    Same thing as that first tire bouncing overhead happened to me on a motorcycle. I was boxed in on all sides by trucks and semi's. Someone lost a tire. I saw it coming Right towards me and realized I couldn't stop hard or swerve in any direction. I remember closing my eyes and clenching the bars. Nothing hit me. I looked behind me and the trucks were still right there. Still to this day have no idea where it went but I thought I was dead for a moment.

      When you closed your eyes, quantum mechanics kicked-in and there was an infinitesimally small probability that all the atoms in the tire would pass through all the atoms in your body without any of them occupying the same space at the same time.

    A few years ago, I passed a hearse on fire on a freeway. I found THAT somewhat funny in general. I took a picture of it back then and it was then used by several television news channels in reporting the story. I found the backstory even funnier in a twisted sense. The driver of the hearse was the owner of a mortuary service that only deals with immediate burials without embalming. He was transporting a corpse in a casket but the driver/owner had been drinking alcohol. He had to drive across a toll bridge and he hit a concrete edge of the toll booth with a tire and continued driving. He started driving on the rim of one of the wheels, as it was spraying sparks. The sparks eventually caught the engine compartment of the hearse on fire. He stopped in the middle of a lane of traffic and ran to the side of the road. The fire department WAS able to remove the casket before it burned up. The thought of hoping for burial but ending with cremation was one of several thoughts that ran through my head. Seeing the idiot driving without a wheel reminded me of that.

      There was a tire pile fire in Quebec Canada some decades ago...took literally months to either put out or burn out. Terribly difficult to extinguish when there is a mountain of tires piled up. The heat and toxic gases coming off it meant you could not get close enough to fight it effectively. Was more difficult to fight than the oil rig fires in Kuwait.

    That tyre fire was unsettling . A 15 kg tyre can be turned into about 15 litres of useable diesel fuel plus carbon black ( re-use in paints etc ) and steel if steel belted through a process called anhydrous pyrolysis , in laymans terms heat the waste plastic / tyres in a container with no oxygen and condense the volatiles back to liquid form , filter and refine as needed .
    Once the process is started on industrial scale , some of the fuel produced supplies the heat required to continue processing .
    Instead of paying $5 - $15 at the tip to dump tyres in Australia , they should have a value because every worn out tyre contains a LOT of energy that can be re-used .

    • @Jmoneysmoothboy
      @Jmoneysmoothboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do have a value lol your analysis is just terrible and ignorant. If I have a pile of old tires I can't sell them as "a LOT of energy that can be re-used" I have to sell them as used tires because that is what they are. If I wanted to employ your stupid idea and turn the tires into fuel and paint and bullshit like that I could but the opportunity costs are going to be tremendous. For the sake of argument lets pretend that tires can be turned into various chemicals which can be sold off for some net profit. The capital necessary to build the recycling plant and hire labor and yada yada yada would make bigger and better returns running a fucking lemonade stand than scrapping tires.

    • @Qwertylol

      Yeah, but if that’s in Kuwait like some other users are saying, then they really don’t care. I knew some people who were stationed over there and they saw Ferraris and Lamborghinis abandoned on the side of the road because they ran out of gas. Perfectly good cars, just abandoned. Something tells me they won’t care about how much potential energy a tire has (although I didn’t know that, but that’s actually really cool to me)

    Back in the 1980s I saw several incidents of hub caps rolling. One was rolling along with our car and was occasionally scraping against the concrete divider. Then it hit a bump and took off into the air and flew like a frisbee for a few hundred feet and crashed into the woods. We were laughing hilariously during all of it.

    My ex and I were almost killed by a tire. From a tractor trailer, so it was a big one...On an interstate, we were driving in the far left lane in our Chevy van- the tractor trailer was on our far right- when an axel snapped on one of its' (many) tires and it came bouncing across the road, from right to left, headed directly for us. Slammed into our van and slowed us down from 65mph to 10mph in seconds. The tractor trailer got off the next exit as did we, police were called to assess the situation. We were told that we were fortunate to be in a van and not a regular vehicle because of where the tire hit. It would've come straight through the windshield, possibly killing us.

    Reminds me of an accident my dad and I witnessed where a tire caved in the roof of a car onto the passenger's head. They were on the opposite side of the highway as us and they were pulling over at the same time we were. My dad jumped out, hopped the median, the other driver jumped out, he jumped in their seat and started performing first aid until the ambulances got there. At one point some other lady came up and told him to get out of the way because she was a nurse, and his response was basically "what would you like me to stop doing first? Applying pressure to the wound or supporting her neck?" "Oh....yeah....keep doing that."

A racer in a formula 3 had a tire come off its axel, wheel and all was bouncing at high speed over the track and into the press area. I hit the Yellow caution flag and apparently saved another blokes life in doing so. That racer was soo thankful he took me later for a lap in the pace car. Holy shit it was awesome 😃.

    It shows how well tires are engineered that they do what they were made to do regardless if they’re attached to any vehicle. In fact most of those tires drove better than people in cars do.
