I love Tom DeLonge and Blink-182. That looks like a fun build. Those Invader pickups are a ton of money, but this one you got in the kit sounds pretty damn close to me!
Would be fun if you brought your build to the guitar store to compare to the real deal signature Fender Strat. Plug both in and see how they stack up!
I also love that Sean totally sprayed his hand and didn’t even care, lol. I know he always wears PPE on his face, but no gloves?! Hope you had some paint thinner on hand . . . unless you’re going for the Blue Man Group look in teal, lol. 😂😂😂

Man that kit is tempting! I just started working on a Delonge style build using a strat copy I got at a yard sale for 25 bucks and some Wilkinson tuners and a Wilkinson humbucker from Amazon haha
Btw, forgot to say something in my first post. A lot of men think women are boneheads and can’t fix anything. Lots of women are professional car mechanics and there are even women who work as pro guitar techs and luthiers who are extremely talented and capable. As one of the gals (and the OG gal of Scarred Nation), I really enjoy seeing Cathy work on building and fixing the guitars sometimes too. Our regulars know that Cathy is a powerhouse with pickups, but showing her help repair and build guitars might teach the trolls out there that us girls are just as capable of not more so. We can learn to do anything the boys can do and can often learn to do it better (and don’t dare challenge that statement or you’ll get kabonked by both me AND Cathy! 🏏💫💥😵💫🤯).
That said, as a content suggestion, would be fun to occasionally have Cathy do her own full builds and repairs - it would cool to see what she already knows and show how quickly us girls can learn to fix/build new things.

Yo, I don't get why people think a signature guitar is worth so much. It's not like the artist played it or signed it or anything. I dig that body, though. It doesn't have a trem system, but it does have the string-through, which I prefer to a hard tail.

That is a hard tail, they can be either string through or top loading.
Templates to cut Fender headstocks can be found online
You're right about the over pricing by Fender of the artist models. The chapest artist Strat is close to 1200 while you can buy a player series for 600. There's absolutely no justification for the doubling og the price. Most of the artist guitars have nothing special about them with the exception of the twp Brad Paisely models which have specialized bodies and of course the Brent Mason model but these are way over priced also. They should be about 700 and 1000 respectively instead of 1500 and 2500. I have the Paisely Esquire and guess what. The neck is a littl over 1 mm narrower at the heal. Doesn't sound like much but the bottom string has a nasty habbit of slipping off the neck.....I have a standard Tele neck that I'm going to put on the guitar but I shouldn't have to be doing this kind of crap......

This is exactly why I don't shell out money for a signature guitar. It makes no sense when you can get a kit like this. People like to pay for the logo on the headstock. I'm guilty of it myself. What it comes down to is playability and there are plenty of cheaper guitars that fit the bill. Great video!
I got a wall of cheap guitars that play as good as any Fender! It's just a piece of wood. Learn how to work with it and you can make a Glarry play great.

It all comes down to what you put on it the same thi g as when you buy a base model mustang or a shelby mustang it's the parts you put on it. It's the same thing with guitars.

When you build yours, you be sure to use one. I said I wasn't looking to make it exact in the video. I had more fun drawing it myself. Makes it original with a shout out to the Fender shape.

Very informative video, interesting the way that you used rolled up sand paper on the head stock. How many coats of paint do you use when painting the guitar and do you use a primer or have to seal the wood?

Just built mine. I went with candy pink with silver sparkels and i went with a matching headstock. I used a measuring scoop with a handle to draw my headstock template. Wasnt trying to make it exact Femder lol
These budget builds are right up my alley. I cant deal with those blown up prices either so i build my own. I basically built for a grand what most pay 5g's for.

I can't believe the scam Fender is getting away with on this... A strat body, with ONE single large-pole humbucker. No Bells, no whistles, just a std. strat, with just one pickup.....
Anyone who buys that, and doesn't build one on the cheap like you did, clearly has more money and brains... It's a $150 Seymor-Duncan pickup, $100 hardware and electronics, and if you go nice, about $200 for the neck and body.... Fender is bilking name-obsessed people, too lazy to do some simple tech-work, for $1300 on a guitar whose retail parts are maybe $450 - 500.... Is having Fender's name on it worth $800 extra?
Nope, not a chance. Just get an HSS strat, and have some extra pickup options.... I don't want to call the people who buy the Fender version "stupid", but I really can't think of a better word to describe that mindset...
I mean you could argue that some Fenders are overpriced but, if you're going to have a go at a premium brand for charging premium prices, then you should really be aiming your comments at Gibson.
Their prices have skyrocketed over the last few years and they're now just ridiculously overpriced.
@@FlameFlickers - You're not wrong. I just wasn't commenting on Gibson, because this wasn't Gibson doing this one... This one was all Fender. But yeah, Gibson is mostly over-priced garbage these days as well. And by "garbage", I don't mean the guitars are "bad". I just mean that you could get a better guitar for less than $500 - $1000 as opposed to spending $2k+ on a Gibson.
Both Fender and Gibson seem to need to "wake up" and realize the up-and-comers (like Leo Jaymz) are putting out very serviceable and player friendly guitars for a small fraction of the price of their stuff. There may be some people who are still impressed by seeing "Fender" or "Gibson" on a headstock, but I think most people who actually play and appreciate guitars have realized the "brand" of a guitar has very little to do with how "good" the guitar is.
