As someone who's beat this game over 30 times, and 100% it, let me just say that: This was THE most hype run I've ever watched. The entire video I was screaming, "WHAT?!?!" every other second seeing the cool tricks done, and I literally started losing my voice doing it lmao. I've learned so much from watching this and it was so much fun watching it. Very very very very cool TAS, well done! I was never bored at any moment!
I don't know what it is, be it all the boosting or the no-clipping and exploitation of how these games render the map. But this TAS (and any TAS of any Metroid Prime game for that matter) is really trippy and fun to watch when you're really stoned.
I bet in 2014 noone would have guessed how fast you can actually move in this game lol, what an amazing display of this game being run. Also this run was only 2 mins slower than the any% no OoB TAS despite how rediculously long 100% normally is, so thats pretty remarkable.
My favorite part was the fact you can kill Space Jump Guardian before he even spawns. That's a certified "how the heck did anyone figure out you can do that???" moment. It's amazing, even in first person 3D mode, it's still true: Bounty Hunter Go Fast!
allow me to explain; when he went Out of Bounds at sanctuary fortress, in the room before spider guardian, he did a canon ball glitch, where he unloaded the room while he launches with the canon, therefore keeping the boost ball effect that it gives, since the canon launch *technically* never ended.
I think the most impressive part is that the Dark Portals didn't tank your frames. :p No seriously, how did you do that? Anyway, nice run. The sequence breaks were a lot more extreme than I expected. Like the last beam.
At 23:40 I'm using a glitch called cannonball by unloading a room while being shot out of a cannon. This gives me the ability to boost, invincibility in morph ball mode and the ability to deal a lot of damage to certain enemies. It's the reason why I can defeat the second form of Chykka by rolling into it.
@@MaskedTAS is that cannonball glitch doable outside of TAS? I got out of Prime 2 speedrunning a long time ago, so catching up on things has been enlightening.
can somebody tell me why so many doors need so long to open leaving him waiting in front of them? and also, what does TAS 100% in 1:19 mean when he is still collecting stuff after 1:19? (I'm new into watching speedruns)
TAS means tool assisted Speedrun, meaning I used an emulator and slowdowns, extra saves and a memory viewer to play and record this. 100% means all individual items are collected. The final time is 1:19 because I use in-game time (IGT) which is shown after the credits. IGT only counts the time Samus is controlled and doesn't count cutscenes and loading screens. I hope this helps. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
@@MaskedTAS alright that makes sense, thank you! That just leaves my question regarding the doors taking so much time to open even though you are standing in front of them?
@@bamboochaLPP the rooms won't load instantly, it takes some time for them to be fully loaded so I just stand in front of them until the door opens. This is even more noticeable in Metroid Prime 3, where you have to wait in front of some doors for over 20 seconds
@@MaskedTAS ah I see, thanks for explaining it to me :) finished echoes for the first time yesterday and watched your run afterwards, very good to see hehe. I'll start corruption today, can't wait to dive into it.
29:29 - Bit confused, that was definitely the sound of a powerup, but none of her rockets, bombs, ammo or health increased, and there was no animation for any sort of upgrade when they got back inbounds, what was picked up there?
I know this is 2 years after this has been uploaded, but did I miss obtaining the boost ball? It’s like there was no boost and then suddenly there was. I haven’t had any luck searching for where the boost ball upgrade would have come from unless I’m missing something really obvious. Some help here would be awesome. Great run to watch btw
Hi I happen to be watching this right now too lol At 23:33, he uses the cannon while the map is on the wrong room. Since the map is on the wrong room, the room he used the cannon in gets unloaded. This causes you to enter a state called "Cannon Ball," which allows you to, while Morphed, become invincible to all damage, do 500,000 damage per frame, and lets you boost for some reason. The state goes away after using another cannon or reloading the game.
at 23:38 I'm entering a Cannon in the room Workers Path while the game thinks I'm in Sanctuary Temple. Unloading Workers path while being shot out of the Cannon allows me to keep the 'Cannon Ball' state, which has three distinct properties: - Total invulnerability while in Morph Ball - An aura around the Morph Ball that deals 500,000 damage per frame, which allows me to Insta-Kill some enemies, most noticeably the second phase of Chykka. This aura is also capable of activating certain doors that were previously locked (though it cannot unlock currently locked doors) without needing to use a weapon against them - Allows Samus to boost, even if she doesn't already have Boost Ball At 29:30 I collected Screw Attack while I was out of bounds, you can hear the sound effect of me collecting something. Since the puzzle in Vault (the screw attack room) is not solved there is no Item collection fanfare.
@@MaskedTAS oh, it looked like you teleported through the room for some reason yesterday my bad. but you were just walking into vault via the aether i see.
