    You are Incredible !!!! I have looked for an Invicta Grand Diver with a red dial (stainless steel case and band) for 2 years. NO LUCK.... Your video encouraged me to buy a red dial and change it out in a black dial grand diver. All the appropriate "tools" are purchased and in hand. When the red dial comes in.....I will update you on my successful/not-successful change out. Thank you for your extremely informative DIY video.

    Zipper lighter fluid will rub the sticky glue from the bezel insert right off. It's the best and easiest way to get that stuff off. Great video series of this mod. Nicely done!!

      na man, acetone if you want to be gentle, brake parts or carburetor cleaner if you want some power and fuming nitric acid if you want to get it all off.

    Just finished. Awesome series! It looks like a stressful yet very fun process. I imagine thats why people get into modding. Its just fun to build and tinker with the watch. Not that it is cost effective ( as opposed to purchasing a factory watch with the desired specs) or adds any value to the modded watch. Just plan fun to do- and in the end a unique piece with individual memories of the process

    • @CGAWCChannel
      @CGAWCChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is def. fun and there is something satisfying about being able to do your own work. I think it's more about being able to get the look and combo you want, when it isn't available that way anywhere. Also, while for the most part it doesn't add value, there are certainly instances where it does, particularly among the most popular mods, like the Seiko fifty five fathoms mod, which sells for more than the cost of parts, particularly with an upgraded movement.

    Congrats on a great job! Good tip regarding using Post it Notes to hold the hands while pressing. I also use a bit of Rodico to hold watch hands in place. The bonus with the Rodico is that you can shape it so your fingers don't obstruct your view. Cheers!

    Rubbing Alcohol works great for the "sticky" residue. Goo-Gone works a little better but it leaves an oily residue. And you end up having to use rubbing alcohol to remove the oil anyway. 👍👍

    I have found that Ronsinol lighter fluid is great for removing all types of adhesive. It's non-toxic to smell and when it evaporates rather quickly, it leaves no residue. Another option would be 99% Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol. I would recommend either one on the end of a Q-Tip or the like. I also recommend wet sanding with 3M sanding paper for autobody work instead of dry sanding. It will go faster and give a better finished result so you have less polishing to do.

    • @MadAzn53
      @MadAzn53 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think if I tried this, I could do this really quick but the outcome would be different than yours.
      1) Buy all mod materials and lay them on top of the watch;
      2) Take one tool (ballpeen or sledge hammer) that fits your fancy;
      3) Pound away frustrations;
      4) Enjoy mod

  • @georgeasimos3560
    @georgeasimos3560 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok I ordered a 3 o'clock dial from Dagaz but it sounds like that might not be the best idea for my first attempt... both the 3 and 4s say for an NH35 movement, the only difference being the placement of the crown... should I send the 3 back even thought the 8926 has a 3 o'clock dial? I'd prefer to avoid the tedium of dial dots on the first go around if possible...

    • @CGAWCChannel
      @CGAWCChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should actually be good with a three o'clock dial. I think I mis-speak in the video. The dial type you want is all about where the crown is. So if the crown is at 3, then you want a 3 dial, if it's at 4, then you want a 4 o'clock dial. I hope this makes sense.

    Nicely done! Just wondering why you didn't go for a double domed sapphire? Also, is it okay to spin the hour hand while installed? I didn't take note as to where the hands were before removal, so now the date changes at 5 o'clock.

    • @CGAWCChannel
      @CGAWCChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I actually got impatient and didn't want to wait for the double domed crystal to arrive, but I might still throw one on there. You can indeed uncase the movement and gently adjust the hour hand.

    Why would you change the bezel insert when it is the same black insert? Is there any different between the new and the old insert?

    • @CGAWCChannel
      @CGAWCChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it looks like it's the same bezel, but there are three main differences. The new insert is better quality over all, it has minute markings all around the bezel (which I wanted), and lastly the 12 o'clock pip is a way better pip than new one on the old insert.

    Hey CG, I have a question. I just bought the same crystal press at Amazon and notice that the top and Bottom parts of it are not align. When I push the level the top piece touch first the back of the bottom piece. When pressed hard they make full contact. Is like 2 to 3 mm of deviation. Is this normal?.

    Great Job on the video tutorial CG! I'm impressed with your skill..are you a surgeon by day? lol
    Question: instead of using Epoxy on the bezel insert do you think that the dial dots would work to hold the insert on?
    I would not want to glue the insert on as it will difficult to remove when I want to swap the bezel.
    I have used clear silicone on my inserts and it works well and its easyish to remove when I want to swap out bezels.
    I need alot more practice with installing hands...I do like the idea of the sticky paper...
    Again , great job my friend!! :)

    • @CGAWCChannel
      @CGAWCChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol...thank you LLD! I think dial dots would hold the bezel insert, but I wouldn't be confident in it over the long term in regard to resisting humidity, water, children, etc. Silicone is a good option I hadn't considered. I went with the epoxy because I don't plan on changing the bezel, but I do know they sell like a double sided adhesive type tape that you can use on the insert as well...I've seen it on Dagaz's site, but I don't know how easy it would be to remove any potential residue. Thanks for checking out the video! xx

    I can't put the bezel back on the case, it just keeps coming off the case

    • @CGAWCChannel
      @CGAWCChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you're missing the bezel wire (there is the spring and the wire) or it isn't tucked into the right position.

    • @MegaXtc11
      @MegaXtc11 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I have the octagonal wire, but where am I suppose to put it? where the grooves are or at the top where it is prone to snap off?

    • @CGAWCChannel
      @CGAWCChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MegaXtc11 okay. So if you have the bezel insert off and the bezel on the case with the spring wire. You will see a small gap between the bezel and the case itself as you look Down at it, you can use a small screw driver to gently push the bezel wire into that gap all the way around. That is what keeps the bezel on. If you you still have questions shoot me an email cgawcchannel@gmail.com and we can figure out Facebook messenger or skype and I can help you out.

      @MegaXtc11 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your reply. Thing is that the wire keeps coming off, I might have the watch look over a local repair shop just in case anything broke, the watch fell from a little table.

    • @CGAWCChannel
      @CGAWCChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MegaXtc11 ah. It should be ok though. If you need anything else. Let me know. There is a little lip on the case around the where the Crystal is and you can see where the wire would tuck under.

    Zipper Lighter fluid is only good if you want the gasket to deteriorate prematurely. Best to apply a small amount of mineral oil which will keep the gasket lubricated to remove and replace. This tutorial is somewhat informative as to how to disassemble the watch, but the advice is terrible as to grinding and removing the original Invicta logo. You will permanently ruin and destroy your watch! Seek better advice. Obviously this guy does not have any comprehension to give anyone good advice.

      +CG AWC Channel I mean who can blame you? Jokes aside that is one serious looking watch. Make sure to tell people that it's your own home-brew watch brand and who knows, they might lend you some capital to start your own mass produced watch brand in the not-so-distant future.
