Hey guys to add to what you are saying, the main, (could be 1st, or 2nd) reason he is desguise is, that he knows that bad guys won't hesitate to threaten him by promising to kill or hurt the people he loves, which could turn into him using his powers to do bad things.
That is a great point and, Bendis toyed with the idea of his secret identity in Superman Villains #1. It was great to see the world react to the reveal and it was good to see it from the villains POV. The way they dragged Luthor!! Classic www.dc.com/comics/superman-villains-2020/superman-villains-1
I feel the reason some film makers cannot make a proper Superman film is they are jaded people. It is hard for some people to write a positive character if they do not see the world in that light or even entertain the idea that positivity can exist. A common trope/theme in modern IP is deconstruction of the hero and the universe/IP itself. That's why in Star Trek Picard series, the Federation is dealing with a huge failure. Riker and Troi had an off/on again relationship in Next Gen, finally got together for good in the movies, only for them to lose a damn child in the Picard series. In the Star Wars sequel trilogy they completely undid the success of the rebellion by having the galaxy back to how they were, under subjection and on the run from the evil bad guys. Modern IP take the easy/lazy way of resetting the IP to an early state and retell the story in a soft-reboot or branch in a direction filled with cliches and tropes instead of compelling story telling. I think James Gunn is making Superman first to set the tone of his films and deliver a Superman story full of heart, joy, and emotion. - - Leroy, It was the Superman/Batman: Apocalypse animated movie and I love it!! Darkseid is impressed with Batman's resolve. After realizing that he's lost, he smiles and says: “Had the Kryptonian or the Amazon taken this gamble, they would have lost. But you...a human? You kill your own kind to win battles; an admirable quality."
Great discussion on this topic this week i always was a fan of superman, but i am a great fan of fan favorite of Plastic man in DC comics most people outside of the comic book reading fandom don't know that plastic man is one of the most powerfullest and probably one of the very few of DC character criminal turned superhero to get in supermans face boldly. Plastic man did some crime fighting side by side with Batman a few times. He has some funny moments to him as well which i like myself. But to this show superman is the stuff
Plastic Man is such an under utilized character. Even more so then Superman. At least Sups has a few monthly titles and a few animated series. Let's see if someone takes an interest in the character and we see him featured more prominently. I will say the panel of Plastic Man being turned into a suit for Wonder Woman was genius and I am semi envious.
Why so lukewarm to the man of steel? I will agree with you on the Fox X-Men cause whew those films are all over the place, however I do have high hopes for this new Deadpool flick only because I have a feeling this is going to right the ship when it comes to the X-Men.
@@keithbutler9466 The Cavil thing really bothered me. I wanted to see him more as Superman. I didn't like BvS or Justice League but loved seeing Cavil back as Superman. I wasn't so bummed about Affleck but I wouldn't have mind seeing what his solo Batman would have looked like.
They do look very similar! Also explain what you mean by tired of Superman. Your point of view is interesting cause we were wondering why people are tired of him.

I'll be in the theater to see it but I'm lukewarm to Superman, X-Men and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
