- This is stage 3 for the 2019 Ford Ranger FX4. Perhaps one of the favorites for the owner thus far between the factory shocks, Bilstein 5100, and Fox 2.0.
Ranger Shock Guide
www.shocksurplus.com/pages/ch...
Bilstein handled superb, but a bit firm for the daily drive. Fox 2.0 softened up the edges from Bilstein, but were a bit too squishy in some situations. Eibach has brought balance to the force.
We tested both the 2.0 Pro Truck Shocks (digressive piston) and the 2.0 Pro Truck Reservoir (PTR) Shocks (linear piston). Feels significantly different under the truck.

We need another video with these shocks on that truck!!!!!!!
They are installed on 3 different rucks right now. 2022 Ford Bronco 2 Door Badlands Sasquatch, 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST Z71 and this 2019 Ford Ranger.
Would love to see him pick his favorite shocks then start upgrading upper/ lower control arms and other upgrades to the point where he feel like his truck is perfect, would be great for content
Rear leaf upgrades coming, probably no lower arms, maybe we'll change out the upper arms. A lot more shock options coming down the pipe for this Ranger though
@@ShockSurplus can’t wait to see the updates this truck will get and what he’ll stick with!
We'll try to get something out but so far he's a massive fan for the Eibach Pro Truck with the rear reservoir shock. We are still working on more shocks to put in such as Bilstein 6112, Fox 2.5, Teraflex Falcon, Icon and much more.
@@ShockSurplushow are these compared to the 6112 coilovers. I do a lot of washboard roads and camping
@@ShockSurplusooo! Do the the Falcons next!
I have this same setup on my 2019 Ranger minus the resis on the back. I am running Fuel revolver Love the Eibachs. Truck handles awesome. I do have some tire rubbing in the fender well, might have to do a 6" lift to get the clearance in need.
It really depends on how big of tire you are running but did you remove the front and rear crash bars to get some extra clearance? There's is no need to get 6" lift. Our ranger is running 34s on a 2" lift in the front and stock rear.
Yea I did remove the front and rear intrusion bars. I think its coming down to the wheel. They are the Fuel Revolver 17x9 with a -18 offset and 4.25 backspacing. And 285x70xR17 Hancook mt tire.
Oh yeah it's the -18 offset. Our ranger is on a 17x9 +0 Method wheels. What part you rubbing on exactly? Just note as a good practice, if you have issues with clearance at stock height, lifting it won't solve the issue unless you have lifted it so tall that you're wheels and axles are no longer near the frame of the vehicle.
Yea, the tires are hinting just inside the fender well near the back of the tire right in front of where the rear intrusion beam would be. I don't mind going up to the 6" lift. My biggest worries were not being able to coilover that i ready have with the Rough county lift that ibwas looking at. I talked to Matt on your web site and didblet me know that they will work. Just have to set the coilover back to stock height
Did you run the eibach upper control arms they offer for those pro truck shocks?
I can't wait to get this setup on my sr5 taco
Let us know and we'll help you out.
Woman ahh truck
What kind of off-roading do you do?
@@fr.media_2249 ALL OF IT
I just purchased from yall I got the same kit but for my 2021 z71 sliverado
Which engine does your truck have and how much lift did you go with?
@@johndm4300 it a 5.3 and it was 2.5 inches
can u made a video of how to adjust the spring to get a little bit more high out of them? i have those same ones
We can suggest it but to do so, you should have received a spanner wrench. You would turn the locking collar to adjust the height. Measure the distance and follow Eibach's details in the instructions.
@@ShockSurplus i already have it thank u i will
That is great to hear.
Would like to see this Set up on a Tacoma 3rd, Please make us a video
haha its going to be nearly identical to this, next Tacoma video will likely be with Dobinsons MRR, Bilstein 8112, or King 3.0
How are these on a 2018 ford f150???
They are great! Everything good we said about the set on the Ranger still applies to an F-150 or just about any truck with a similar suspension desing.
Hello so im planing on grtting these for the ranger but cant decide is get them with new coils or just use the stock coils.. could you explain what the difference would be?
there wont be too much difference in ride quality for most people that drive on pavement. the benefits come with the coilovers that are a tad longer, which increases wheel travel - but that's mostly an off-road benefit. Otherwise shock quality and damping characteristics are near identical.
Dope rqnger
its a blast to drive
Where did you film this video??
This was out around apple valley, yucca valley, johnson valleyy
What are the wheel specs and offset?
They are a Method 305 17x8.5 with 0 offset/ 4.75 backspace. Current tires are BFG KO2 285/75/R17 (34").
I want to replace my 22 sierra x31 rancho shocks, i want the most amazing ride quality, what are the best shock for me ?
We've got a Silverado 1500 guide going on now, checkout those videos. If you want a tighter handling truck, the Bilstein 5100 are great, if you want some improvement to handling but more concerned with plush onroad drive, the Fox 2.0 is solid.
Bilstein 5100 for towing and hauling. Eibach Pro Truck for all around. Fox 2.0 for off-roading.
Need these for my f150
For sure! what year do you have?
@@ShockSurplus 2021 3.5EB 4x4
Shock! Please help i have s sr5, i street drive my taco , barely 10 to 15 min driving on Streets everyday. Maybe camp 3 times a year at recreational parks i didn't tow, just city driving 99%. What upgrade is best for me ? Bilstien 5100 with eibach springs,vs pro kit stage 1 , stage 2 , 2r or just eibachs springs with kyb shocks n struts???
KYB would be fine, but either the Bilstein or Eibach option seem to last 2-3x as long in terms of miles, so there's that to consider.
Is the Ranger running a sway bar? And how do these ride compared to the 6112’s? Ranger running stock leaf pack?
Yup it is still running the factory front bar. They are definitely a little softer and more plush than the 6112s particularly at lower speeds, but they are not quite as supportive over bigger bumps at higher speeds off road and are not quite as stable under a load. The Eibachs really are a good middle ground between the Bilstein and the Fox. A little softer than the Bilstein, but a little firmer and more stable than the Fox.
So if I wanted to run no sway bar…6112’s since they’d be more supportive and control body roll but still “plush” due to sway bar delete? Basically I want Fox plush but without sway bar the Fox would be too soft so I’m thinking 6112’s to handle higher speeds over washboard etc.
At that price point a digressive shock like the 6112 would be the way to go. With that said if you are alright with spending more you could get the Fox 2.5s with the DSC adjusters and you could use the low speed clicker to lock down body roll with the sway bar disconnected.
What upper control arm would you recommend to pair with the Ebaich coilover for the front.
@@grry8 I’m running the BDS and just had the Eibach Pro 2R kit installed. Rides great. Deleted sway bar.
What would be the best shocks to put on a 2013 Toyota Tundra TRD 4x4?
Eibach 2r vs 6112 5160 for Tacoma please help 🙏!?!?
it'll depend solely on how hard you go offroad, the 6112 will perform better in the fast and heavier terrain compared to the eibach due to the 2.5 piston. That means rebound will be better after a hard hit, keeping the vehicle from bucking hard after full compression
What size tire are those?
2019 Ford Ranger with 17x8.5 ET0 on 34s, 285/75/17
@@ShockSurplus I wonder if those tires would fit on the factory 17 wheel
Shock Surplus is awesome...great people. But that guy who's talking about the difference in struts is full of shit. The Eibachs are stiffer than the Bilsteins. I've used both, and Bilsteins have slightly better dampening. The Eibachs are still a great value, though.
Everybody is definitely entitled to their opinion however we tested the Bilsteins and Eibachs basically back to back, and everybody who rode in the ranger agreed. Obviously, this will vary on application, especially since Eibach uses a different piston design for just about every vehicle, but on these Rangers, the Eibachs were undoubtedly the softer of the two.
