have lots of stories for you. I'm glad these videos are entertaining.
Thank you, thank you! This was exactly the video I needed to see. I've been watching your series, but when I got to the Estrogen and realized I've missed my window of opportunity, I didn't think there was much available to me (still having hot flashes at age 63 & recently forgetfulness due to a side effect of gabapentin I've taken for a back injury last year). I was particularly excited to see phytoestrogens mentioned as a possibility, which leads me to believe that a healthy woman can take black cohosh + progesterone even after the window has closed, correct? Otherwise, almost all of these tips I've implemented: nutritious clean diet, key supplements like Vit. C, D Mag + bone broth. I just wish I could get rid of these darn hot flashes! Thanks again Dr. Taylor and have a blessed day! xoxo Cheryl
No woman is ever out of options. And I never want you to feel like you're doomed. The very reason I cover every category of options is to make sure you realize that there are many ways to manage your menopause: Diet, Exercise, Lifestyle, Vitamins, Minerals, Botanicals, Herbs, Acupuncture, Hypnosis, Hormonal Medication, and Non-Hormonal Medications. . Some are more effective than others. Some produce more immediate results than others. And no matter what, every single one of then has both advantages and disadvantages. My goal is to help you tailor your options so that you do what is most beneficial and least risky FOR YOU. One of the things you should be sure to do is distinguish between progesterone's role in your post-menopause and estrogen's role in your post-menopause. You mention Black Cohosh. It is an herb that women use for some of the beneficial effects of estrogen, but it does not contain estrogen. But you also mention progesterone. And the one and only reason any post-menopausal woman needs progesterone is to protect her uterus against uterine cancer. Other than that, progesterone makes most women feel yucky. There are three sex hormones: Testosterone, Estrogen, and Progesterone. The three hormones are like The Three Bears. You know how each bear had his or her own bed, chair, & porridge? Well, each hormone belongs to only one member of the family, just like each bed, chair, & bowl of porridge. Testosterone is the male hormone. It belongs to Papa Bear. Estrogen is the female hormone. It belongs to Mama Bear. Progesterone is the hormone of pregnancy. It belongs to Baby Bear. So, progesterone is NOT YOUR hormone. It's the baby's hormone. Pro -gester-one literally means "hormone in support of pregnancy). (Video 9) The ONLY reason you produce progesterone or ever needed progesterone was to support a pregnancy. While you have all three in your body, the one that your body depends on more than anything is estrogen. Progesterone’s only purpose before menopause is to support a pregnancy. Other than that, it has no other function. So, contrary to what most people assume, progesterone is not your hormone. It's for the baby. Each month, during your menstrual cycles, estrogen thickens the lining inside your uterus and progesterone keeps it thick and ready to cushion a baby should you get pregnant. If you don’t get pregnant, progesterone drops, making the thick uterine lining shed. (It’s like estrogen is the fertilizer and progesterone is the lawnmower.) Now that you're post-menopausal, the ONLY reason to take progesterone is to protect your uterus from uterine cancer. Period. If you do not have your uterus, there's no reason whatsoever to take progesterone. And progesterone is the hormone that makes women feel yucky. It's the hormone that gives you all those awful symptoms of early pregnancy (nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, bloating, weight gain, acne, depression). And it's the hormone of PMS (moodiness, depression, bloating, cravings, etc.). You should know that I do one-on-one consultations. What I've given you above is a very tiny example of what I would do in a one-on-one consultation. I make sure you take erecting into account so that you don't waste any time pursuing something that will merely frustrate you. If you ever want me to personalize everything specifically for YOU, just schedule one on my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME. I do them on Skype, FaceTime, and Facebook Messenger. You can include all the things you want to cover when you fill out the form, and then send me any labs or tests you've had. That way, I can incorporate everything into the session. I'll create a personalized document addressing all your concerns, and send it to you at least one day before our session. That way, you'll have time to read it in advance. It's usually 6 - 12 pages long. Then, I'll have all sorts of props and models to show you during the consultation, and we'll make great headway. You'll understand everything and have all the options tailored specifically to YOU.
Thank you so much for that detailed reply. Yes, I remember from your video about herbals that progesterone protects the uterus - and I still have mine. I will absolutely go to your website. And I was having acupuncture earlier this year to help the damaged nerve in my back and he gave me a couple of needles for the hot flashes and they did help. Thanks again.!!
Ginkgo does help with your memory in the short term, and it can have long-term benefits, too. But it is not as effective as estrogen or challenging your brain with difficult tasks.
You are very lucky! It means that you are caught up, watching these videos in order, as they air. I'm just so happy to be given you the education you deserve.
I love this video about preserving brain and bone. I am newly inspired in lots of ways and laughed hard at your language school stories (reminds me of going around Northern India saying “Acha” thinking I was saying “Yes” when I was really saying “Chutney”)! Thank you for the laugh! What I also REALLY want to know is: How come your skin looks so fabulously springy? I’m lean but I have jowls on my face that make me look like Droopy the Dog. I figure it is a collagen thing, and I note that this collagen thing took a turn for the worse at peri-menopause. Though, my early adult years were spent living in Noosa (I know you have lived there too) so perhaps sun exposure may have something to do with it. When I Google dietary sources of collagen I find recipes for bone broth! I’ve been vegan since 11 years old so I’d rather not start boiling animal carcasses and I’m not convinced that consuming collagen will translate to having more collagen in my skin anyway. I don’t drink, smoke or drink caffeine and have a whole food diet. How can I get my springy skin back? Frankly, this is not merely about the aesthetics as I appreciate that my skin is a reflection of what is going on in the ligaments which are holding my bones and organs in place. In this regard, I feel it is relevant to any discussion on bone health. What sage advice to you have, please? :D
Springy! I like that term. I do think being vegan has a lot to do with skin, but so does genetics. And the absolute most impactful factor of all is the sun. I wear a hat every single day, uno matter what. Big, full-brimmed fashion hats. So, I get no sun at all. Other than that, I don't do much. I don't wear make-up, and I use Cetaphil Lotion and Vaseline on my face. (And the cosmetology people cringe when they discover that I use Vaseline.) In my case, my skin many be "springy," but my bones are not! I have severe arthritis, which is why I retired from practicing gynecology. When I was diagnosed in 2001, I was told I'd be an invalid in a wheelchair. Well, I decided that just was not going to happen. So, I exercise (v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y), with no impact at all. So, my X-rays are atrocious. I'm a train wreck in the joint department. One of my goals i to teach you how to manage your menopuase with excellent outcomes just as I've done with my arthritis. Thank you so much for your lovely comment.
Thank you again for another great video!! I have a serious question: Been on HRT (Estradiol 1 mg) since last June. I had gone off of Estradiol briefly because of naturopaths talking me into how Progesterone solves all problems. I was MISERABLE using Progesterone and found you on the internet. I've stated before but it is because of YOU that i went back on Estradiol which i really needed. I'm 56 and very very irregular, very light periods, i don't know if i'm done with them yet. My question is: Any form of progesterone (EXCEPT maybe a small amount of the topical) greatly worsens my mood disorders to the point where i almost cannot function. Progestin was an absolute nightmare so now my GYN has me on 100 mg Prometrium. I've been inserting that vaginally but IT STILL worsens my mood disorder so i dropped that for a small amount of topical Progesterone. I am one of those termed Progesterone intolerant and i do not know what to do, my body and brain need Estrogen so sometimes i wish i had a hysterectomy so i don't have to deal with Progesterone...but..i still have my uterus. This is a very real problem. Since you're a physician, i'm sure you come across this. Do you have any advice?
Yes, I hear this a lot. Progesterone is the hormone that makes us feel yucky ... during pregnancy, at the time of PMS, and with HRT. You have a few options: (1) You can try different forms, brands, and dosages of progesterone. (2) You can take Duavee. It consists of a low dose of estrogen along with a SERM. And you can use it without progesterone. It's designed for use without progesterone. (In my opinion, this may be your best option.) (3) You can have a hysterectomy, which, of course, has its own risks. I discussed Duavee in videos 34 & 35. It may be the thing for you. If you need me for a one-on-one consultation, I can do on w with you (in person or on Skype, FaceTime, or Facebook Messenger). You can schedule it on my website.
Oh, I am so sorry for this tardy reply. The TH-cam comments on my end are supposed to line up all the new ones so that I don’t have to search for them one-video-at-a-time. There are other ways to improve your cognition, though. If you don't have anyone who will address these with you, you aren't getting what you deserve. Don't settle for dismissal. What you need is for someone to sit down with you and go over all the options for improving your cognition. If you want to do a one-on-one consultation with me, schedule one on MenopauseTaylor.ME. I'll create a personal document just for you, send it to you at least one day in advance of our session, and then have samples, props, and models available at the time of our session to demonstrate things. I do consults in person, on Skype, on FaceTime, and on Facebook Messenger. It's unfair for people to put you off about this. It's just too important.
Menopause Taylor I would love to have a session with you and will do that if I don't get anywhere with the menopause specialists I have an appointment in August. I am on an Estrodial patch that is 0.075. . I really think I need a stronger dose.
As we age, it becomes a full-time job just making sure we don't fall apart!
Well, there's some truth to that. However, I think it all depends on how you invest that time.
This education is all about knowing what to expect in the future so that you can do what you want to manage it in advance. I admire and applaud you for being so proactive and taking control of your health. And, I love helping you!
Love the way you empower us by teaching us to manage our health our way, knowing the facts.
You are just an awesome person! Thanks for your continued tips for menopause-health and wellness! 🌸🌺
I need it!
I am attending your University with no intention of graduating.
Love you classes.
Cheers
You make me laugh. I guess all women could say the same given the fact we're menopausal for the rest of our lives.
I love your language story. I purchased your book, and it arrived today.
Thank you so much for your kind words, my dear. I love every minute of delivering this education.
I love your series! Your book is a must! I recommend it to all my friends, Thank you-for this amazing series its a gift to all women❤️
Thank you what a lovely tutorial and so light hearted too 😀😀😀. I see your followers are certainly growing and that is so exciting as more women are listening, talking and becoming aware of you! Awesome to see Barbie 💕
Thank you, Terri. I am so excited about how much this is changing women's lives. I absolutely love doing it. And I love having you here with me.
I am binge-watching as many of your videos as I can. PS: Love your nails, they are ALWAYS perfect!
You are so very kind, my dear. Thank you.
As long as you watch all my videos in order, you will understand everything.
Dr Taylor you are so smart(an understatement) , extremely funny, so pretty and the world's best and greatest menopause educator. All the women of the world should applaud you for your passion, commitment and your life saving messages on this topic. Thank you so so so much.
Oh, you are so very kind, my dear. Thank you for your compliments. And I just love giving you this education. Thank you for appreciating it so.
I’m addicted to your channel, it so so informative. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make them xx
You are so very welcome, my dear. I love giving you this education. If you watch all my videos in order, you'll definitely understand everything.
Thank you Barbie for this gift. So happy and grateful I found you! Just started taking my chasteberry today at 52 and post menopausal. Starting my don quai on Tuesday. 🌸🌹🌺
I'm glad you're here, Antionette. You deserve this education. And I love providing it for you.
Oh I just loved your story about the misspoken language in class. What a hoot!
I like to tell you my goofy stores ... which are all true!
I love watching you and all your amazing info on menopause... From Port Elizabeth, South Africa
I'm so glad this education works for you. I love South Africa. I lived in Cape Town.
Thank you Dr. Taylor for this informative video.
God Bless.
You are so welcome, my dear.
Thanks!

And most of the time, it works. But occasionally (as in this case), a comment doesn’t appear in the line-up. I apologize profusely for the delay.
Add simple reading for exercising your brain. Reading feeds the imagination. Hilarious story about learning the Spanish language. Thank you!
Thank you again. I have always wanted to learn French, now I feel I must for my brain preservation! Loved your story about Spanish class, you are so cute! Looking forward to next week. 💗

If you learn French, I'll communicate with you in French on these comments (but only to the extent that I can be sure you understand me). Go ahead, start a French class. It's a blast.
6:15 there is also buckwheat and quinoa. 😊
I wonder what your opinion is on a ketogenic diet.
She,s vegan-plant based!
I agree. Keep working that brain!
Well...my clothes are simple compared to all the details you put in yours! I also knit, tat and love to cook German and Mexican food.
You see, I don't do any of those other things! In fact, I'm a terrible failure in all things domestic other than sewing. I hate cooking!
Thank-You so very much for this video. I discovered your You Tube channel way past my window of opportunity. I have been hoping that you would do some for those of us that missed our chance to take estrogen to help prevent osteoporosis, alzheimer's, and heart disease. Again, THANK-YOU!

I absolutloved your video! You are extraordinary! Simply love you!!!! You cracked me up with your Spanish class story
Thank you so much my dear.
Welcome to Menopause University. (I think you're new to my channel.)
If you start with video 1 and watch them all in order, you will understand absolutely everything. Each one builds on the last, and you just have to learn the material in order if you don't want to sabotage your entire menopause education.
If you need my help in tailoring all the facts specifically to YOU, just schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME.
ROTFL!!!!!! You are a Wonderful storyteller -you just handle everything with grace.
Well, thank you so much, my dear. (I do not know what ROTFL means. I'm dense about popular acronyms.)

Does homeschooling count? Lol. Im relearning a whole lot! You’re pretty in purple and you’re sexy and you know it! 🤣 seriously, thank you for all the work you do for womankind!

Homeschooling counts ONLY if it's new information FOR YOU, which it shouldn't be. I mean, you're talking about information you should have learned yourself as a child.
Thank you so much that you exist and kisses from Canada!! xoxo
Lack of estrogen is associated with both high cholesterol and osteoporosis. But there are many options for every woman. The key is to tailor all the pros and cons of each to YOU. If you or your mom wants a one-on-one consultation to address your situation, I do them I do them on Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, as well as in-person.
If you want a consultation, go to MenopauseTaylor.ME to schedule one.
I laughed so hard that my kids woke up. You story is hilarious. I haven’t laughed like that in a long time. Thank you.
Good! You'll like my stories, They're all true, and they make the point. Remembering the story helps you remember the lesson.
Anyway, here it is:
Hejazi, K., Askari, R.
What an entertaining video!! I was in hysterics with your Spanish class story!!!!
Great stories! Have you ever lived in Croatia?
No, but I would love to!
Thank you Barbie, your language school story was hilarious.😂
I'm so glad you like my true stories about the goofy things that happen to me.
Omg your Spanish class experience was hilarious!!! 😂😂😂🙌🏼
Does homeschooling count? Lol. I’m re-learning a lot! Thank you for these videos! I know a lot goes into making them!
When I was a resident in Ob/Gyn, a Vietnamese colleague of mine, who spoke English as a second language said, "Don't run around the bus and beat it" when he meant to say, "Don't beat around the bush."
And I also want around France saying, "My heart years for you" (in the sexual sense) instead of "I missed you" when I hadn't seen someone for a while.
(We have a name for it: "Truncal obesity.")
Weight gain is worse off HRT.
So, this is a time when it will take much more to maintain your weight at the ideal limit. In most cases, weight gain means you need more estrogen (and possibly less progesterone).
Menopause Taylor thank you Dr Taylor for all your great information....truly appreciate to have someone of your calibre for us women today
You are truly welcome.
Lorraine,
You have been as busy as your boys!
I'll be giving you lots more videos on dietary supplements. Videos 119 - 124 are all on supplements. I've already shot them, but they won't air for a while.
I love you! Simply that!
You are so sweet. I truly love doing this for you, and get a thrill knowing I'm helping you make positive changes in your life.
Your language school story was so entertaining Dr Barbie 😂
Hilarious stories about yourself! I LOL...I am a learner and at 61 finding learning to not come as quick but I still persevere because I'm very curious. I need to eat cleaner although my eating habits are not terrible.
I think you are a great student, and the fact that you are a student of "Menopause University" is an attestation to your thirst for knowledge.
I love having you here. And I can tell that you're grasping this information just fine.
Loving this info 💎🐾👣and you look lovely healthy and happy
Well, thank you, my dear. I certainly feel healthy and happy.
I'm learning much of what I already do for my health diet.exercise supplements and now become more strict about is even more beneficial and does more to keep myself functioning properly then I realized thanks so much It helps that I can't stay out of those rabbit holes and my husband who's 57 loves languages we're looking to adopt a.heeler mix bigger dog different breed trates and puppies really help with mood management as well
I love it when you discover that some of what your are doing already is right for your menopause management.
You two should pursue learning a language together. That would be such fun.
@@MenopauseTaylor Great idea!
Thank you so much for this video!!!!!!
You are so welcome, my dear.
(There are many characteristics to assess.)
So, that does not change your risk.
Here they are:
1) Personal history of breast cancer
2) Family history of breast cancer ...
8) Smoking
9) Activity level.
No neurotransmitter can take the place of estrogen.
Neurologists know nothing about menopause.
Omg I loved your story
Im so glad this education is entertaining as well as enlightening.
Stephanie,
It is not too late.
Think of it like this:
If you take a statin drug for high cholesterol INSTEAD of eating a 100% plant-based diet, you are really putting yourself at a lot of risk when you could be avoiding the need for the drug in the first place.
Thanks Doc.....you created this monster (smiles) I am now questioning everything. Your right, most of us would rather take the pill than do the work.
You make me laugh. I guess I am making everything seem more complicated, aren't I!

I love your video a lot!
Well, thank you, my dear.

Also, how do you have only 13K subscribers? Really you should be well over 50K by now with all the people I keep telling to watch you!
It's called "The Dirt on Dairy."
I'll address your "intolerance of dairy."
@@MenopauseTaylor Would it help to have something alkaline with them? I don't want to give up my beloved yogurt.

(Video 9)
The ONLY reason you produce progesterone or ever needed progesterone was to support a pregnancy.
(It’s like estrogen is the fertilizer and progesterone is the lawnmower.)
Now that you're post-menopausal, the ONLY reason to take progesterone is to protect your uterus from uterine cancer.
Great video. Yes teachers still say "put on your thinking caps" Lol
Oh, I'm so glad. I thought it made me look like I'm living in the dark ages.
I'm confused, she said ginko to help brain, then said none, so which is it?
Ginkgo does help with your memory in the short term, and it can have long-term benefits, too. But it is not as effective as estrogen or challenging your brain with difficult tasks.
I love you dr. Taylor..!😁
I love you, too! I want you to have the education you deserve.

You are very lucky! It means that you are caught up, watching these videos in order, as they air.
I'm just so happy to be given you the education you deserve.
You are very fresh! In a great way 😁
What a delightful sentiment. Thank you.
(And the cosmetology people cringe when they discover that I use Vaseline.)
In my case, my skin many be "springy," but my bones are not!
Thank you for your informative reply. Much appreciated! And... as usual, very inspiring!
Thank YOU for being my student. I love teaching you.
20:43 Serms videos 34 and 35
Thank you again for another great video!! I have a serious question:
Been on HRT (Estradiol 1 mg) since last June.
You have a few options:
(1) You can try different forms, brands, and dosages of progesterone.
(2) You can take Duavee. It consists of a low dose of estrogen along with a SERM. And you can use it without progesterone. It's designed for use without progesterone. (In my opinion, this may be your best option.)
(3) You can have a hysterectomy, which, of course, has its own risks.
I discussed Duavee in videos 34 & 35. It may be the thing for you.
If you need me for a one-on-one consultation, I can do on w with you (in person or on Skype, FaceTime, or Facebook Messenger). You can schedule it on my website.
In Barcelona they speak a Catalan language, much more difficult to learn and understand.
I know. I lived in Barcelona. I understand and speak Spanish, with which I got by just fine while living there.
I just love you!
All that to be sure you know the I love you, too!
Can not having enough estrogen cause mild cognitive deficits?
Yes. It can cause forgetfulness, brain fog, or confusion.
Menopause Taylor Thank you! I have those but all of the doctors I have seen dismiss it. I have been to a neurologist and had an MRI which was normal.
You have a good plan. I'm here for you.
Damn...think my bones are stuffed then (coke in hand)
So entertaining 😆 🤣
Dr Barbie, Gorgeous as always 😚
You are, too, my dear. Any developments?
Menopause Taylor I see the surgeon on Monday to go over the results of lowering the estradiol and doing the pelvic floor treatments.
I look forward to a time when medicine can assit the brain 🙏🌻
Well, most of the things that preserve your brain entail good old hard work on your part. And most people don't want to do that.
Bottom line I have to chose between my coffee and my bones 😩
Yes, sometimes we have to choose. Or maybe you can compensate in other ways.
Am i ?
😀😀😀
Haha ha ha ha ha ha. Ole’
You're funny.
