    My two cents for what it's worth: I thought my new BikeBerry kit was junk when I first put the bike together. I just couldn't get it started. I wasn't getting any spark. I tried everything. I called the 800 number hot line a bunch of times. I did the ohm meter tests with the CDI and the Magneto. The values were all within range. I changed spark plugs three times. What it came down to was: I wasn't peddling fast enough!! The magneto (at least mine) just wont make spark unless it's really turning over at a pretty good clip. Once I figured that out, I pedal the bike to a very fast speed when I can (I'm an old dude and this is hard on me) and then release the clutch and it usually pops and starts up fine.
    One other tip: when you need to come to a stop for what ever reason and you've pulled in the clutch and sitting there pulsing the throttle.....when it's time to take off again, don't just release the clutch and twist the throttle like you would a motorcycle. You'll stall the engine. You gotta start peddling again to get the bike moving before releasing the clutch. It's like every time you start to move, each time is the first time. Don't just dump the clutch. It will stall and you'll think (like me) something is wrong with your engine setup. Good luck.

      Hi. Mine is a pull start one so when I come to a stop I pull in the clutch and it revs so high. Then how am I meant to stop the high revs, and also am I just meant to release the clutch and then pull the throttle? Because I can’t really pedal my bike much as it is hard to because I have a pull start not a pedal one even though it’s a mountain road bike.

      Rafi Rahmani You need to have a specific mix for break in period and after break in. Break-in period should have a 16:1 gas to oil ratio and after that it should be somewhere around 20:1

    This video actually helped me get the thing running. No one else could help me with my new engine kit that had spark, fuel and everything but would not start. I needed to crank it for longer while choked and use a faster drill to crank it. Just crank it till some smoke begins to come out the exhaust then open the choke and bam it fires up. Also if they send a tall spark plug, throw it in the trash it gives off weak spark and just get the champion plug Thunderhead mentions. Part # CJ7Y Champion

  • @kalleklp7291

    The "coil" is a CDI unit. It's fed from and triggered by the magneto which sits inside the side cover just after where the clutch arm goes in.
    The "little button" is a valve that floods the carburetor chamber somewhat like a primer bulb on a chainsaw or weed whacker.

    I built mine right before winter last year and rode it for a couple days. It took a long time before the engine finally cranked over. Then with winter I had it sitting out in the shed. Pulled it out today and gas'd it up and man are my legs tired and sore. I just couldn't get it to start up. You think because I had it sit for a while that maybe some gas in the tank evaporated and left more oil then gas and that my be causing my trouble? Gonna try again tomorrow if my legs can handle it. I know it's getting a spark and my kill switch hasn't been a issue that I know of.

    • @urmomsahoe1
      @urmomsahoe1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might try emptying the gas out of the tank and the lines and putting new gas mix. Gas isn't supposed to sit for longer than 3 months. After that it gets bad.

      It’s the “boost bottle”. Basically a plenum chamber expansion that assists the efficiency of a 2 stroke port valve engine with no reed valves which the motorcycle bicycle engines are. Smooths out the reversion for much cleaner power and efficiency.
      Mostly assists with low and part throttle consistency

    I have tried everything to get my BRAND NEW engine to start. I can drop the clutch and get it to run but it will not run without me pedaling and as soon as i pull the clutch in it dies. maybe i literally need to push it around the block for ages to get it to work but ive been trying for 4 days now so i woulda thought that been enough.
    I have a consistent spark although have not changed the spark plug. I've made sure fuel is getting into the carb and i primed the engine as you said with fuel in the spark plug hole, sloshed it around a lil. but doesn't make a difference.
    I will try again tomorrow at just pushing it around with the engine running by pedaling (which is massive hurt on my quads) I will do it for 4 mins but if it doesn't start I can only assume the timing is out. I have checked the magneto and it was touching one side so i recentred that to not touch either side also.
    I have not disconnected my kill switch however if the engine actually runs that means the switch isn't stopping power to the spark plug.
    Any other tips you can give me because asking the forums is a waste of time as they ask obvious questions like I'm thick... I just can't get it to "catch" :'( really upsetting me as it's my first one.

      I don't know about you but where I live it's reasonably cold and on cold days the engine seems to reaaaally struggle to start it will make a noise as if its running but it won't fire. From what it sounds like it's not firing the way I get mine to start when it's really struggling is a point it down a big hill pin the throttle about 1/4 / 1/2 and wait for the bike to pick up a lot of speed. Does they bike fire at all as when they fire you can feel it as they kick the bike around a good bit

    • @09mantlek
      @09mantlek 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrrat9178 It hasn't fired at all. I got a big hill right outside my house and I can really bring the RPM up to a point it sounds like it's screaming when I release the clutch and continue pedalling the rest of the hill but it doesn't fire, no signs of it even trying to spring to life. It's about 8 degrees Celsius around here atm so not too cold. I have ordered brand new magneto and CDI. already put new NGK spark plug in. but they are arriving in 2 fucking months time xD (From UK)

Maybe something like the head bolts are loose I'd try tightening them be careful though as they strip so easy. Make sure you've got the exhaust on as it will start without it but itll just add to your problems

    • @ThunderHead289
      @ThunderHead289  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      here is my advice, sorry for getting back to you so late, but I was not notified of this comment. im sure its spark related, pull out your spark plug and attach it to the plug wire and hold the plug to the engine head. run with the bike a bit with the clutch released so the motor is turning. if you do this in a dark enough area you should see spark. if you don't, work through the system to figure out where the failure is.
      the only other thing that this could be is a loss of compression. if you know you have spark, shoot some carb cleaner, gas, or highly combustible fluid into the chamber(just a little) now quickly reassemble and try to start the bike. if it sputters or tries to start, its carburation issues.
      hope this helps, sorry for the late reply.

      @thekingsilverado9004 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +victor larraondo The key let loose on the key shaft. The magnet slides in onto a shaft and your engine the magnet should be keyed. I saw two of the newer PK80 bottom ends the magnet wheels had the key fused inside the wheel itself slick work I thought. Anyway the keys are real nightmare on the cheaper engines so take it to a small engine shop with a new key or make one from key stock. Easier said than done for rookies with these engines... Please make a note the magnet has a front and back side. If ya took it off it could also be on the shaft backwards... take it to a small engine shop or local gear head and I don't mean a wannabe parts changer guy... Soemone that knows kinetic 2 cycle engines...

    • @ThunderHead289
      @ThunderHead289  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have always just used the standard carb set up with great success. unscrew the part where your throttle goes into your carb. there is a brass pin within that assembly. remove your throttle linkage and you will see a small E-clip on a brass needle looking thing. depending on your sark plug coloring you will need to move this clip up or down. if the plug is black, move the clip up. if the sparking part of the plug is whitish, move the clip down a notch.

Never spray sprays or spray oils on the magneto or cleaners on the CDI's... Use an ohms tester on the magneto you should have a reading of about 493 ohms or thereabouts and about 450 to 600 on a CDI and even it the CDI tests good it still does not mean it passing spark thru the wire to the plug......
