Adding up the production numbers on wikipedia (who knows if they're accurate) I get 190,428, that's a tiny number compared to almost any other truck from 1985 to 1992. Effin' A, Cotton. Those Teraflex lifts, Springs, Control Arms, Falcon Shocks, Steering Stab, etc, we're talking ballpark $2500, plus tires which are also not accounted for, guessing maybe another $800 and we're looking at damned near $15k for this "Cheap Jeep".
      Let's also not kid ourselves about being "Stock", Roman. You're throwing brand new suspension on this thing; if you were concerned about remaining stock, you'd just have the bushings in the control arms redone and call it a day. Being worried about the shift knob is splitting hairs.
      I like you guys, TFL, but let's not bullshit here. My own Cheap Jeep is only at maybe $3k, all in; that is a cheap Jeep.
      I live less than an hour away from your guys' office if you need to me to come over and show you what that looks like.
      Again, I like you and am going to continue watching, but let's be realistic.

    • @beardyhat9547
      @beardyhat9547 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigslacker666 I get that, but for many of us, we can drop $15k on our Jeep just as easily as we could drop $60k on a new JL.
      That is, we can't. Judging by the comments, it doesn't seem to be a minority.
      Not to mention, let's address the fact that not including a bunch of expensive, gifted parts is pretty disingenuous; especially when you're trying to keep your spend under a certain point by not accounting for them.
      I like this build, I like TFL, but at least let's account for everything and then let the viewers judge for themselves if this is truly a Cheap Jeep at the end of the series.

    This is fun and all but how can this NOT be sponsored video?
    You got thousand and thousands of $ in free parts and yet you have no problem adding up the money and say that it's still inexpensive?
    So...
    The tires was free. How much are they worth?
    The lift kit was free. How much is that worth?
    Did Devon give you any discount for viral publicity (installing, modding, exhaust etc)?
    Did the transmission guy give you any discount for viral publicity?
    How much are "you" into this without all the discounts/free stuff?

    Enjoying this series. Working through a basket case 87 shortbed right now. It has the best bar you referred to in part 1. 2WD truck, originally 4cyl/ax5, was swapped for a 4.0 Renix in the past. When I got it a carb era 2.5 and ax5 had been bolted back in it. Keeping the Renix 429 ECM and looking for a 95 4.0 and ax15. Already have an np231, a high pinion Dana 30 is easy to find from cherokees in local boneyards. Finishing up floor pans and interior restoration at this point.
