    I like it! Common, inexpensive materials used to get the job done and a matter of fact delivery without any time-wasting amateur music video crap.....how refreshing! I had been thinking about building a similar ramp using a combination of plastic lawnmower wheels and plastic lattice for the ways but I like your simple rollers even better. Gonna give this some thought for a new canal property with a low sea wall we are in the process of buying. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Brilliant idea! Thank you! And I love the idea of making it with PVC pipe as someone suggests.

    I like your plan, simple and effective. I am designing a semi-permanent setup for my backyard and was thinking I’d have to get a lot of expensive wheels. I think this concept will be easier and safer as well as a lot less money. I’m planning on about a 14 foot total length that will end in the water. Also thinking about some type of anchor point that I can attach a line to to effect launching and landing. If I ever put it all together I’ll probably do a quick video and will acknowledge your inspiration. Thanks for a great video.

    It has been a few years since you made this. Is it still “rolling” properly? Any changes you would recommend? Really like the concept! Thanks

      @Aksmaniyak  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you. The only change I would be making it a little wider and longer to reduce the angle.

    I like your design! Is there something that can be used to make this lighter? Also, how would you put a support to assist in getting into and out of the kayak? Do you have any ideas?

    • @brimstone33
      @brimstone33 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could likely make the support frame out of 4 inch PVC pipe which should be much lighter than 2x4's.

    Great idea-Curious , what is your Kayak? Does the swivel seat come with the kayak or is it an add on?FYI - if you would use a larger Diameter Pvc & conduit it would roll easier.+ put some oil on the conduit & or coat the inside of the pvc with oil.

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Bob. That is a Nucanoe Frontier 12 kayak. The swivel seat is an option. I'm sure the design can be improved; I put it together with stuff I had in the garage.

    Good thinking on a simple solution for a age old problem, especially for age-old guys like me that can’t drag things as easy as before. Also, very curious about the make of the boat you have there. Can you share the specs?

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks...yes it does help us older guys. Be smarter don't work harder. It is a Nucanoe Frontier 12. It is a very stable kayak with 650lb weight load.

    This is very much like what I need to get my kayak up and down a steep bank to the river. Mine would need to be 18 feet long. How far apart do the spacers go? Also, I have some ~3 inch diameter birch logs I was thinking of using instead of the 2 x 4s. Do you think those would work or would they interfere with the rollers?

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sizing will depend on your kayak hull. I don't know about using logs but 2x4s are still relatively cheap.

  • @garyhouck8629
    @garyhouck8629 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for your video. I was thinking about using your design for a peddle boat. Mine would need to be longer and wider. Do you think pvc could be used instead of the 2x4’s to help keep the weight down ?

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are welcome. I'm not sure if you could attach the hole straps to the pipe.

  • @resoluteretreat1532
    @resoluteretreat1532 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've ordered the EMT Pipes and PVC and will need to go longer with my design, maybe 14' I'm thinking with the longer length I might need to go with 2" x 6" PT boards, 16" on center support braces, and every 20" with a roller. Probably will make it 5' wide so I can load and unload a pedal boat and my kayak. Your thoughts please!

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have been thinking the same things as I have just picked up a 13' 40" wide skiff.

    • @resoluteretreat1532
      @resoluteretreat1532 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have an Old Town Kayak Sportsman powered by Minn Kota 10.6 so I'm thinking the 2" x 6" 14' would be a better choice than the 2" x 4" - need the extra strength . . . only problem would be heavier!

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@resoluteretreat1532 Maybe a composite type of board would be lighter.
