  • Whether it be Lake Erie, Saginaw Bay, Green Bay, or any other powerhouse walleye fishery, the Berkley Flicker Minnow, Rapala Down Deep Husky Jerk, and Bandit Deep Walleye Runner, play an essential role in many anglers' tackle boxes. I'm not saying you'll always catch fish when you troll these baits, but the odds are highly in your favor!

My go-to stick baits for trolling Erie are Berkley Flicker Minnows for deep trolling, and Smithwick suspending Rattlin' Rogue especially during early May when those Walleye are up in shallow waters. Everything blasts the Smithwicks, and you only have to throw them 20-30 ft off the back of the boat to get them into their ideal 6-8 ft depth ranges...I've caught many smallmouth on them (some huge), walleyes hammer them hard. It's fun to catch smallmouth on the Smithwick suspending Rogues and watching them rocket out of the water when they're hooked.

They are awesome baits!! Those hooks are tacky and those fish have a lotta trouble getting off!

Love the walleye bandit! The hooks are cheap as hell though and have had walleye pull the whole back assembly out. Cheap made but catch fish

You never mentioned the rapala deep taildancer. Why? Just curious.
Awesome video, good job explaining your experience using the different lures and their characteristics.

Great video for us Deep Diver guys I need to ask or mention Have you or others had any issues with the 2020 Flicker Minnows 9 and 11? I cannot believe right out of the package how most are ....Out Of Tune.... Have had to tune each one so far this spring.... My last years models were for the most part In Tune but still have to check them This year when finally getting them In Tune Catch a fish put it back out and guess what Out of Tune. Package says Each are Tank Tested and Tuned.... I dont think so Maybe they are Rejects? Reef Runner sold them years ago to distributors and were a nightmare I still have the Reef Runner tuning tool and it works great on the Flicker Minnows.... Will need to quit buying them as I think the quality and materials are less and cheaper.... Just sayin

If you fish Erie you left out Reef Runner 800 bare naked. Bandits rule now. Port Clinton Put In Bay biggest walleyes you'll ever catch. If you ever have a chance to go put it on your bucket list. Good video.

Used yesterday for trolling for lake striper and they worked great. Thought about changing to inline hooks. Has anyone tried this and does it affect action?

Salmo free diver or the rapala tail dancer are the only 2 I can think that will get 30 feet on a flat line

Crankbaits are the only way ill fish. When nothing else works a crankbait at the right depth is gonna get em. Keeps it out of the weeds. I got a monster last night in the shallows on a floating Rebel. It was too big for the net and he was barely hooked. So sad.

I KNEW someone was going to mention the Smithwick Perfect 10. Those are great baits, too. I would have included them if I had one in hand. Caught a few eyes 2 years ago with them trolling out of Luna Pier.

I really like them I have about 40 or 50 of them. I’ve never used a licker minnow. I’m sure they work well. I was going to try Lindy Wally Demons this year out at Luna Pier. Would be awesome to fish with you sometime

P 10s are better in spring. Once the water warms and the fish are suspended deeper Bandits rule

@@fishingwithdom1657 I found a deal on Top 20 Rogues. I'm new to trolling but it seems to produce a lot of big fish. I also picked up some Husky Jerks and will be grabbing a half dozen Bandits as well. Wonder Bread seems to be a hot color lately. I put in at Luna Pier since the launch is 5 minutes from the house and only 30 bucks a year. Nice video. Tight lines.

I had a Bandit 4 3/4" deep diver Pink Yellow that broke into 3 pieces and lost an eye same day I got it. P.O.P. (Fishing USA) shipped another within minutes of my email. Best customer service I've EVER had.
