I had one that I reviewed it had the boar pate I liked everything but didn't care much for the sausage it had the texture of Vienna sausage and now that I'm older I don't care for them as much great review and highly enjoyed thank you for sharing
Nice review 👍i buy these RCIR s regularly, we use them for hiking. The drinks are weird , no whitener for the coffee and some of the cereal bars are a bit boring, but on the other hand , everything else is really tasty.. The musli and the main courses are excellent 👌, so in general a nice ration bo
I’ve tried a few of these - they’re just superb, I hear the Italian rations are the only better ones. I took a few of them and went camping in Scotland - great memories of heating the duck and pasta dish up with the esbit stove ✊
The French love that mint cordial, I'm glad it's not just me who thinks it's f*cking terrible. Other than that, I have to hand it to them, looks like a great ration pack. Really good review mate, look forward to following the channel.
really appreciate the support... got a British 24hr menu 3 to upload next and then a few more French menus 😋 not a fan at all of the mint cordial bit really enjoy the French mres
Andros jam and fruit products is a very comon product in France supermakets. I believe they use that brand on purpose as it's good home reminder taste. I don't know for military specificaly, but most people in France drink water like straight while they eat when it's not wine or beer, powder drinks or sodas are more in between meals like late morning or afternoon. There's always people unable to eat without their energy drink or soda but most people I know, me included just drink water.
That's a nice touch creating a reminder of home 😀 thanks for the info on the drinks side. it makes sense that there are few energy drinks in the French rations if its more usual to have water.
Nice review, The quality of ingredients is way up there with the French ration. I dont know what the citrus/menthol drinks are all about, maybe its a French thing but they all taste a bit weird to me. Keep it up and looking forward to the Swedish review, been eating my way through a menu 4 that has been very tasty.
Looking forward to trying out the other menus. The Swedish mre looks exciting! Lots of new things to try. Iv been looking directly at your website instead of Ebay and I have a shopping list of wants bigger than my bank balance 😂 the American mre's look interesting my son wants to check out the pizza options
The strawberry mint beverage I had was awful too. I'll take British Orange over that any day! On a side note, the bitterness in chocolate is by far predominately the result of how the beans are raosted and is not correlated to how much cacao is present. Bitterness is often the result of overroasting/burning the beans.
Nice fact!... I personally find dark chocolate bitter to my palate.... which I really enjoy! I think what you explained is also true for coffee beans? If you burn them when roasting, they are bitter?
@WearyWolfAdventures I believe so; what's the highest cocoa % bar you've ever had? Believe it or not they make 100% cocoa bars that contain no added sugars, just the naturally occurring ones. If you like dark choc shoot for a "bean to bar" 100% bar, like something from a company called "Firetree". Happy hunting!
Nice, shame they didn't include 1/2ltr of red wine in there. Would have gone nice with the Duck Cassoulet and Brandy Pate. Also pro-tip open the box and any other packaging with an 80s vintage Rambo knife for extra points. edit to add: like your style with the coffee/sugar that's the way it's meant to be done.
Similar tinned meals are sold in supermarkets. I stir up the meal and add water before heating, makes extra sauce. Chocolate bar and nougart cut up into small pieces and added to a LITTLE boiling water to make a sweet thick sauce to dip the biscuits in is a great snack. Miss the caramel sweets, used to make a caramel sandwich with them. 😊
I had the boar pate and at first it was a bit too strong in taste because I believe of the congac it mellowed out after I let it sit until the next day
@@WearyWolfAdventures I haven’t had the deer pate yet I believe I have a menu with it I have a few menus I’m about to get back into doing videos I had to get another phone holder for my tripod I may look for one that has it or I’ll see if I have this exact menu
This is my favorite RCIR combination of mains. I bought three #9s last weekend with 2025 dates from a fellow MRE enthusiast here in the US for $140USD, which I thought was quite the bargain.
Nice, for reference it's costs about $94 usd to buy 3 here in the uk. curious how much does a American mre cost? it's roughly $25 USD Converted to buy one over here!
@@WearyWolfAdventures RCIRs located in the States that are intact with the cellophane wrapper are in the 80-95USD each range depending on the menu. US MREs are the least expensive. Location, location, location. Amazon sells them for $17USD now.
36 € in belgium for 3 french mres and US mres are like 11 € (+-11$) but the halal ones are usually cheaper (like 9 $) so yeah the price in the US are well above those in Europe
I'm not much of a breakfast person I usually don't eat until later in the mid day so I would probably skip the breakfast portion and the isotonic drink reminds me of Flintstones vitamins and I didn't like it
that was the worst Isotonic Drink I have tried 😅 is that what the vitamins taste like? if so, I will avoid ever trying them 🤣 I'm not big on breakfast either. I can take it or leave it... but I need that early morning coffee to fire up my brain and body 😀
@@WearyWolfAdventures yes the vitamins taste just like that to me they are chewable that isotonic drink was horrible 🤣🤣🤣 and I’m the same way I can just have coffee and be fine it doesn’t give me any energy or anything because I used to have a transportation job and would drink so much coffee that I’m immune to the caffeine 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ I can drink it right before bed and it won’t keep me awake
What peoples don't realize: French MRE are "off the shelf". It's just off brand products from any supermarket. It's not specifically made for the army.
very good point, was thinking you could make a decent 24hr mre for a long fishing trip using products from a supermarket... might play about with that idea
I always knew that. I was in La Rochelle in 2016 before I started my military MRE hobby and saw the same big sardine cans with meals at the local Carrefour.
Not true... only the jam and the bore pate, the rest are made by french military industry, you will never find those mains in a super market. Stop saying bullshit 😂
@@WearyWolfAdventureshello 🙂🖐 yes they are, those crackers are military made... french dosen't eat that type of crackers for breakfast, they generaly eat normal bread or pastery like croissants, chocolate bread or ham and cheese croissant, etc... even the coffee and sachet of sugar/salt/pepper are military made. They look like normal item from supermarket but they are not, only a few item of this french mre can be found in a supermarket like the tea, coffee, bore pate, the strawberry jam 🙂
Thanks! I love eating those French MRE's!
got 2 more French menu options sat on the desk ready to be reviewed and I can't wait to get stuck in. 😀
another enjoyable review
Thanks again!
New sub here! Great video. Those RCIRs are the best. Especially the chocolate musli. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for subbing! Just been checking out your videos on preparedness 😀
French rations have always had the best mres.
The mains were so good 😋
As written on the isotonic drink, you should have diluted it in half a liter of water (aka the whole bottle you used).
I have used the whole bottle in many reviews.... personal preference I guess... I find it a little to weak 🙃 loving all your comments 🩵 thank you

French MREs can really be good because in operation the exchange rate was 6 American MREs against 1 French.
Quantity versus quality?
I have yet to try an American Mre. It's on my list to review.. want to try the pizza 🍕 menus

Christmas box for a combattant 😯

If you used drink glasses that didn't narrow so much at the bottom the drinks would mix better.
great feedback, thanks. I have already switched to a less narrow glass in the current and ongoing recordings. 😀

Do they have online stores I could order from the UK?

sometimes i think about ordering a bunch of MREs because im too lazy to make dinner after work
could be eating worse things 🙃
Lemon + lime + mint is the what a mojito tastes like (minus the alcohol).
Should I add some ice and alcohol
... maybe some fresh mint from the garden 🤔 next time I get one 😉
