    I had also tried Adapalene Gel 0.1% (Differin) for treatment of my KP for a duration of about 5 weeks; not long enough, in my opinion, to say whether it did or didn’t have any effect (the only thing I experienced in that short time were the side effects of redness & irritation). Being that I was 19 at the time and Differin was available by prescription only, I elected to stop using it for my KP as I didn’t want to apply prescription topical Vitamin A on such large areas of my body on a continual basis. Following a month-long “rest” thereafter (to let my irritated arm skin calm down from the Differin), I began using AmLactin lotion; and it’s what I’ve used ever since. I’m speaking about AmLactin because it is the primary product responsible for eradicating my rough & bumpy texture and, more importantly, maintaining my smooth skin all these years. I highly recommend lactic acid if you struggle at all with roughness and/or excessively dry or cracked skin anywhere on your body. This product effectively exfoliates, brightens & hydrates the skin; and evens tone, too. Lactic acid is gentler compared to glycolic acid; that’s also why I prefer it (less potential for irritation and therefore safer for sensitive/reactive skin).

      I love your videos! I am wanting to moisturize my skin in the best way possible to prevent any sagging skin during my weight loss journey. What would be your opinion on differin for the upper thighs and any areas of concern for preventing loose skin? I would cover with a moisturizer of coarse. I just really don’t want to have to make a derm appointment to ask this one question. I would appreciate any insight you may have. Thank you for your time.

    Hi, Jenn. Always love seeing you. I've resolved my KP (and a myriad of other textural skin issues - and achieved general bodily softness) by buying 50% pure glycolic acid online, putting it in a glass dropper bottle and just putting some in each squirt of whatever body lotion I'm using. That way, I can always adapt it to my needs and it's extraordinarily cheap and long-lasting.

    • @briannab4770
      @briannab4770 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@silavie1378 - Heya. I totally get it. I hate feeling greasy. Honestly, you could mix it with anything. It would work in shower gel, but the effect wouldn't be quite as pronounced because you're rising it right off.
      Something I might recommend is perhaps buying a cheap hyaluronic acid or a hyaluronic acid gel in order to help spread the acid without the greasy, occlusive agents in a moisturizer. I have used a hyaluronic acid gel and it is not oily at ALL.
      Or you could try diluting the acid and just applying it neat to your body, obviously experimenting with what strength works for you. You may want to do a higher concentration a couple times a week, a lower concentration every day, y'know, whatever works for you.
      You could even try doing a high strength of pure glycolic acid on the body and rinse off after a few minutes, like a mini peel (The Ordinary's 30% glycolic acid peel is massively popular and I use it on my face once a week for 10-15 minutes).
      The body can withstand more rigorous exfoliation than the face as the skin is thicker and less sensitive.
      Hope I didn't overwhelm you, I just want to give you options so you can find what works for you.

    I never comment, but I have that too, only on the backs of my arms, since my early 20’s😭 I am excited to see what you have to say , I added sardines bc of you a few months ago, then I started taking beef liver bc of you just last month-this one, idk why but I can tell!)(tret bc of you and a bunch of research, it’s been almost 2 yrs ) (I just turned 35 ) I also started the castor oil, and I just happened to get the same brand you left a review on-purely by accident , but i felt safe with the brand when I saw your review. That one is a slow process, it’s been 6m-1yr, but I keep up with it. (On my eyelashes of course) 😃. Idk what it is about you, but I trust your wholesome advice. I have also included bone broth(tho I’m still working towards being consistent) Now that I’m thinking of it. I’m actually super proud that I’ve managed to start, and keep so many good habits!! I thank you so much!!! Oh ok! So my dr gave me a 12% lactate lotion, and it has improved some from how it used to be, but Based on what you have said, I am on the right track. I just have not been diligent enough, and I don’t use exfoliate gloves or lock it in with a moisturizer. I am going to add that, and see if I can’t get the rest of the way. I didn’t know it could be applied all over body either, but I will grab the amlactin for the rest of my body. (I just want to include, I have had 4 boys, and I live in a isolated area. Figuring out sound information through limited in person access, and the myriad of ideas on the internet has been a challenge over the years, and that is why I am so grateful for you sharing. I know you give very down to earth sound advice. I just want you to know that your channel has impacted my quality of life, which in turn impacts my family’s. Thank you Again.❤️

    Thank you Jennifer! You gave me hope in case retinoic acid doesn't work hehe. Hmm.. No wonder Amlactin wasn't effective on me coz I used it for 2weeks and once a day only (tester size). Problem is, these US brands aren't that common in local groceries/malls here. It is sold online but 2x-3x the price. I'll save up for it first and try it again. Until then, I'll continue using my RA 0.025% on my arms and thighs until I finish the tub. I have KP for 30yrs and they say it will diminish in time but in my case it kinda got worse in my late 20s (I started having it on thighs as well). My dad seem to have his gone by 50s. But I dont think I can wait that long haha so I'll definitely try these tips, Jen. Thanks again and have a good day. ❤🤗

      I’ll be 43 next month. I’ve had KP since I was 15. It doesn’t go away IME - you just have to exfoliate the area regularly forever with chemical peels. It does take months to completely get rid of it & if you’re not consistent it will come back. Glycolic acid works well for me & doesn’t irritate my dry, sensitive skin.

    Cerave has a “rough and bumpy” cream with salicylic acid and lactic acid. It’s very thick and emollient and I slather it on my arms after a lukewarm shower. It’s cheap, simple, and if you’re patient it will work on due time. I also do physical exfoliation once twice a week on the arms with the First Aid Beauty KP scrub. Very important to use a good SPF as well!

    • @JenniferMyers
      @JenniferMyers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don't actively avoid parabens. Everyone's comfort level is different. Although parabens do penetrate the stratum corneum, metabolism of parabens takes place within viable skin, which is likely to result in only 1% unmetabolized parabens available for absorption into the body. All this to say, I don't go out of my way to avoid them, and I don't fear them in my products, either.

    You are stunning and astonishingly young for your age. I tried Retin A a long time ago. My skin was so sensitive to light. Even indoor light would make my skin darker. I used good sunscreen, but I still got lots of color on my face. Does the hyper sensitivity to light diminish as time goes on? I figured the drawbacks of getting sun damage wasn’t worth the benefits of Retin A. I’m religious about sunscreen and I do my research about the best sunscreens.

    • @maidende8280
      @maidende8280 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No the hypersensitivity is permanent (while using tret) because the skin is thinner & newer. I don’t use sunblock or sunscreen. I just avoid the sun on my skin except early & late in the day.

    Can you please do a video on the topic of Discipline.

    When you say it resolved your KP do you mean the bumps AND redness/hyperpigmentation ? Or just the bumps? I find that acids or physical exfoliation clears up the bumps but not the discolored dots often associated with KP

    Hello Jennifer, Thank you this is very informative. Do you use SPF on your arms in the daytime? Also why do use an SPF 50 and an SPF 30 on your face does this protect your skin better by combining them vs just using only an SPF 50. I appreciate you and all your videos, they’ve helped me in so many ways. Have a wonderful day.

    • @JenniferMyers
      @JenniferMyers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I use SPF as an everyday habit. The layering of my facial sunscreens is done purely for aesthetic/vanity reasons (I find my face looks more "polished" and "done" with a tinted moisturizer on).

    Avoid standing under the hot water for the entire duration of your shower.
    The hot water strikes directly on your shoulders, back, and upper arms .. depending on your height. Exposing your upper body to constant stream of hot water for 10-20 mins a day can really dry out your skin and cause problems. Keep in mind your limbs are drier than your torso.

    I had looked in to this for KP but read numerous reviews that it smells like (maple?) syrup which some say doesn’t dissipate. Do you notice it has an odor and if so, was it something that you got used to? I ended up getting my derm to call in a prescription cream but I would consider this to soften skin if it didn’t smell like syrup. I have a pretty sensitive nose. Hope to hear from you. Have a beautiful day!

    Hi! Can't find sunscreen that's affordable and not full of chemicals. I've even seen that sun "protection" with chemical filters WORSEN skin aging? And what about vit D? If you have sunscreen on your whole body, when will you ever get enough bit D (and other good things that the sun also provides)? I live close to the Arctic Circle and we don't even have sun for about 6 months and the rest of the year is not much either. Must I still cover myself in sunscreen all year round? I don't know if there's maybe UVA coming through the windows in the winter? I try to get some amount of sun in the summer bcs it's important to health, but I hardly get any. In the summer, I usually only use in the face but I haven't really found a sunscreen that I like yet and that don't cost an arm and a leg. Plus that isn't full of chemicals...🤪 Tips please....🌺
