I deeply apologize for the titles of ascensions, I messed some of them up. My mind was busy with final projects of the term so they weren't working properly T_T The ones in error were 少君倾酒 and 太子悦神 which were Shi Qingxuan and Xie Lian's title of ascensions.
My problem is I know a little bit of Chinese. So, while I don't know how to read (most) characters, I know a few and can recognize the radicals. This causes problems where I sit there and stare at the characters trying to take apart the characters to get the meaning...But then I don't have any ability to know how to pronounce them. *edit* There's also problems with simplified Chinese because the radicals change >.>
I always got hooked up about this translation though cuz it sounds like referring Huacheng as the Blood Rain who’s exploring the flower :[ while it is okay to interpret it that way, it doesn’t fit with how Huacheng is portrayed especially when it comes to Xielian-matters (I mean, look at how they’re getting lovey-dovey and protective there)…. My own way of translating that would be “amidst the blood rain, seeking/searching/reaching out for the flower” :[ and now it doesn’t fit like a proper English title. 😂 the way Chinese character works simply contradicts with English (for people who don’t know Chinese, each character, especially verbs, can have several closely-represented meanings, and Chinese interpret it depending on the context -- the beauty of the language is also that it can have multiple meanings with one word though :))
I think depending on how much a word is searched on google translate determines how well it is translated since people can give suggestions on how they can improve. Like one time I tried to translate this very colloquial word in spanish and the translation was so wrong, i can't remember rn tho ;;
omggg you wanna hear something funny? so Gŭzi means "millet" and in spanish the word for "millet" is "mijo" [mee-ho] which is phonetically read the same as "mi hijo" [mee-e-ho] (my son), so considering Gŭzi and Qi Rong's relationship I find it both interesting and hilarious! Great vid, by the way. When I first read Tian Guan Ci Fu and Mo Dao Zu Shi, I put all the names through the translator to be able to pronounce them correctly at least in my head while reading, but it is so much better to hear how do YOU pronounce them
Damn Ty. Nice hairstyle. It suits you. And I feel your pain. I’ve used Google Translate to try to translate words I already know in other languages and Google was worse than the kid in third grade who thought box in Spanish was “boxa”
Google translate is definitely…interesting 😂 I’ll admit I’ve used it to translate Spanish in school and all teachers say not to use it but imo if you just write one word or two it’s not that bad, just don’t write full sentences! Before your video of pronouncing TGCF names came out I actually used translate to hear how the names are pronounced in Chinese…let’s just say it took some time to somewhat learn the pronunciation XD Fun video! Maybe next time you can try translating some famous TGCF quotes and see if google gets the meaning right? ☺️
would a translation of flower/petal valkyrie make more sense? when i heard corolla, i immediately thought it was referring to a flower petal or something like that and i see the character for flower in it. and yes, i am a plant biologist so i am biased. :P
Thank you for the link. Google give the craziest translations. I get so annoyed with Google translations and especially when it comes down the subtitles.
this is kind of irrelevant, but you know how xie lian calls hua cheng 'san lang', meaning third son? what would the name be if it were to say third daughter?
So if a name can be created in the Chinese language and has the meaning "walking dream" translated into English then what would it look and sound like???

"Blood Rain Exploring Flowers"... We already know Dora the explorer, could it be that we now have blood rain the explorer?
Blood rain, blood rain, blood rain, blood rain exploring floweeeeers

Yes, “Shi Qingxuan” simply means “Shi Qingxuan.” He/she is too fabulous to have their name translated into English
My favourite TGCF character is “Flower City”
"disaster in white clothes" is sending me that's literally him
bai wuxiang/ jun wu is a disaster in white clothes though XD
We all like ty being an asian aunt complaining about Google translate.

In Chinese it would be "The Blessings of an Official from Heaven (the person)
@@TytheCanasian thx so much for answering this ♡

The one for Banyue could be explained away that months were determined by moonphases so moon=month I guess idk 🤣🤣🤣
Yea you are right, but one needs a few second to process to leap from a person's name to a duration 😂😂

Probably xD At first I was thinking of corona XD
不敢相信我竟然完整地看完了你这个视频!哈哈哈哈哈,很好笑也很好玩:)
But then, the official name for 天官赐福 translated in English that was released was literally
《Heaven's Official Blessing》
I have tried this with mdzs charecters .that was hilarious
i once put mdzs names on google translate and that's one of my biggest regrets i made in my history of internet 🙂
i need to do that next time XD
Do these with mdzs and svsss
Ty simping over google translate of white calamity =))
Corollas are also things found in flowers i think..?

Google can mess up a translation from one language to another one royally!! Remember this is why we have human beings like you, Marcus, and Lady X
Some times when google does not translate I separate words in different lines and that works,
Laughing for straight 17 minutes is what I did 🙂.........🤣
this is kind of irrelevant, but you know how xie lian calls hua cheng 'san lang', meaning third son? what would the name be if it were to say third daughter?
Hmmm, not sure actually
三姑娘? dk just guessing
wouldn't the equivalent be 三娘 like how in mdzs jiang fengmian calls his wife that because she was the 3rd child in her maternal family
My singaporean self tryna explain the meanings of their names to my Indian friends be like:
my glasses were off when youtube recommended this to me and i read the channel name as "Ty the Caucasian"
THE CONFUSION
LMAO
But when I type 谢怜 it says "Thank you for your pity"
WELL I GUESS THAT MAKES SENSE
Cuz ynow
谢 谢你可 怜 我呀
XD my pain! It's so real!
Gege is so frustrated with Google assistant jaiyou ty ge
Now try Shi Mingjing
Lmao, Saburou could be Japanese name of San Lang (it has the same meaning, third son)... Wrong language, google!
So if a name can be created in the Chinese language and has the meaning "walking dream" translated into English then what would it look and sound like???
