Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Ravel, Scriabin and Tchaikovsky all deserve the regonition that Beethoven had (especially Debussy and Ravel) and their pieces are better than Beethoven imo. Works like La Mer (Debussy), Prelude To An Afternoon Of A Faun (Debussy), Reflets dans i'eau (Debussy), the Left Hand Piano Concerto (Ravel), Concerto in G Major (Ravel), Jeau D'eau (Ravel), Le Tombeau de Couperin (Ravel) were important to the Impressionist era of classical music and they deserve the fame of Fur Elise or Moonlight Sonata. Then there's Chopin's 3 sonatas, 4 Ballades and Scherzos, Rachmaninoff's 4 Concertos, 2 sonatas and all the preludes, Scriabin's Piano Concerto and his 10 sonatas, Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, his concertos and string quartets (and sextets), Sibelius's violin concerto and his 7 (8?) symphonies, Mahler's 9 (10?) Symphonies and all of Brahms pieces played an important part in the Romantic era in the 19th century and later the Expressionist era in the 20th century all should be more famous and played than Beethoven's 3rd (Eroica), 5th, 6th (Pastoral) and 9th symphonies.
P.S. Liszt B Minor Sonata and his Remenisces de Don Juan are the most difficult Romantic pieces. Not La Campanella or Fantaisie Impromtu.
