I had the MKX Cub 50 modded and PT swapped to US voltage from European voltage. The tech did a decent job, but your work looks far superior. The tech took off the cover for the filter caps and used the blue cans so the cover wouldn’t go back on. If you were local, I’d definitely take it you for service. 👍👍
Hell yeah! Glad to see you back - and with one of my favorite amps too. I've got the mkx50 combo and it's working well enough, but I've been avoiding a cap job due to the amount of butchery necessary. Dude still makes amps under the NOVIK moniker - been thinking about messaging him to see if he's got new caps that are the same form factor. Also, if this thing ends up on your bench again, hit up the Red Bear FB group. I'm pretty sure one of the guys had replacement power and standby switches.
cool to see and hear one of these amp again, not much sound vdeos out there... i had a mig50, mig50h and mig60 and each had its own thing going. they all needed work but once it was done, like you said... bulletproof!
Wow, excellent job and video! And love the shirts too, GBH, Obituary, heheh cool. You definitively should join the FB's group! BTW, I emailed the guys from NOVIK this weekend regarding replacement caps, we'll see!
Hi just found your video I’m your newest subscriber. Great video, awesome rebuild job.I bought one of these dirt cheap. It is been modified, Russian preamp tubes were changed to 12ax7 an output tubes converted to EL 34. Some of the caps were changed to values closer to a JCM 800. Replacing the pots will be a big improvement for sure, the originals are pretty bad. I have a jcm also. In my opinion this amp sounds better, you could for the most part follow a JCM 800 schematic if anyone needs
Love your videos, I have a Redbear mk60 the potentiometers are bad ,what should I replace them with ? I would like to try doing this myself .Any help would be much appreciated. tank You.
Alpha pots are likely the most cost effective at the moment. The values you need can be purchased from tubesandmore.com. It's not difficult to swap them out, just take detailed notes of the pot values and where the wires are coming from. Take pictures as you go.

Never heard of this amp. A guy just called me asking if I could repair his. That search led me to this video. Well done brother.

I had a .01 cap go full on leaky on a mesa boogie like 66 volts dc on the ac side of the cap right into the gain pot.
Matching the Cap colors...that's next level attention to detail.
These video's are f'ing rad!!
