    was going to buy that hammer but geez
    40-70 bucks depending on the options
    10 for shipping
    plus they make you buy the install kit separately that's another 3
    plus 13 bucks for shipping your screws
    I could just buy another skeletool for that and use it as a hammer

    you have good taste! I rock a ad15 lite and a spydie chef on a regular basis. They are GREAT. I've been interested in a multi tool for a while now and the skeletool caught my eye especially the 154cm version but I found a basic version at Walmart for like 20$ so I jumped on it. So far I'm impressed especially after watching your videos. I think that Skeletool CX would make a good pair with Crunch. There would be practically no redundant tools. You would get Crunch vice grip pliers along with CX light duty needle nose one (which can be reduced to even a finer point as we have seen from your video). You would get Crunch full serated blade and CX 154cm plain edge blade. The Crunch offers a file and some real flat drivers that can work for some light duty prying as well (skeletool's bit exchanger can't really be used for prying). Since Crunch also has phillips driver you got your basic driving needs covered and you could put different bits to your skeletool's bit exchanger and bit storage. Maybe some small size torx and middle size allen bits would work nice. Plus you could use that saw and diamond file from surge even without modifing them since Crunch can lock them safely in it's vice grip.

    • @kingpin11111
      @kingpin11111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And come to think of it, I would add a victorinox Compact. By this, you would get scissors, corkscrew, can opener, tweezers, toothpick, pen, hook and pin. Almost no tools would be redundant to your Crunch and CX duo. The only redundant tool would be the Compact's small knife, since you already have your nice CX 154cm blade. But even then, you may find use of the small Compact blade in times when you don't want to scare people with bigger knife like in the office or similar place. This Crunch/CX/Compact trio might have the best overall ratio of ability vs weight. The only thing that is really missing from this trio is an awl/reamer, but I rarely find use fot that tool anyway.

    • @adamcarson3363
      @adamcarson3363 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kingpin11111 the victorinox small knife is very thin and because of that has different cutting geometry, so it actually isn't redundant at all imo. The victorinox larger knife may be redundant since you have the skeletool cx but the skeletool is thicker than the vic as well, and you can have one good knife and one beater knife

    Its strange that you say the flat bit holder has spring retention, mine does not and It actually does a fairly poor job of holding the bit in place. I dropped it on the floor once and the bit went flying across the floor into a crack and was irretrievable. when I picked the tool up the holder was still closed it just popped right out. I do definitely want to dry a diamond file in it regardless.

    so whats your critique on the skeletool?

  • @jayn8392
    @jayn8392 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I love the cx as a edc. But for work I do prefer something like the wave or surge. I do building maintenance and my boss is a cheap moron who doesn't keep anything we need in stock, and steals tools from bags and just treats the budget like it is his actual account. Like we didn't have and actual clear drywall anchors the other day and he just made us "find something that will work". And then he will also never put clear anchors on a the list of supplies to be restocked. And the thing we were hanging was even dumber. It was one of those clear plastic corner protectors you see in office buildings and schools. Well usually you just throw the old one away and get a new pair for like 10$. But noooooo, we had to reuse the ones we had removed. And they were covered in dried paint and mud and wall texture and drywall paper, because whatever dumb dumb didn't let anything dry when installing them. So we spent 2 hrs trying various methods of removing the paint. From plastic scrappers to razor scrapers. Finally I just said screw it and dumped a bunch of acytle alcohol on it, let it soak and hit it with a greed scrubby pad. Got the paint of but it look like complete crap from all the scratching and scraping. Luckily once it was on the wall it only looked as bad as the others that had been replaced and we avoided a talking too. But seriously, he wasted paying us for 2-2.5 hrs to search for hardware and clean these stupid things when it should have been a 5 minute job. Just because he doesn't want to buy ANYTHING new. So having one of the fatty Leathermans on me all the time has saved my butt a time or two. Like when no hacksaw could be found so I used a t shank metal bit on my surge. But for normal life I love the skeletool. But it's just too dinky for much at an job site. I don't even mess with victornox.. I see them as more of knife you carry to an office job where you may need to open some mail or packages, or like you said, trim some finger nails. Much more than that and you're SOL. I also don't get it when people carry a skeletool and then some massive cold steel thing. I mean... I get carrying a dedicated knife but I have never been in a situation where I needed a multi tool along with a giant second blade. I usually carry like a rat folder or like an elementum on top of the tool. Because honestly, at work still I rarely need my pocket knife for anything but opening bags and packages anyways.

      @@maxlvledc mine work really well not compared to victorinox but no scissors ive ever owned do and some people dont know how to sharpen the Micra; again never have needed to sharpen my sak so touchè. The built in tweezers is what does it for me. Used it to hold a joint once as a joke and it worked so well haha.

    I don't mean to be too critical but can you tell me what on earth you do an a daily basis where you need to carry that AD15 as an EDC? I just don't get the infatuation with having such a large knife other than if on felt they wanted it for self defense, in which case there would be better suited knives.
    Again I don't mena to be critical. I do appreciate the over all focus of the video.

      @maxlvledc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no your fine! I just don't always see all the comments lol. The reason I carry something as big as the AD-15 is in part because I hate carrying tools in my EDC that are repetitive. The best compliment to a multitool with a one handled blade is a Large folder (slicy) or a fixed blade. The reason I carry so much is not because I am afraid of the world, its because I have found having tools on hand has been crucial in being able to help others. And I spend a lot of time modifying things. Therefore, pry tools, and even dedicated tools really come in handy.

      @@maxlvledc I appreciate the reply. Again I wasn't trying to be critical. I also carry a knife and agree a dedicated folder is nice to have along side a multi tool. I do the same. I just don't have one that is that big as it seems unnecessary for day to day tasks, unless of course it is industry specific. For example if your day to day job was bushcrafting then I would say absolutely, even carry a larger fixed blade but majority of day to day tasks can be handled just as readily with a much smaller blade that is less intimidating to others.
      To be clear it doesn't offend me. I'm not being a "Karen" lol. I just tend towards efficiency and doing the most with the least needed to get the job done.
      At any rate it's your edc so at the end of the day it's not my preference that matters. That ks again for the reply.

      @@aubreygmcghee Completely get it. for me if I go any smaller on the blade than 3.3" I think I may as well skip a folder entirely. I can always justify a fixed blade..but not for a small folder if I am already carrying something like a Signal or Skeletool.

    I think a worthwhile modification would be taking the blade off an original skeletool and replacing it with the scissors from the surge and creating the Skeletool PS!

I tried asking leatherman if it was even possible and they said they dont give out that kind of information due to possibly voiding the warranty. I actually prefer the scissors in the Leatherman Wave+ over the scissors from Victorinox. Most of why I don't prefer the Swiss Army scissors is the spring... it bends and breaks far too easily, and then the scissors become just a small knife with extra garbage in the way.

      Sponsored by Leatherman comment? Never heard of anyone preferring any leatherman scissors over victorinox. You can find several tests of the two and victorinox wins in every type of cut, even against the surge. Leatherman scissors are SO BAD, I usually prefer to mod removing them and put the swisscard victorinox scissors on one of the big 4. Way better cut capability, hands down.

      Leatherman wave scissors are not better than vics.
      I have multiple over the years and still have them wave+ scissors after awhile barely cut paracord.
      Vics scissors cut damn near anything and cuts it so cleanly. Even thick plastics straps we use in our big warehouse at work.
