I am chemically sensitive, and fragrances make me very sick. However, last week I thought I'd give Sal Suds a chance. I put 1Tablespoon in my apartment-sized washing machine, with a non-clothing load. I always use multiple rinses with laundry, so even before I developed a fragrance intolerance, afterwards scent was barely there. The load with Sal Suds didn't make me sick. There was a faintly discernable pine scent on the wet fabric that didn't make me sick. The apartment didn't fill up with fumes that made me sick. The load was clean. So Good Stuff!
I think people forget that cleaning and sanitising are two completely different things and different steps. Sal suds is amazing for degreasing and wiping down things to clean away the grime. But use hydrogen peroxide mixed with water to actually sanitise after
YES! I made this video for that! What is a Cleaner vs Sanitizer vs Disinfectant? & How I Test Some Products Against These Claims! th-cam.com/video/lFskKqia5nA/w-d-xo.html
The kitchen sinks always cracks me up. Glad Sal's worked great. I do like it. I wish it was a little easier to find around here but I could just stop being old and cranky and order it from Amazon and that problem would be solved.
Agreed.. I had to order it online. I would have preferred to pick it up locally. It seems like it has a lot of uses and the concentrated formula is so thick!
I will never order Sal Suds from Amazon again. If I hadn’t used it before, I would not have noticed that what I received from Amazon was not what I’d been getting from the official Dr Bronner’s website. I had run out and thought I’d take advantage of Amazon’s quick shipping. Well, I got the quick shipping. But the product was just off - not the same quality at all. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, I didn’t notice until I went back to the product page that the seller does not allow returns. So as not to waste money, I used that bottle to clean my toilet bowl. (I added food coloring so I wouldn’t mistake it for the official product I ended up ordering from Dr Bronner’s.)
We have been using this for laundry since I was reacting to even natural detergents on the market. It works really well. We have soft well water and Sals Suds does a very good job removing stains and smells. We find about a TBS or less for large loads and we can scale that back depending on what we are washing. But with soft water, less is more when it comes to soaps. From our experience anyway:)
I appreciate that you did! We had been diluting it and using as an all purpose spray in our kitchen and I wasn’t sure about how well it might be cleaning. We do still disinfect when handling raw meat. But raw meat aside, I feel better now about using Sals Suds as a general countertop spray. Thank you:)
love sal suds- have been using on my floors for years and in my rug cleaner- we love it for cleaning out our dog kennels- and around the horse stalls- was told about it many years ago from when we used to board our horses-from the owner- and it wasn't easy to find- our local tack shop had it-(and it wasn't cheap) now I order in huge bottles from amazon- for half the price I used to pay-(as for cleaning it is our go to for our outdoor furniture- although I make it a little stronger) BTW loving Bucko shower cleaner- so glad you did a video on it- never heard of before and now I will never be without it-
I am testing my floors now with Sal Suds! I think Sal Suds is a great diverse cleaner! Glad that you like the Bucko as well! I really like that one as well!! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for testing SalSuds, I've never heard of it...only Dr. Bronner's castile soap. Very interesting that it cleans all these things and that it's safe around pets and children. I like that the smell is not overwhelming, like some pine scented cleaners. Dishes, windows, cars, laundry, carpet! Wow, I'm adding it to my list to purchase!
sal suds works good with hard water. I tried the liquid castile soap and it wouldnt sud in my hard water, I reached out to the company (dr.bronners) and they suggested salsuds for washing dishes and cleaning since I have hard water, I use the bar castile soaps for body washing and they work fine, its just the liquid that wont sud up
I have very soft water and wanted to love their Castile soap for the cost effectiveness and DIY uses but WOW- miserably clogs in containers and doesn’t lather or suds
I recently started using this product after I came across this video. I was gonna suggest you testing rustic strength products. They have detergents, sprays and all purpose cleaners.
I love Sal suds. When I want to make a disinfectant spray, I use rubbing alcohol in the mix 😄 I love it for mopping and occasionally for laundry if I run out of detergent.
So it seems that vinegar does a better job. 🤔 I saw a lady on YT (research scientist) who did testing in 3 households for each experiment. I recall she once tested vinegar vs bleach vs H2O2. Surprisingly the peroxide was the winner over bleach and vinegar. 😯 Unfortunately her videos have been taken down. 😕 But I have been using hydrogen peroxide now for disinfecting. But I do use vinegar and essential oils a lot, too. I bought some Bronner's and Sals Suds but wasn't sure how to best use them. Your videos are a help. Thanks for sharing your results. 🙂👍
I can't speak for someone else's tests, so can't comment on their results. I love testing all sorts of products to see how they work in my home! I am glad you are enjoying the videos!
Yay I’m so glad you did this one! I used it last night for the first time to clean my bathroom, (haven’t done the shower yet) and I was thinking of you, hoping this was taking all the bacteria away lol! The smell is so faint but it smells nice and I feel like it made my surfaces really shiny. Not sure if you have Branch Basics or Young Living Thieves cleaners on your list but I a trying to debate between the 2 before I buy them. Thank you!!!
Thank you for testing!! Can you test Branch Basics? Can you also test a combo of branch basics and vinegar? I would love to see how it disinfects all purpose, bathroom and laundry! The oxi boost by branch basics would be a great test too
Thank you for this test! I am also impressed with the results you got with this cleaner. You wanted to know if Branch Basics ever had a sale. I just got an email that the product is on sale for 10% off right now. 😊
