With air locking 4:11 differentials, Dana 44 axles, and a 4:1 Rock Track transfer case, it can go pretty much anywhere I want! Sucks on gas mileage but more than makes up for that given the fun factor.
As wormmy pointed out, if all that stuff bothers you, you can still order a brand new JK with no A/C, no power anything, a basic radio, and 2 doors. And they're still the most capable off-road vehicle you can buy off a showroom floor. I don't see the problem, even if Jeep has the "audacity" to offer those options to people that may want them.

I am not a big fan of them, but they still have solid front axle, lockers in the Rubicon, and are great off-road, they are just different, but nowhere near an insult..And if your top is off and A/C not on in the summer it must not get too hot were you are, it was over 100 degrees here, and my A/C in my TJ was cranked..
I live in New Mexico. It gets 100+ degrees here. At that point the safari top gets put on but the full top and doors are still removed and the A/C is still off. And yes, Im snobby.. Because I feel REAL Jeeps shouldnt have GPS SAT NAV Touch screen, power everything, keyless entry, remote start. yeah, Im the snobby one....

Then took it to Wooly's offroad park here in TN and not a single time got stuck and a couple times one of my wheels left the ground but it still kept going. A completely stock TJ comes with 31" and they flex quite a bit. they flex more then a pickup truck stock for sure. Hell even with a 2" or 3" lift My TJ will flex more then a stock pick up

While you sealed up in your city slicker "Jeep" with your A/C I'll be having a grand ol time with the top off, doors off and windshield folded down with my left foot resting on the foot peg enjoying the outdoors.
