Hi my darling Barbie. Just to say I had my appointment with my specialist on the 31st July and it was successful. I am taking Evorel patch and 2 x mini pill a day. I am so relieved. My own G.P told me I would be offered no HRT because I was taking 1 x 2.5mg blood pressure tablet . Another doctor told me I needed to be thinner and at least 50yrs old to take it. I saw a private menopause specialist in Plymouth who set me straight on my options. She was brilliant . I wouldn't have got here without you spurring me on and fighting for what I was entitled to. I have lost weight and considering the vegan diet now as recommended. Barbie I love you always & forever. Sallyanne , UK XXXXXX
You make me so happy! I love it when any woman finds solutions that make her feel better. It's so empowering to know how to get what you want. I'm just so proud of you, Sallyanne. Thank you so much for giving me this follow-up.
All of this is true . I've been vegan since 17 years old, and I believe it has saved my life many times. And will continue to do so. I'm so glad I knew at a early age to stick to this vegan diet .
Stacy Boorn plant based here for 3 years. I feel great but need to find the one food or foods to bring back or increase my drive if you get my drift! I heard yams might help. I eat lots of sweet potatoes but I haven’t been able to find the particular type of yam that supposedly helps with this. I truly believe food is medicine and love to stick with all natural remedies. Would love your input, Dr. Taylor!
I consider myself a lifetime learner and very familiar with antioxidants, cruciferous vegetables, etc. But... your demonstration and explanation on the apple and the orange was an AHA moment. Thank you!!
Dear Menopause Taylor you are the best thing that has happened to me since menopause! I appreciate your honest educational material. I work in healthcare you truly are making a difference in the world. Do you ever go on conferences ? I wish you did ! My diet is very yo-yo I eat all the magical foods you mention but I often have cravings binges for non healthy food like chips or Chick fila or lots of carbs like refined rice and white potatoes. It’s like a monster takes over ! I’m 52 and 123 lbs, when I was 49 I was 116 lbs. Dramatic weight gain with menopause. I’m doing HRT thanks to information you gave me ❤ estrogen patches + progesterone capsules (bio identical) so far good but the weight 😢😢😢 now I have to work harder to control it with less energy and feeling lethargic in the morning (I take progesterone at night) it’s hard to get up in the morning early and work out. What is your advice ?
Dear Bibiana, Thank you so much for your kind words. I love knowing that this education is helping you. And I can help you even more in a consultation. Your situation warrants tailoring everything specifically to YOU, which I can do in a consultation, but not in a comment box. Please schedule one at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I do them all online, so it doesn't matter where you live. I really want to meet you and help you, my dear.
Everybody loves those cruciferous veggies: and by everybody I mean, caterpillars, snails, rabbits, woodchucks...Those are the only veggies I have to protect with row covers in my organic garden.
Gee, I’m thrilled that I’ve been eating these magic foods! One on one is a goal I’m working on, oh what a wonderful thing that would be! Love love, as always, dear Dr. Barbie...there is no one like you. ❤️❤️❤️
See, you're way ahead already. It's always wonderful to know that you're already doing some things that are the most beneficial. I'd love a one-on-one with you. I feel like I know you. And I'd hug you on Skype!
I knew there was a reason I loved broccoli! I am not a big fruit eater but that was interesting to find the Orange was better than an apple. It’s good to find a little magic that is very useful! Thanks 😊
Love all the videos! Please keep bringing us more information!! I know this question doesn't pertain to this video but I was wondering what your thoughts were about taking bio identical estrogen only three times per week instead of every day?
Why would you do that? The very goal with any hormone therapy is to keep a steady level of the hormone in your body. That's why different formulations have different dosing schedules. For instance, you change some patches once a week. You change others every three days. If you don't adhere to the dosing schedule, you create peak and trough effect. The hormone level is high and then low, high and then low. One of the big mistakes women make is to adjust dosing schedules. I used that very example in video 85. You should definitely watch it. I did it in the kitchen. And the way I explained it was by making two batches of cookie dough. I followed the recipe for one, and I modified the recipe for the other. You can guess the outcomes. If you are not comfortable with your hormone regimen, schedule a one-on-pne consultation with me. I'll help you find what's right for both your body AND your peace of mind. If you want a consultation, go to MenopauseTaylor.ME to schedule one. I do them on Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, as well as in-person. You can include all the things you want to cover when you fill out the form, and then send me any labs or tests you've had. That way, I can incorporate everything into the session. I'll create a personalized document addressing all your concerns, and send it to you at least one day before our session. That way, you 'll have time to read it in advance. It's usually 6 - 12 pages long. Then, I'll have all sorts of props and models to show you during the consultation, and we'll make great headway. You'll understand everything and have all the options tailored specifically to YOU.
You are so very welcome, my dear. Knowing these things can make such a difference in your life. You'll use this menopause education to make decisions every single day.

I desperately need an answer to a question.....I am 57 now and in 2011 i had an 11 lb.fibroid tumor removed that was growing in my uterus....and hysterectomy....removal of ovaries etc. .....i felt great afterwards until a few months later then all of a sudden my body started feeling like i was in menopause. My worse problem is SWEATING! Not just hot flashes but sweating all the time ....i can't do anything without sweating to the point im almost doing nothing.....it's ruining my life and has me so depressed. My question is since i had the hysterectomy about 6 years ago do i need hormones? Everybody is giving me different opinions....some say No i don't need them because of my surgery and my age and others say Yes i will need hormones the rest of my life! I just don't know what to do and i can't stay healthy if I can't even wash dishes without pouring sweat and it dripping in my eyes it's so bad. I just can't do this much longer.....would you give me your opinion? So sorry this is so long.....thank you so much in advance💜🍃
The removal of your ovaries constituted "surgical menopause," which really just means sudden menopause. It's very important for you to understand the implications of sudden menopause. It's inexcusable that you haven't gotten the education you need about this. Your symptoms are classic and so easily remedied. You just need to understand exactly how to go about solving your problem. What do you think of the contradictory diet to whole plant foods like keto or paleo? So many people are adamant that keto is the way to go. Btw - I don't eat meat because of animal treatment and my spiritual beliefs.
Keto is short for "ketosis." Ketosis is a state in which your body does for survival when it's starving. If it doesn't get enough carbohydrates to burn as energy, it starts burning fat instead. And when your body burns fat, it forms ketones. Normally, your body controls how much fat it burns because your body NEEDS fat to function. But, when your body goes into ketosis, it has not choice. Ketosis is the state that diabetics go into when they don't have enough insulin. If they don't take insulin, they end up in a coma. Three's nothing healthy about ketosis. A "keto diet"wil make you lose weight. But, in the process you will also break down muscle and greatly increase the cholesterol plaques in your arteries. It's shocking how many people don't realize what a Keto diet is. It's one of the most dangerous diets ever. It' dangerous to stay on it for more than a couple of weeks. Even then, your cholesterol and triglycerides will increase in just a couple of weeks.
Menopause Taylor thank you so much for this clear info. With so many people and "doctors" here on TH-cam advocating the keto diet it is confusing. Yet, just using common sense, I have always felt that any diet that eliminates veggies and fruits and whole grains just can't be healthy.
Exactly! Facts make sense. And when something sounds "off," it usually is. So much of what you hear is someone trying to sell something. I always say, "If there's a product involved, run!" There's no way you'll get accurate or unbiased information from someone with a product to sell. There's a fine line between "ed" (education) and "ad" (advertisement). The problem is that you think you're learning facts when, actually, you're getting snared by a marketing ploy. I have no product. You can always count on me to give you the facts. I don't care what you use for your menopause management. I care that you know what you're doing with a complete and unbiased education.
I think this video (and the incredibly valuable information it provides) is magical! Do vegetables like broccoli lose their nutrients when cooked? Is it vitamin C that has been destroyed in the heating process?
I was always told garlic and onions were good for you, but my pain management doctor put me on an antio-inflammatory diet and I'm not allowed to eat them anymore.
I love the bunny! 😎😁 The supplement DIM is supposed to be a source of cruciferous phytochemicals. If I am taking either a topical estrogen cream or gel, does DIM interfere with the estrogen? I know that it’s is supposed to support the detoxification of the liver of oral hormones, does it have the same effect on topical hormones?
DIM does not interfere with estrogen. First, it's too weak to have much of an effect. Second, just think about the claim "support the detoxification of oral hormones in the liver." No claim on any dietary supplement means what you think it means. I'll cover all this in video 124. There are restriction on what these products can claim. So, they word things in a way that make you THINK they do certain things, when, in fact, they don't.
Generally speaking, you can still eat them either cooked or raw. But, I always recommend that you do a self-experiment. Try eating them only cooked for two weeks. Them try eating them raw for two weeks. Which does YOUR body prefer? Or, does it respond similarly either way? That's how you should decide.
Amazing thanks Barbie 💕💜. One day soon I will do a one on one with you 🎉🎉🎉. Are nuts with salt bad? As a vegan could one cook with olive oil or does all need to be raw ??
Raw and vegan are two completely different things. Do all the cooking you want! As a vegan, you can eat your food any way you want. Olive oil is good for you, Salt is good up to a point. Just pay attention to the mg of sale you're getting in a day. The problem with salt is that preserved, packaged, junk, and fast food is full of salt. And the American diet is almost entirely preserved, packaged, junk , or fast food. If your only salt was on its, that would be fine. But if you're getting more than 1500 mg in an entire day. Most people eat 3 - 4 times that every day.
Hello Dr., I have a question about episode 111; you stated that walnuts are the best nut and I believe myself to be somewhat allergic to them, my mouth feels a bit itchy when I eat them, what is the second healthiest nut? If you could give the top three for variety that would be wonderful. 😊
Love veggies! Can't eat enough. All of them. Always eat the veggies on my plate first. OK, back in order. I am still on hormone basics, but, easily distracted regarding food. :)
Hi, I have an under active thyroid following a partial thyroidectomy and I do enjoy cruciferous vegetables however, most things I’ve read advise against thyroid sufferers consuming them. I’m 54 years old and also menopausal. What is your opinion on this? Thankyou
All thyroid issues are not the same. There are women who have difficulty with the interaction between cruciferous veggies and their thyroid hormone replacement. However, it may depend on the kind of thyroid hormone or the dosage. You have to address this specifically with your doctor.
Menopause Taylor Wow, you’ve replied so quickly, thanks so much for that. I will speak to my doctor but to be honest I find that my GP is very vague and I only ever see my Endocrinologist when I have any issues. I haven’t seen him in 6 years I think. Thankyou Barbie !
Nothing is about "what I think." And Suzanne Summers is an actress, not a menopause specialist. But, let's put your question into perspective. If you were diabetic & your body had stopped producing insulin, how long would you take insulin replacement? What about thyroid hormone replacement if your thyroid gland stopped producing thyroid hormone? Why would you think about estrogen any differently than you do about any other hormone deficiency? And guess what happens when you stop taking HRT? All your symptoms & all your risks for diseases start up all over again.
are "steel cut oats" the best choice for oats? it is my understanding that they are the least processed that are commercially available. after a quick search, I can't find "whole oats."
The very thing that makes fruit and veggies beneficial & so nutritious is that the sugar in them is combined with fiber. Juicing removes all the fiber & leaves you with just the sugar! So you negate the benefits.
I'm laughing. I'm just delivering information. You get to use it any way you please. Women are not robots, so there is nothing that is right for ALL women. I think the truth makes sense, though. And the next step is to let your BODY dictate what's right specifically for YOU.
Hi Medopause Barbie!🤗I have a question..my husband and I are wanting to go vegan..but the organic can be expensive..so how would you clean your vegetables to get any pesticides off..viniger and water? 🤔thank you❤
You're normal. You live in a society that centers food around animal products. It's not easy to eat a 100% plant-based diet. You really have to plan ahead and take control of your food. But you can do it in baby steps if you want.
Can I schedule a consultation with you for my 18 year old granddaughter? She has never had a regular period since she started at 12. She always feels bad and complains of headaches. I don’t know what to do to help her.
Absolutely. I do consultations with kids, men, and non-menopausal women all the time. And I address topics that have nothing to do with menopause, like muscle-skeletal diseases, cancer, etc. I even address diet and will take people to the grocery store to learn how to read nutrition labels and make good choices for themselves. You can schedule the time at my website: MenopauseTaylor.ME.
....the hat and bunny rabbit (hahahaha). Well...I wonder what your thoughts are on the thoughts that cruciferous veggies need to be cooked well for those with Hashimoto’s. ...all these “rules”. Probably just a bunch of bologna. 😁
Well, there's some truth to that. Cruciferous veggies contain "goitrogens" which cause your thyroid gland to grow. Bit if you cook the vegetables, even a little bit, you nullify that effect. So, if you have hypothyroidism or Hashimoto's, Thyroiditis, it's best to cook them. You can steam, broil, grill, sautéed, etc.

True. In fact, if you put citrus on any fruit that normally oxidizes, it will prevent the oxidation process (avocados, bananas, etc.).

What do you think about cruciferous vegetables with autoimmune disease. Should they be cooked?
Olive oil is good for you,
Salt is good up to a point.
Yes I am willing. Thanks a million🙏
You are so very welcome.
Thank you so much for you amazing videos, you are so beautiful and inspirational. Peanuts are not nuts, they are legumes:))
Yes, I know this. I try to simplify things rather than getting all caught up in minutia.
Great video ! 🙋🏻♀️🌺
Well, you're a great student. Learn and live. (I've always thought it was backward the other way.)

Hello Dr., I have a question about episode 111; you stated that walnuts are the best nut and I believe myself to be somewhat allergic to them, my mouth feels a bit itchy when I eat them, what is the second healthiest nut? If you could give the top three for variety that would be wonderful. 😊
Amelia,
After walnuts come (2) Almonds, (3) Pistachios, and (4) Pecans.
Love veggies! Can't eat enough. All of them. Always eat the veggies on my plate first. OK, back in order. I am still on hormone basics, but, easily distracted regarding food. :)
Ha! You make laugh, Diane. Who isn't distracted by food?
Absolutely perfect and real advice. Appreciated!!
I'm so glad this is beneficial for you, my dear. Keep watching order.
So good information 👏 👌 💯 you r the best!
What a kind comment. Thank you.
Great fun video. Thanks for the info.
You are very welcome, my dear.
Very informative video.
@@patriciashillock7202 Just call your endocrinologist or send an inquiry via My Chart.
Thank you for great video! You are the best doctor!
You are so welcome. You make teaching fun.
How about beans?🥰
How about beans ? Is beans a healthy food ?
There are many kinds of beans. Generally speaking, they are healthy.
What do u think about hormones after menopause (ie, over 60)? I know Suzanne Summers, who is in her 70's, has said she would 'never' go off of hers.
Vow good informations
are "steel cut oats" the best choice for oats? it is my understanding that they are the least processed that are commercially available. after a quick search, I can't find "whole oats."
The "best" choice for foods in general are those that have been touched by the food industry the least.
Wow thank you so much Dr you are amazing God bless you 🙏❤️😊
You are so very welcome, my dear.

Thankyou Dr. 💋

Great information!!!! Love your channel!!❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😘😘😘😘
I love knowing that you're learning and laughing.
Hi dear.Thank you for your lessons. How much broccoli I have to consume a day.
You do not have to consume it every day, and there is no "prescribed" quantity. Just eat it regularly and you'll be in good shape.
We only grow peanuts in my country.
Your props are a hoot!
Well, I think laughing and learning go very wee together. And remembering the goofy props will ensure that you remember the lesson behind them.
What do u think of juicing or smoothies with veggies ?
The very thing that makes fruit and veggies beneficial & so nutritious is that the sugar in them is combined with fiber. Juicing removes all the fiber & leaves you with just the sugar! So you negate the benefits.
@@MenopauseTaylor yeah juicing greens 🥬 only. I use a little fruit in smoothies
@@secondskinfillers8709Yes, no to juicing, yes to smoothies. But more veg than fruit, only a handful of berries twice a week.
“They’re only magical if you actually eat it “😅
Of course! Your point is well-stated.
Thank you so much to there for us!!!!
You are so welcome. I love doing this for you.
I love the hat! (and the video)
Thank you, my dear.
❤️Thank you! ❤️
It's my pleasure, Eve.
I think you're converting me into a vegan.

🤔thank you❤
Yes, vinegar and water are perfect. And have fun experimenting with a vegan diet. Your body will definitely let you know if it likes it.
Thanks for that magical Video. I try to eat more plants but find it hard to change my habits and eat less animal derived foods.

Hi :-)
❤
Jesus I cant eat any of the cruciferous foods. Not with irritable bowel!
Well, you just have to do what is best FOR YOU. The reason I present so many options is because every single woman will have circumstances or preferences that shape her choices.
Take care of your bowel. You'll be able to take advantage of other options.
