i've got an R55 combo, chassis has two different dates, '94 and '96. Had it serviced last year for a basic health check, dunno if it had ever been serviced but at 30yrs use, and it does get hot back there, so i figured it'd be good time to get it checked. There was a leaking cap (think just like the one found towards the end), and had several changed, new power tubes; otherwise it was good all around. It's my go-to amp. Nice video~~~
One of the best tools I have in the workshop for cleaning charred boards is a fiberglass pen. $10 from any online marketplace and it’ll remove the junk on the surface, you can clean corrosion and use it to remove solder mask from traces for repair.
It's very different than the Marshalls and Fenders I'm used to. Although I have worked on a few Rivera Knuckleheads and there's definitely their own signature sound for the overdrive.
Check the bottom of the electrolytic caps. They blow out and stink bad. They're glued down and you can't see the leakage from the bottom until you pull em out
Nice Job, love that handwired conversion!

Had that same weird smell when I had a transformer go out in my Rivera M60 after the sockets arced.
Excellent work ! I see and admire your knowledge , experience , and patience . Bonus , a good tech who can also play well ! Very cool vid .

Nice job. The amp has an interesting sound. The drive sound was pretty thick.

that was a relatively full sounding crunch tone on the clean channel. Couldnt see the gain setting but presume it's cranked.

Are you gonna do the age of buffudelment tour?
No. I have respectfully resigned from touring with GWAR. I wish them the best of luck on this upcoming tour!
