    I hope this helps but vinyl plank is way easier to install than the way you did it. Just mark your measurements, score with a utility knife, and a straight edge, then snap it by bending it where you scored it, and cut the backing. No need to even get off your knees, or leave the work space. It all can be done right there where you are working.

    Gorgeous floor job. This is very inspiring. I had a guy come in to estimate doing laminate flooring in a 32 foot fifth wheel and I got an estimate of just over $3000.00 Canadian. Ouch. My brother and I are disabled and are about to purchase an older rv with “dusty rose” carpet to concert to ensure we r never homeless again.
    Yuck. What is it with all the older rv’s and “dusty friggin rose”. We have the tools and your video demonstrates that we can do it ourselves and save a ton of money. Thanks once again for your posting

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can save a lot of money by doing things yourself! That price quote really hurts! Good luck with the renovation and removing the pink carpet! haha

      We were just having the exact same dilemma between trail oak and fresh oak. This helped a lot as no one put the style they chose. The lighting home depot is also super bright and fluorescent.

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great point I never thought of! Lighting definitely changes how it will look overall. I'm so glad we went with it. I was considering a super dark flooring at first and I think that would have been a mistake 😟 So glad we could help and good luck with your project! 😊

    Lol 😂 about the staples around the stairs. Same thing in the rv I’m redoing. The guy on staple gun had Tourette’s of the elbow when he put them in.

    Good Video. I am in the same process right now in my new old camper. Trying to figure out if click together flooring is going to hold up with all of the flexing a 5th wheel does.

      That's awesome to hear! We're excited for your project! Make sure to send us picture updates through our Instagram! We'd love to see the finished product!
      As for the vinyl floors being flexible enough, I can say we've had no issues with our old rig. And we even got the thicker planks for better floor insulation from cold and noise!

    Looks beaytiful! Did you add anything to the edge of the steps to cover the connection between the LVP and white board? Any thoughts on using this approach on full size stairs in a house?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Thanks for watching and the compliment! We love how our stairs turned out. We ended up adding stair edging to make the steps look more finished. As for doing this in a home, I say why not! It would be the same process and could look really nice!

    Your videos are so useful and helpful thank you! A year on from this, how's it holding up...would you use the Lifeproof brand again for the same job? I've seen some people advocating the peel and stick flooring but also hear about them popping up, especially in hot climates...

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lifeproof has been amazing for us! Way better than peel and stick!

      We just bought one or two panels of beaded batten board and cut them to size to nail into the stair riser! We love how they make the stairs feel finished ☺️

    Hi there 🤗 ! Quick question, actually a big doubt, please help me. 🙏 I don't know which floor should I install on my rvcamper. I'm in doubt about vinyl plank or vinyl sheet. Which do you recommend me? Planks looks better but I've read some comments that they may separate while traveling. What has already happened with the floor you have and again what do you recommend me? Thank you

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our vinyl plank flooring has done great. No separation.

  • @my74vette

    Did you need to take out your front driver and passenger seats for the new flooring? Thanks.

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did not, but it would of be better to remove them, drill the bolt holes, and secure them back to the floor. Hope that helps!

    Why did you use the planks over a piece similar to what you used for the shower?

    great video so I have a 30' Fleetwood and I bought the life proof and than returned it. I ended up going with lumber liquidators there brand is made of polymer which doesn't have pvc no luck with my floor wrapped it out twice already and now calling a installer who wants $900 to install it. frustrated. and lots of broken vinyl planks

  • @Studiovette
    @Studiovette 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How is this flooring working out for you? Weren’t you concerned about the added weight? I’ve used lifepro before and it’s very heavy stuff.

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The flooring has been great! No issues with added weight. Very durable!

    Did you put the flooring in your entry steps if so how did you the flooring to stick on the side walls ?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did not put flooring on the side walls, we used board and batten wall paneling from home depot

  • @thebfam6191
    @thebfam6191 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What silicone or product do you use on the edge gaps?

  • @creativealchemy1175
    @creativealchemy1175 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You say it's "very heavy"...how much weight does it add to the overall rig and how did that affect other decisions you made about appliances and etc to keep under max?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question... we didn't really get too official with all the weighing though we probably should have 😅 If you are wanting to be a little more careful about your weight, I would take your rig to a CAT Scale to see how much weight you've got and check out the distribution of that weight on your axles to help you know how much more weight you can add :)

    Any of replacing carpet for vinyl in rv’s, I don’t see them glueing the vinyl to the floor. Has anyone used vinyl with GripStrip? Thanks

  • @jellyfishprintables
    @jellyfishprintables ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Ryan. We are being advised to not do vinyl plank by an RV flooring, specialist because of the expansion retraction issues, etc. he has nightmare stories. I really want to do it. Could you please tell me if your flooring is holding up? Would you recommend sheet vinyl instead?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had no issues with our vinyl plank flooring. It's been in 90+ to 20 below degrees Fahrenheit weather. I installed the floor with spacers around the edges. No shifting or gapping. Maybe I got lucky, installed the flooring correctly, got a nice brand of vinyl planks, or the motorhome has a smoother ride than a travel trailer? But we've been very happy with our vinyl plank flooring.
      Hope that helps! Good luck!

    can i ask how much you needed for the floor estimate? thank you

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I can't remember how much we spent on the floor but I think we used 4-5 boxes of the flooring mostly because there were a lot of small cuts and probably because we aren't professional installers 😆

  • @thebfam6191
    @thebfam6191 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are you removing the original flooring?

    • @RyanMegan

      We removed the carpet but left the linoleum flooring

  • @jasonjackson5696
    @jasonjackson5696 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why do you need spacers?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To allow room for the floor to expand with different temperatures. The vinyl planks dont usually expand much compared to real wood floors. :)

    Watching you cut those planks do not look like vinyl. It looks like wood. I'm confused.

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're Lifeproof vinyl planks from Home Depot. They're a little thicker than other types of vinyl so it was easier to cut them with our power saw.

  • @gcwoodwork215
    @gcwoodwork215 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just an fyi those are not vinyl floors that’s laminate, vinyl floors you can cut with a razor knife!

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that's the difference between vinyl peel and stick and vinyl plank - we used vinyl plank, but you can cut peel and stick with a utility knife ☺️

    • @richardgarcia9679
      @richardgarcia9679 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re wrong. It a vinyl plank and it actually can be cut with a knife

    • @tinaperez9756

      Thanks for that comment. I was confused at the title then watch him cutting what appears to be wooden planks.
