I'm still running completely stock on my Regal. I keep waiting for the trans to give out to start throwing parts at the car but I'm at 278k, with the original trans. Been the best car I've had and certainly the most fun to drive!
I just got my Regal with 116,000 miles. I replaced a bunch a horses (the darn collant elbow) and the belt tensioner. Other than that, my favorite economical engine just shines in thag regal. The 3800 Series is a beast
GM did an excellent job on the the regal, all the comfort of a luxury and some little power under the hood.they never intended for this car to be a (RACE CAR)..that being said great job GM builind an affordable fun comfy sedan 👍
I once ran a 3.8 on 50/50 Gas/Kerosene when i was broke and needed to get back home. I feel bad how much i abused that engine as a teen but i did keep the oil changed and that's all it seemed was needed.
@1997RegalGS thanks but to be honest I had bad control arm bushing which made it peel more. As you can see from 0-40. I was also running a summer tire that had a slight lower profile. I am looking to update my videos in the near future as I have more mods and even more to be installed and tuned again. New set up will be 3.2 pulley, ZZP headers, E-cutout, 1.9RR with 105# springs, 65# injectors for E85. Should be at least a solid mid 13s if not better. Thanks for the comment.
Beautiful build. I had a 1998 PAU, but I since got a Regal GS after hitting a power pole with the Park Avenue. Black ice, and someone left a snow pile in the middle of the road after plowing a laneway. I was NOT impressed, but it is what it is. I plan on tearing the engine out of the smached Buick and building it fromt he bottom up and putting it in the Regal. Cam, injectors, full stainless mandrel bent exhaust, intake, tune, smaller pulley and intercooler. I can't wait!!
Before you run these cars hard and mod them, you should seafoam the engine to remove the carbon buildup on the pistons and valves so you can run more timing without getting KR. You will be very surprised at the difference, based on my experience.
@@MrItsCurious scored a one owner 120k mile white gs for my father in law for 1100. He gave it to his son who didnt register or insure it and it was gone in less than 2 weeks
Quick question, I am considering buying a 2002 Regal GS, and I've heard all kinds of mixed messages in regards to running regular (86 octane) vs mid grade or premium. I plan on modifying it lightly (K&N cold air intake, copper spark plugs, smaller S/C pulley) Would I damage the pistons if I ran it on regular? What do you recommend?
It's a battery light. hence the battery image. Damn ZZP PCM, oh well I have since tuned and highly modded this car myself. Should really see the other videos.
I'm running 65# Siemens injectors, hot wire and stock pump. Will eventually switch the pump to a Racetronix or PRJ pump both plug n play Walbro 255. Changing the fuel filter also after switching.
I'm buying a 99 regal gs it only needs a rear window regulator and the front bumper fixed a little bit, I couldn't pass on it not for $1600 everything is still factory bone stock including the chrome wheels and the factory stereo, no doubt about it I'm going to have to do a repaint but I'm keeping it the original forest green color, car only has 110,000 miles on it elderly owned so it has never been beat on , serviced by the same Chevy dealership it's whole life. The leather is in mint condition same with the carpets and floor mats. Can't wait until I have it at home.
Just realized and doesn’t seem like anyone else has said anything about it but he launched with it in 3rd and not it 1st or in drive. With it in 3rd it will shift it for you through 1st and 2nd and then you will stay in 3rd gear the rest of the ride until you push it up to D for it to hit 4th gear. I’m going to have to try a launch like this I have never tried it.
I can't believe people still comment on this old slow video of my old car. I guess I should start taking advise from TH-camrs what psi I should run in my street ETs.
I have an 04 monte ss supercharged with the same motor i recomend premium especially if u plan on moding because i had kr when running 86 octane and 0 kr with 93 octane
I have a friend that puts a lot of money in his Regal GS supercharged.. Pully, computer, exhaust, Cold air Intake all the ZZP performance stuff.. and i race him in my Stock series 2 N/A 3800 impala and he beats me but not by a whole lot.. Seems like a waist of money to me.. The only way to make these 3800s really fast is to Rebuild the Engine and Change the supercharger..
Just bought this same car with a bunch of perf goodies- ZZP everything, headers, gutted cats, EGR delete, larger throttle body, rebuilt and polished supercharger, tune, etc. Kinda quick (I'm used to C5 Vettes), this car still feels dull despite having some ponies. Really wish it would hook up better, gonna have to upgrade tires or something. Can't give it half throttle at first, and no sensation of 'speed' with the Buick suspension or something. You have no idea youre going as quick as you are. I still need a magnaflow muffler that will sound and perform slightly better, and a cold-air intake (somehow I'll make it a ram-air, havent looked at it closely yet). Previous owner installed colder spark plugs, which he admits hurt the mileage, I wonder if that was necessary. May go with E3 Diamondfire, I've been impressed with them in several other engines. Any other reccomendations on the cheap as this car isnt worth much? Also, do you guys find the driver seat unusually uncomfortable for a Buick? Reasonably Buick-like soft, but poor shape for lower back support for 'skinny' guy. Should/could I go Bilsteins to firm up Buick ride a bit?
@SgtPickledic Its what you make it to be. Sounds like there is issues here. Tune is everything in these cars. Nothing to do with motor/supercharger. a mail order canned tune suck.
3.8 supercharged v6, in 2000?! I only know European cars, it makes me think about bmw 3.8 6 in line E34 M5 : 340 hp (1989-1993), so add a supercharger and you get around 390 hp on the crank here?
I ran one of these the other day, some guy driving like an ass, switching lanes and speeding... he wanted to run so I came up to a stoplight next to him, destroyed him by 2 cars on 3/4ths throttle and granny shifting (shifted at 5k)... my Z is not even tuned... I do admit they're quick especially modded... I cant wait to turbo my Z and finish my drift setup tho..
gotta love those late 90s Supercharged GM 3.8s.... they had some good balls behind them.
the only car from GM that i adore. excellent ride and it looks fantastic, quick too.

I believe it, experienced it myself with a 1996 regal GS (no supercharger that year)

Fastest Buick I've ever seen....
I bought a mint '98 Regal GS from an old man for 2k. Best buy ever.

This one has an aftermarket PCM.
The stock PCM does not let the engine red line.
Yep its the ZZP PCM 1.0. A MUST for any 3800 supercharged car
James Whitaker A must if you want to learn how to install some new pistons.
It's an awesome vid lol! Ya just stomp the shit outta it. Sounds really good. My L67 probably needs a rebuild soon!

Not bad for a pushrod V6
And the alternator light was on, too.
