Tips and Tricks: How to Launch a Kayak from a Dock

  • In this video, I show you how to get in and out of your kayak when your kayak is below you on a dock.
This dock I am using may be a bit deeper or shallower than a dock you may use, but if your legs can reach the kayak with your bottom still on the dock, then this technique will work.
In this video, I am using a Ck1 Venture from Crescent Kayaks and a Bending Branches Navigator Angler Paddle.

Thanks Duck! Got a rental house in a few months in Florida. All my years Yak fishing I’ve never had to dock lunch.

Thanks a million for this Donald. Got a Kayak for first time few months back and always wondered how to do this. There are lots of lovely rivers here in Ireland but very few have slip ways and mostly cater for cruisers with docks. Now I have more choice.

As a long-term kayaker, I never thought I'd need to look at something like this. Until I managed to flip my kayak getting out at a cock! Decided to review the procedure and your video was spot on.

Thanks!! I am glad it can help. I had to learn the hard way and got dumped a few times when I first started, it happens to us all at some point. :)

Bottom line: there is no graceful way to get in or out of a kayak :)

      LOL!!
You can get graceful, but it takes practice…that younger you are the easier it is!!
