Gunsmith here ….. springs get broken in by compression cycles, not just compression ……. So for magazines, load and unload the mag several times to break in new springs vs leaving them loaded for an extended period to break them in
Bought 2 of the "regular" PSA magazines. Ran 250 rounds through each using 115, 124, and 147gr FMJ. Also 124 +p HST and 147 +p+ Underwood JHP. Utterly PERFECT operation. I've ran through a handful of SA mags and every one of them had some type of issue. Just ordered 5 more from PSA. I can't say enough about them!
@@MomoTrader809How are the PSA mags treating you? Currently have the shield arms and I’m about the throw the things away as well. Nothing but issues for me so now I’m looking at the PSA mags.
Just tried out my untried, new PSA 15 round Dagger magazine this past Friday in my 43x. I ran 200 rounds of ammunitions through this mag that consisted of 124 grain Federal HST, Magtech 115 Grain, and Nautilus 124 grain. This magazine ran perfectly without any issues what so ever. Slingshot of the slide, no problem; slide release, no problem. I am extremely impressed with this mag. BTW, your mention of seeing some of that chrome at the base between the grip and the mag base plate, is the same distance that you see the black at the base of the grip and the base plate on the Glock OEM mag. Right out of the cellophane, the Dagger mag ran solid. I would be comfortable carrying this mag. Thank you for putting out this great review. Good luck on your continued use of the Dagger Mags!!
I have a G48. I bought 3 Shield Arms S15 gen 3 mags, mag release. Ran 200 rounds ball thru them, no issues. Ran 100 JHP thru them, no issues. Customer service answered my questions and gave me a MIL/ LEO discount. Very happy !
Great video. I got my G43x about 3 months ago and was waiting specifically for these to get in stock because of the 50/50 issues with the sheild arms mags. Finally got 3 of them, and they did NOT disappoint. Only uncertainty , like you mentioned, is longevity. Only time will tell. Thanks
So far, I've only read one comment on Reddit where someone stated. They ran into issues after about 300 rounds through these mags. But this is just a random comment i read on the internet
That's absolutely genius that psa left the magazine mold as polymer. No need to change mag catches. ALSO - No need to load the magazine and let it just sit. You can get the magazine spring to it's proper set much faster just by loading and unloading the magazine 5 or 6 times.
I believe the SA mag release flair is on the left of the mag . Making your mag release on the right. I notice pushing it in the spring rubs the metal release. I saw visible wear from rubing on the spring .. I am going to put my mag release on the right and see if that helps. I just got a 43x with 2 sheld 15rd , and I am now questioning it. I never liked glocks, but I saw this set up and said ok .I hope that when I shoot mine, it runs fine .
@@bryantevis6680my SA mags run fine. Only issue I have is when I chamber the first round… it some times jams. But then shoots and runs fine. I still plan to get the PSA mags for carry and keep the SA mags for the range.
I got mine yesterday and Dude the saran wrap threw me completely of guard but they did a good job wrapping them up so they didn’t come damaged. All in all I’m satisfied
Thanks for your evaluation of these PSA magazines . I have a Glock 48 which is my edc and although I settled for the fact that it only carries 10 rounds , I agree with your perspective that "more is better" . They seemed to perform excellently , and it's great to know I now can have a G-19 but with a better feel . Great video , Great job !
Great video! Another point to be made for PSA over Shield Arms...it's not just the cost savings from not having to buy a metal mag catch/release, the opportunity cost of having to shelve two or three pefectly good Glock OEM mags should be factoreed in as well. I have seen how quickly a metal mag release will chew up and ruin a Glock mag. Running the PSA mags then allows me to run the Glock 10 round mags interchangeably with the PSA mags affording the peace of mind that I won't ruin my Glock mags and at the same time I continue to get practical use out of them. As it is right now, my Glock mags are in storage since I am using the S15 mags. Based on your testing, I have decided to try a PSA Micro Dagger magazine in my G43x MOS. If it works out as I expect, I will just eat the investment I have made in five S15 mags, a metal mag release and two S15 mag extensions. The S15s have been ok but the occasional but rare issues I have with them still nag at my mind.
Good points. And metal mag catches do indeed wear down polymer mags. Have seen posts from people running glock mags in ruger pc carbines which come with a metal mag catch with pics showing mags wearing down to the point of not holding in the magwell.
The PSA and Shield mags are, essentially, the same dimensions as the metal liner under the polymer of a Glock 19 magazine. There was a dude on here that took one of those and turned it into a 15 round 43X magazine; the problem was the polymer coating added length front to back, and removing both caused issues. Shield had issues because they were shorter in that dimension, hence why their gen3 has those bumps/ridges on the back to try and take up that space to keep the rounds oriented in the right spot. And PSA, of course, went with a hybrid metal/poly design to avoid having that same issue, as well as allow the use of the OEM polymer mag release.
I purchased two of the PSA micro dagger mags (black finish), and they performed very well. I had one failure to feed, but after shooting 100 more rounds, no issues. I have to say I am impressed with the mags.
glad to hear all the positives on these mags, got my 43x MOS about 2 months ago and have been dying to get a 15 round mag or two but was scared to get the shield arms mags, might just have to go with these, stoked to see more!
I think the PSA mag is a good choice. You don't have to change anything on your pistol, and if you get the black one, it's cheaper than the Chrome one. Just plug and play with these magazines. If you don't like it, you're out 30 dollars, not 80.
@@BigTimberLodge definitely seems logical, i was also going to upgrade my sights do you have any recommendations? i have the MOS so i wanna leave room in the rear for an optic in the future if i decide to get one
kind of surprised every time I hear people having issues with S15s, considering I have 15k rounds through them with the only issue being failure to lock the slide open when the spring wears out. That said I'm glad these PSA mags exist just because they're cheaper!
I've had a 100% success rate with my Gen 2 S15 mags, and they are part of my EDC setup with my non MOS 43X. HOWEVER, my Gen 3s, they gave me a lot of issues at first, and because of that, they became range mags. Now, to be fair, I have had 0 issues with the PSA mags and they are part of my EDC setup with my 43X MOS, but I do have viewers that have issues with the PSA mags.
Just ran 350 rounds through 2 of these mags yesterday, 100 each of 115 fmj, 124 tmc, 147 fmj and 50 of 135 critical duty flexLock hollow point. Zero malfunctions and locked open after last round every time.
I have two now but have not tried the second one yet. The first one now has 300 rounds through it and not a single issue. I plan to go to the range later this week to put a few more rounds through my first mag and check the new one functions ok as well. I am using the one I have tested as my primary carry mag. Very happy. My shipping was faster than yours for sure. First one took 10 days but was over a holiday, the second one was ordered on a Monday and arrived on the Friday.😊
Glad to hear you are enjoying these new mags. Also, good to know that the shipping was faster for you than me. Did yours come in a different type of packaging?
@@BigTimberLodge Mine was in a box because I ordered some ammo at the same time but in both cases they were just wrapped in plastic, bubble wrap in between the mags and the ammo.
For anyone wondering, the PSA mags work completely fine with shield arms mag release. I bought the exact same magazine. They shipped in the exact same way. It took a month. Maybe I have abnormally strong fingers but I loaded both mags to 15. Using my thumb and pressing it against my bed mattress… Flawless…
Thank you so much for this video. I don't know why more Glock people are not talking about the micro dagger mags. Everyone talks about Shield and the tons of extensions. I have always wanted a mag that doesn't sacrifice my low profile carry like my Ghost Inc extensions, but I wanted 13-15 rounds. The Micro Dagger mags are perfect as I also don't want to change my mag catch.
Just got two of them for my 43X MOS. Have ran each mag at least a hundred rounds with various grains. No issue yet. I heard of too many issue with the SH 15's. Plus having to swap out the mag release. Glad PSA has come out with a better alternative.
Had similar experiences with range style shooting. Limp wristed in a compressed retention position cause 3 malfs in about 40 rounds fired from such a condition. You should always strive for the full extension shooting position, you just may not always GET that. No such issue with the factory mags.
Same here, took a few weeks to arrive, and was in a bubble-wrap bag and wrapped in Saran Wrap. Haven't put any rounds through them, but I hope to this coming weekend.
I received my magazines packaged exactly as your came. The two mags that I ordered came with the black finish. I haven't put a lot of rounds through them yet but what I have all run fine. Also they were fired with a Glock 43X.
I EDC my Shield Arms S15 mags for about 2 years straight and never unloaded them. I had spring set and wouldn't lock the slide on empty or reliably feed. Shield Arms fixed it for free.
Excellently engineered and high quality product. PSA has quickly become one of my favorite suppliers. Those guys really have their thinking caps on. Semper Fi
I was pro Shield Arms S15 mags. I got a 43X just for these mags. I ordered the Gen 1 S15’s they ran fine. After a few hundred rounds they wouldn’t lock the slide back when empty. SA said I needed to BUY the power springs to fix the error, their bad, but, I have to BUY. 1st issue. They continued to run well. SA eventually started using just the power springs in the mags. I bought close to 100 for our group. I let one of the guys take my personal ones as I had some on order. They shipped the Gen 2 mags. THOSE WERE CRAP1 literally 3 jams per mag, all 3 mags. Then tried each mag 2 more times. 3 mags, 3 more jams per mag, it’s like they were counting. I contacted SA and they wanted to blame the mag catch, theirs, I need the newer one and operator error. I sold those and found 3 Gen 1’s. Too late my trust was gone! I sold those Gen ones even though they worked ok I went back to oem mags. There was always a lot of play when the SA mags were in the pistol. I found the PSA micro dagger mags, & the pistol like all of you. I ordered 2 of the “slick” mags when I saw the polymer over the metal. Hey that’s a winner! I got them in 3-4 days. The mags came in the Shrink Wrap, not Saran Wrap. It’s an industrial thing. No big deal, I was fine if they came un wrapped. The big thing I like initially, is the ability to use either mag, as in no mag catch swap. You could with the other mags, the SA, but damage will happen to the polymer at some point. I tried them in my buddy’s pistol a 43X. No more play than the original Glock mags. A good sign. This is the real issue with the S15’s. The follower and mag notch for the catch all matched my OEM mags, another good sign. Then they ran great, locked the slide back, no issues. I would love to try the micro dagger. For $28.99 I got the blemished ones, I can’t find the blemishes anywhere. I don’t trust aftermarket parts as much as OEM, but so far would go with these.
I got some of the slick finish mags and one regular old black finish. They all worked the same, which for me was perfectly fine. I probably only have 250 rounds total through all of them, but so far so good. I will feel better about all of this after another couple of hundred rounds. I did not care about the packaging of the mags, I order lots of stuff from PSA and am sort of use to it. Freaking box for the AAC ammo sucks, to be honest I am glad they wrap it in some thing ;)
I just bought several of the PSA mags to test in my Glock 48 and I'm hoping they will be reliable to use for carry. My buddy has been using gen 2 shield mags for a while with no problems. He recently got some of the gen 3 shield mags and they have been complete crap. The weld seams are not smooth on the inside of the mag, causing the follower to get stuck. Poor quality control.
Mike, that is so interesting. With my first Glock 43X, I bought the Gen 2s and had no issues with them. Then I bought a new 43X MOS and Gen 3s, and wouldn't you know it, they caused nothing but issues until I got them back from SA, then they worked fine. I did read somewhere that if you take some fine grit sandpaper to the edges of the follower and the inside of the magazine, the Gen 3s run great. Must be because of what you mentioned about the weld seams.
I've only heard a couple of complaints about the PSA mags, but they were easily fixed by the owner and made 100% reliable. I'm really hoping the PSA mags can stand the test of time and stay reliable.
I have 3 PSA slick magazines. They will run on my 43X but will not slide lock when empty. Not a huge deal in my opinion but it would have been nice if they worked just like the Glock mags.
I didn’t go with shield arms because of the need for the metal mag catch which then was not supposed to be used with the OEM mags. That’s just a pain in the ass. PSA mags work with the plastic catch, so you can switch back and forth, and so far have been 100% reliable for me. I am convinced enough with my first mag that I am carrying it. Won’t use my other one for carry until that is also tested but with 300 rounds through the first one without a hiccup, 250 target ammo, 50 rounds of defensive ammo, I am convinced its good to go. Happy Days and congratulations, after all the pain you went through with the Shield Arms mags I bet you are relieved LOL
Thank you for the kind words and recognizing the roller coaster of emotions I went through with the Shield Arms Gen 3s. Did you get the black or chrome Dagger Micros?
@@BigTimberLodge the chrome came first so that the one I have tested. The black one only came Friday so haven’t tested that yet. Probably be a couple of weeks before I get the chance.
@@davva360 keep the channel posted on how the black one runs for you. I don't think there will be any difference in performance, but I am always interested to learn if there is. Thanks for the support!
Hey Matt! I remember you mentioning these mags months ago on my other video. I am glad I finally was able to review them on my channel. Maybe in the future I can do a review of the black ones, I think my OCD would like that finish better. Hope you are well.
@mattpsa I do have a magwell on my other Glock 43X and my Sig P365-XMACRO TACOPS. That's a good idea, thanks, Matt. I will reach out if there are any issues. Seems like there won't be many based on the comments I'm reading from other people's experiences. Which is completely opposite from the other brand of magazines I reviewed a couple of months back. Your company seems to have really done a great job with this product. Congratulations!
I got one from PSA to try out. Took it apart and polished rough edges and looked for excess plastic flashing on the inside like several others have recommended. First 5 mags were flawless, on 115gr Blazer brass. Sixth loading had a stove pipe. After that i couldn't get through a mag without a stovepipe. Tried 3 different brands of range ammo, 115 and 124gr, same results. Went back to Glock factory mags, no problems. Tore the PSA down and can't find any obvious problems. Cleaned and polished, will try again. Maybe I'm just unlucky.
Im curious to see how it works long term. Idk how much i trust the 2 pieces its got going on. The shields are all one piece which i like. But ive also had 0 issues with the shield mags after multiple mags so i got lucky.
AGREED! That's why I said we need long-term exposure with real-world data before I would give an official endorsement. Had a pretty interesting comment from an engineer as to why the new S15 mags are giving people problems. The weld seams inside the mags aren't smooth in some of the magazines, making the follower have issues pushing up.
Interesting choice of packaging. A bit crude, but PSA is overloaded with demand. These are selling out literally within hours of coming back in stock. I also plan to try and get a few of these (standard black finish) at some point, even if they don't work that well I can still toss them in the range bag. But early reports on these mags seem to be promising. I think the big deal is going to be being able to use the stock magazine catch. PSA might have hit a home run with these if they stand up over time. Only problems I have heard of have been with plastic burrs on the inside of the mag I think PSA is now aware of and watching. Good video and appreciate the honest reviews. Stay safe.
I started watching this review skeptical of a new PSA product. I definitely like the plastic mag release dimple. I hate how my metal mag release chews up my OEM mags. And my OEM mag release doesn’t work with the shield mags. This fixes all that. Great review
As a viewer pointed out, the fact you can either run the Glock OEM mag or PSA mag with the same setup makes this better than the S15. Plus, they are a lot cheaper.
Not having to change the mag catch for the PSA mags seems pretty game changing. Especially for those who CCW in free & mag-restricted states, you can change from PSA mags to OEM mags without changing the catch. Interesting... hopefully they prove to be reliable.
@@BigTimberLodge Great to hear. Considering a Glock 48 for my EDC, so happy to hear the PSA mags are working out for you. Thanks for your quick response!
To be fair and honest, I carry 2 different Glock 43Xs. One of them I carry with the PSA mags and the other I carry with Shield Arms mags. With the Shield Arms mags I do have a metal mag catch. @@WarrenZevonFan
@@BigTimberLodge Thanks for your transparency. I'm leaning towards the PSA mags since you can still run the OEM mag catch. This would be convenient for my situation, as I plan to carry in mag-restricted and non mag-restricted states. If I ever visit the mag-restricted state, I can simply switch from the PSA mags to the Glock 10-rounders, without having to change the mag catch.
Thanks for the kind words. That would be amazing if that happened, but I enjoy making videos to inform the public regardless of my views. My most informative video lost me a subscriber and maybe had 270 views. Thanks once again.
I received two of the original first-run (Not Slick) mags. Ran them in 4 different 43X pistols. One MOS brand new, One 43x with Silencerco threaded barrel, One 43X MOS well broken in and a new 43X. All experienced some sort of feeding issue. The brand-new MOS and the one with the threaded barrel were the worst of the 4. We ran a multitude of different quality ammo. I like PSA products so I'm ready to try them again. Many people had no issues with the magazines when they first came out. I'll probably try the slick ones this time.
That sucks to hear. I have a video series about issues people are having with the PSA DAGGER MICRO MAGS and how to fix them. Maybe that will help. It's at 5 minute fix and seems to be helping a lot of people or just send them back to PSA for replacements.
So i shot a lot several hundred rounds with a stock glock mag using the steel mag catch. No issues, but doesn't seem like something you should do forever. I like the S15 better. haven't had issues with either, in a variety of guns but the S15 feels easier to load.
500+ rounds no issues on psa micro dagger magazines, some one off stove pipes with excess arms +5. Also loaded these full and let them sit for a few days.
Still yet to try either of these. The PSA is out of stock and when I called they said on back order for 30 to 90 days. Email when available. Haven’t tried the shield. Seem a bit steep for 42 a pop. So far the OEM 10 rounders are super easy to load. Recently purchased the Glock 43x. Can’t wait to try out the Firearm and the OEM mags soon. Bought one and came with one. May stick to the OEM cause I’m basically an all around keep it stock Glock guy. If it’s meant to be let it be is my motto. But would be nice to have more quality than less and carry less mags.
My suggestion is to check the PSA Mags everyday around 8am. So far I was lucky and caught them when they're in stock. For some reason the email notification when they're in stock never comes consistently.
I have 4 non slick mags. I've shot just under 700 rounds through them. I have had two failure to feed in the first 100 rounds on two separate mags. I'm very happy with them but I'm using the two that ran flawlessly for carry.
Awesome video man. Music was great too haha. Subscribed & thank you for being so detailed. You made tons of great points. (I will order the all black micros) haha 👍
Good luck on getting some mags. One of my viewers said to check the PSA website at 0830 Eastern Time to see if they have any available for the day. I also recommend signing up for their email and Facebook notifications. Thanks for the kind words about my video.
Probably cheaper and easier to swap out a worn mag release than to replace worn out polymer mag. I learned about mixing metal mags and polymer mag releases during the first AWB in 94. New preban glock mags were going for over 100 bucks a pop. I found some metal glock mags by Mec Gar for considerably less. They only ran reliably with fmj until they wore out the mag release after about 2 dozen reloads. Nobody back then made metal aftermarket mag releases.
The PSA mags has much better fit than Shield Arms s15 too. It has very little rattle. Feels well made. PSA mags feels like its almost perfect fit as the glock oem mags going into my g43x. S15 mags has the fit and finish like a trash Ricer Honda Civic with rattling parts all over the place.
"Robust baseplate". Haha. Yeah right. I have 3 PSA Micro 15 rounds, the black ones, and all of them have the same bulge issue at the baseplate. I use them daily as part of my main self defense EDC (the 3 of them, one on the chamber, 46 rounds in total). All of them work great at the range, but I’m starting to think about carrying just two as backup and running an OEM 10 round mag on the gun (41 rounds in total). I’m looking for a metal replacement but so far no luck.
Thanks for the review I ordered 4 mags they also came rap in plastic. My PSA magazine came with a black fished not chrome. Just wondering why your mags are different. I did follow all the videos you did on the shild arms mags. Was pretty interesting how long it took them to properly work. I have some shield mags but having extraction problems. Hoping this PSA mags workwell on my 43x. Thanks again for your educational an informative videos.
Thanks for watching my videos and supporting the channel. PSA originally sold the Dagger Micro mags with a black finish, and then released the Micro Slick finish which came with the chrome. The black finish mags are cheaper than the micro slick finish. From what I have read there is no difference between the two other than black vs chrome.
The shield arms mag with factory mag release plastic button works fine I work at a gun range on weekends and we have rental 43x with shield mag and factory release with probably over 15000 rounds through it zero issues it’s glock polymer not just plastic
@@BigTimberLodge we have been trying it as an experiment for us I actually am sporting the Canik mc9 on my hip and despite all the bad reviews I’m at 1000 rounds and only once did it not lock back on last round we all have a questionable gun we are testing for ourselves funny thing is none of us seem to have any of the issues with the p365 mc9 or 43x that folks are complaining about honestly I’m going to have to say it’s user error for 99 percent of theses issues not know how to disassemble parts messing it up forcing things together idk but we can’t make these issues people complain about happen to us
I have 2 of the PSA mags and 2 of the Pro Mags that hold 15 rounds. They both work well with one exception. My slide doesn't lock back with the PSA mags after the last round. It does lock back with the Pro Mags and the OEM Glock mags. I'm kind of leaning towards the Shield Arms mags now. I run 2 of the Gen 2 S15 mags in my 43X with zero failures. I have 4 of the Gen 3 S15 mags with far less use so far but no failures so far. I may swap out the Mag release on my G48 and see how they work with it.
I have great luck with the black finish PsA mags…I have two and I have two silver slick finish PsA mags and I’ve had to go in and sand the inside more to remove those little pieces of polymer in there because I kept having feeding issues …I have yet to return to the range to see if that makes a difference…hope it does because I like the PSA mags
That's what I would recommend to anyone watching this. However, I have a monetized TH-cam channel where I review firearms and firearm accessories. I have viewers who have already installed metal mag catches and want to know if they can use these PSA mags with them. I test things out so my viewers don't have to, and I make money doing it. If I break something during testing, it's a lot cheaper for me to replace than most of my amazing viewers. If I decide to carry these magazines, I will be switching back to the Glock factory mag catch.
Love my Glock 48s and this is a video I've waited a long time for, I am a new fan of your videos you did a great breakdown. did you try to switch the base plate of the s15 mag to the PSA mag?
I have not swapped the baseplates, but have a viewer that has. He did not like the PSA baseplate bowing and used a Dremel and some leftover SA S15 mag's baseplates to put on his PSA mags.
@@BigTimberLodge did he make a video on that? I'd like to see because I love the PSA mag looks but hate the baseplate. And I have swapped all the shield base plates with tyrant design baseplates that look sick (and costed a fortune)
The magazines featured in this video were the very first run that they made. I ended up buying some black finish magazines a couple of months ago, and they loaded much easier.
Keep the psa mags videos coming. I might be purchasing two of them soon and testing them out. They seem to be more reliable and the better buy than the s15 mags
PSA is a better buy off the jump, because you don't have to buy a metal mag catch. Which means you can still keep your Glock factory magazines in rotation with your PSA mags. Thanks for the support, I will keep making the videos, if you keep on watching.
Mine came like that…I just laughed…mags are excellent…I have 4…I have shot at least 200 rounds out of each…no issues, no changing out the mag catch…these eject /shoot out without any issues…that’s just me…mine are perfect…would I carry them and trust them…absolutely…I use them in my 43X…
Great review! I’m in the same boat with that shiny mag popping between the base plate and the grip. I’ve been looking at magwells as a solution, but I don’t want to get one that isn’t compatible with the PSA mags. If you go this route, please post a review or update. Thanks!
Just picked up the regular PSA micro dagger mag not he microslick. Not shot it yet but manually cycled them a few times and everything looks good. After about 500 rounds I'll know for sure. Excited about this.
I’ve had my PSA mini dagger mags for 8 ish months I’ve ran 1600 rounds of ball and 600 rounds of jhp through them I’ve had 0 malfunctions and trust them with my life
I bought (2) PSA mags('slick finish", silver), and went to the range and TRIED to run a couple hundred thru them(in 43x MOS), but no real success. The bullet keep getting jammed on the feed ramp. I went back to OEM mag and no issues. Now I did not bring different manf. ammo, so it could of been what I was running. So I will try a couple different brands and see if issue is still there. Also, I just bought a S15 GEN 3 mag to try out and see how it runs(have not put any rounds thru it yet).
Went back to the range(did not sandpaper the mags, just worked the spring many times and left them loaded for a week or so) and they worked great. I also bought a S15(gen 3) mag and worked the spring also and it worked great too. I only have about 200 rounds thru all (3) and will continue putting many more thru them before I use in EDC.@@BigTimberLodge
That is great to hear. I am finally rocking the PSA mags in my 43X MOS as part of my EDC setup. It took thousands of rounds without issue at the shooting range for me to trust them@@blownbird97
I got 3 chrome mags and they just came in, excited to go try mine out! Also I had the same issues load my mags and they tore up my plastic glock mag loader. Once I went out and purchased a UpLULA mags loader the rounds went in like easy, I highly recommend getting a UpLULA mag loader.
I'll note my recent findings as a lefty: The mag catch notch on these mags for left handed is a bit shallower though I notice nothing yet from it, and I've noticed mag insert issues (get's caught up.) I believe its something to do with how the mag is molded, on that side it appears there are some ridges which might be binding it up. There are scuff marks from it dragging on the mag catch when inserting/removing. Very tight. Weird tight when loading. 3rd, 4th, 5th rounds were hard, then after 12th round it was rough lol
I personally went with the shield arms mags and changed my magazine release to the steel for my Glock 43x Mos. I've ran about 500 rounds and have had no problems. 😊 Also I'm about to change my guide rod to a steel tungsten. Hopefully that will go flawlessly as my mags have been.
I'm hoping for the best, I'm going from a 17lb to an 11lb so it should also make pulling back the slide a little easier. I'll let you guys know for sure 👍
Use them for range toys but if you carry for protection DON'T use Shield Arms. They will get you killed because they malfunction every time. Stay Alive don't use SA mags for edc.
Almost all the issues I've seen and fixed on the PSA mags were due to flashing inside the mag from the overmolding process making the follower hang up. Cut that excess plastic off with a hobby knife, sand it smooth, and enjoy 100% reliability. All the problems I've fixed with shield arms mags were also fit & finish problems. Some of them need material removed to keep the mag body from pushing the slide catch up. Some of them need material removed and polished at the very front of the mag body so the lip where the brass meets the projectile doesn't catch when the round is being pushed out of the magazine. I've also seen problems when people try to use SA mags with a polymer mag catch or another brand of metal catch. Both mags can be made reliable by fixing the bad QC. You shouldn't have to, but that's the way it is currently.
If I was doing a straight comparison between a stock 43X/48 MOS and a XMACRO TACOPS, and cost wasn't a factor, I am going to choose the Sig all day every day. 10 rounds verse 17 rounds is enough to have me sold. However, I will say there is something special about all the add-ons for the Glock that you can customize it with, to really make it feel like your own custom gun. Stay tuned though, I am about to be doing a whole lot with the Sig though and trying to make it just as custom as my 43X.
Sitting on the couch and loading and unloading the magazine a dozen times works far better than loading it and letting it sit. Springs don't wear in from sitting compressed...they wear in by being compressed and uncompressed over and over.
True, but I know this is going to be hard to believe, but... there are people who buy guns just for self-defense and not because they like handling/training with them. It's hard to believe, right?
I have not. Interesting concept for a backup magazine. Keep us posted on how it works. If you get a video, maybe you can email it to me, and I can post it to my channel.
@@BigTimberLodge I haven’t had any time to really test it out, but I actually fit 21 rounds into this thing! Fitment and finish feels great so far, hopefully I’ll get some range time soon.
The same here. It looked like a drug bag when I opened the package, which was in the middle of the street because I couldn't wait and the box was not fitting in my backpack. And then I suddenly realized somebody would think I was doing something illegal. 😅😅
My only gripe with the shield arms gen 3s is that on a full 15+1 mag, pulling the slide back to pressure check is tough other than that they’ve run fine.
Leave the mags loaded for a while, and that should help break in the follower spring and relieve some of that upward pressure that is making it difficult check if the chamber is loaded. That was told to me by Shield Arms.
I have not. If the non slicks would have been in stock I would have bought those for two reasons 1. they are a black finish verse a chrome finish 2. they are cheaper. From what I can tell, the only difference is chrome finish verse black finish.
I normally let my mags set with ammo minus one. I loke the steel magazines just for being steel. But i dont like haveing to buy a steel mag release. So i ne watching to see how the psd do befoe replcing my glock mags. I wounder if the kriss vector magazine extinction would work on the stock magazine?
FYI. Mag springs arent going to "break in" by letting them sit compressed for a couple weeks. thats not how spring steel works. best to take the mag apart and squeeze it by hand a couple dozen times.
reat video, Thank you. I am in the same boat. My problem is I do not know how to swap out the mag release . If it were easy for me no problem. My hield arms 15 round mags do not work unless I am using real bullets, Snap caps do not work. I have a Glockstore extended mag release. Not the best. I am going to wait for the dust to settle before I permanetly decide
Yes, they do say that. I mentioned that in the video. I have since swapped back to the factory mag catch, and upon inspection of the two PSA mags, I see no damage
@@BigTimberLodge cool. This is a really helpful video. Before it, I was set to get the Shield S15 and pay for the metal catch. I have to wait anyway because I live in the People’s Republic of New Jersey and we have a limit of 10 round mags. But once that nonsense is turned over I’m getting the PSA mags. I have a PSA AR and absolutely love it.
I carry a spare mag just in case of any type of failure where I need to drop the mag to clear my weapon not to have the biggest imaginary gun battle where I save the world. With that said I would rather carry the OEM mag than have a fear of the aftermarket mag not working. If I was going to purchase one of these it would probably be my spare mag, to be honest yes I truly believe the more rounds the better but they need to work 100% not 99%, but if I need more than 10 rounds I’m in trouble and I should have called for backup, or I should have trained more.
@BigTimberLodge Thanks Bud, I'm from South Africa, accessories like mags, magwells ($165) and red dots are double the price you guys pay. Deliveries also take ages, so I need to be careful with what I order

Gunsmith here ….. springs get broken in by compression cycles, not just compression ……. So for magazines, load and unload the mag several times to break in new springs vs leaving them loaded for an extended period to break them in
I couldn't agree more. 👍
That's what I've always been told, A friend of mine left his duty mags loaded for years and the springs stayed fresh. No issues
could you just use like a wooden dowel to push it up and down a bunch instead of loading it?
yuuuup
Thank you
The fact the PSA Mags allows you to keep your OEM Mag Catcher so you can still use your OEM Mags without worries is huge.
Absolutely one of the best selling points for these magazines. That and the price
@@BigTimberLodge And because they hold 15 rounds?
Bought 2 of the "regular" PSA magazines.
Ran 250 rounds through each using 115, 124, and 147gr FMJ. Also 124 +p HST and 147 +p+ Underwood JHP.
Utterly PERFECT operation.
I've ran through a handful of SA mags and every one of them had some type of issue.
Just ordered 5 more from PSA.
I can't say enough about them!
Seems to be a theme I'm hearing from viewers comparing their experiences with the PSA Micro Dags and the SA S15s.
You are the BEST Bro. Very clear. Thank you. Have both 43&48. Great timely info.
I threw two of the Shield arm mags away with the metal release. Those things will get someone killed! Just ordered the PSA mag
Seems like a lot of my viewers are having better success with the PSA mags than with the SA S15s... interesting
Do you still recommend these mags ??
I have a G48. I bought 3 Shield Arms S15 gen 3 mags, mag release. Ran 200 rounds ball thru them, no issues. Ran 100 JHP thru them, no issues. Customer service answered my questions and gave me a MIL/ LEO discount. Very happy !
I run Shield Arms S15 in my G43X and PSA Dagger Micro Magazines in my G43X MOS
@@BigTimberLodgewhy not run the same on both? Is there an advantage?
Great video. I got my G43x about 3 months ago and was waiting specifically for these to get in stock because of the 50/50 issues with the sheild arms mags. Finally got 3 of them, and they did NOT disappoint. Only uncertainty , like you mentioned, is longevity. Only time will tell. Thanks
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Yup! When I was loading the final 2 magazines for this video, I noticed they were already easier to load.
Yeah, that saran wrap had me peeking out the blinds, making sure the feds weren't about to bust in my door.
Thanks. Keep us posted if you buy the PSA mags and how they run for you.
This is the video many G43X/48 MOS owners needed to see. Thank you bro. Good video.
I appreciate that!
People like you are what helps make the Big Timber Lodge a great community. Thank you for sharing this.
I purchased two of the PSA micro dagger mags (black finish), and they performed very well. I had one failure to feed, but after shooting 100 more rounds, no issues. I have to say I am impressed with the mags.
Very interesting. Keep me updated, if you have another issue
@BigTimberLodge the only issue that occurred when I was shooting federal 124gr punch hallow points. After that I didn't have any more.
Ftf in the first hundred rounds is hot "performed very well." Delusional boomers.
@@Rdctd6969 oh snap a troll baby decided to wear his big boy pants today!
PSA out beats the s15 mags. I had a terrible time running the s15 mags. Psa has been. Great and zero issues.
glad to hear all the positives on these mags, got my 43x MOS about 2 months ago and have been dying to get a 15 round mag or two but was scared to get the shield arms mags, might just have to go with these, stoked to see more!
Same I’ve had 100% with all 5 of my S15 mags
I do like that I can keep the Shield arms mag catch in and run the PSA in conjunction with the S15.
Found the Shield Arms PR Team. They show up to every review 😂😂😂. They simply don't work. Save your money, save your life. Stay away from SA mags
Just ran 350 rounds through 2 of these mags yesterday, 100 each of 115 fmj, 124 tmc, 147 fmj and 50 of 135 critical duty flexLock hollow point. Zero malfunctions and locked open after last round every time.
Just the way they should be! Awesome news. Keep us posted if anything changes.
@@BigTimberLodge up to 500 rounds now with zero malfunctions, different brands and grain bullets. Two more UPS delivery today.
Using my thumb and pressing it against my bed mattress…
Flawless…
Thanks for confirmation
Thank you so much for this video. I don't know why more Glock people are not talking about the micro dagger mags. Everyone talks about Shield and the tons of extensions. I have always wanted a mag that doesn't sacrifice my low profile carry like my Ghost Inc extensions, but I wanted 13-15 rounds. The Micro Dagger mags are perfect as I also don't want to change my mag catch.
Glad you found this video to be just whey you needed.
Keep us posted on how they work for you.
I did the same thing you did compressing the spring, I also had to use a mag loader for the last two rounds in my two PSA magazines.
Just letting the mags sit for a couple of days loaded, they have already become much easier to load. Great minds think a like
I received my magazines packaged exactly as your came. The two mags that I ordered came with the black finish. I haven't put a lot of rounds through them yet but what I have all run fine. Also they were fired with a Glock 43X.
Keep us posted
Ran 600 rounds thru mine with zero issues. So much better than Shield Arms S15’s for me.
Would you edc them though
I EDC my Shield Arms S15 mags for about 2 years straight and never unloaded them. I had spring set and wouldn't lock the slide on empty or reliably feed. Shield Arms fixed it for free.
Excellently engineered and high quality product.
PSA has quickly become one of my favorite suppliers.
Those guys really have their thinking caps on.
Semper Fi
The over mold was genius. Allowing users to keep the Pistol factory stock and get 15rnd is brilliant
Sorry you had issues. The 4 shield mags I have for both my Glock 43x have ran flawless, and I actually use one for carry. Ran over 1k thru those mags.
PSA, nailed it!
Sheild is on their 3rd generation and I still see negative reviews. I have yet to see a negative PSA review. I ordered two.

Hey there! Great video! We appreciate you sharing your experience and thoughts with the community. 🙏
Hey Matt! I remember you mentioning these mags months ago on my other video. I am glad I finally was able to review them on my channel. Maybe in the future I can do a review of the black ones, I think my OCD would like that finish better. Hope you are well.
@@BigTimberLodge Do you ever use a magwell? That would hide that sliver of stainless. If you ever have any issues please reach out.
That really sucks to hear. Two things: 1. what pistol and version do you have? When did you get your PSA mag?
@@BigTimberLodge I have a standard Glock 43x. I got the mag about 6 weeks ago.
Stay safe.
You make me think I should do a video of deconstructing one of the PSA mags
They're actually available right now, and have seemed to stay available since I ordered mine last week. Picked up two no problem.
So far, there are no issues, and I still carry the PSA mags with one of my 43X in my EDC rotation.
That sounds like a solid plan. Just make sure your CCW license has reciprocity in states other than your own. @@WarrenZevonFan
i hope this video helps your channel get more traction this is the best detailed review out there for these magazines
Try running it in a psa micro dagger lower
So i shot a lot several hundred rounds with a stock glock mag using the steel mag catch. No issues, but doesn't seem like something you should do forever. I like the S15 better. haven't had issues with either, in a variety of guns but the S15 feels easier to load.
I agree about the extended use of metal on plastic will probably lead to disaster.
500+ rounds no issues on psa micro dagger magazines, some one off stove pipes with excess arms +5. Also loaded these full and let them sit for a few days.
That's good news
I did 2 different series about the PSA mags and the Shield Arms S15 mags. In my non MOS 43X I carry Gen 2 S15 Mags and in my 43X MOS I carry PSA mags.
My suggestion is to check the PSA Mags everyday around 8am. So far I was lucky and caught them when they're in stock. For some reason the email notification when they're in stock never comes consistently.
@KalvynL good to know! Thank you for sharing, and happy New Year.
I have 4 non slick mags. I've shot just under 700 rounds through them. I have had two failure to feed in the first 100 rounds on two separate mags. I'm very happy with them but I'm using the two that ran flawlessly for carry.
I would do the same thing Brandon. Keep us posted on their performance.
Look on the inside for excess flashing. Use sandpaper to grind it down. Also load and unload the mag several times. That should fix your issues

Interesting
I just picked up the Shield's arm 15 round mag seems to run just fine in my 43 EX
Nice, I have lots of videos on those magazines too. I am really enjoying their extensions for the S15 mags.
😄
"Robust baseplate". Haha. Yeah right. I have 3 PSA Micro 15 rounds, the black ones, and all of them have the same bulge issue at the baseplate. I use them daily as part of my main self defense EDC (the 3 of them, one on the chamber, 46 rounds in total). All of them work great at the range, but I’m starting to think about carrying just two as backup and running an OEM 10 round mag on the gun (41 rounds in total). I’m looking for a metal replacement but so far no luck.
If you find one, let the channel know.
That's an interesting point for discussion that might ignite the dynamite in conversation.
@@BigTimberLodge we have been trying it as an experiment for us I actually am sporting the Canik mc9 on my hip and despite all the bad reviews I’m at 1000 rounds and only once did it not lock back on last round we all have a questionable gun we are testing for ourselves funny thing is none of us seem to have any of the issues with the p365 mc9 or 43x that folks are complaining about honestly I’m going to have to say it’s user error for 99 percent of theses issues not know how to disassemble parts messing it up forcing things together idk but we can’t make these issues people complain about happen to us
@@wesmonahan8488 interesting information. Keep the channel updated with your findings
Sounds like your follower on the PSA mags are catching the slide. I would reach out to PSA.
@@BigTimberLodge thanks for the advice. I did so and they are sending me new springs to try. I appreciate your help!
Keep us posted
I’d probably run the OEM plastic mag catch with the PSA mags so as to not chew the mags up.
Thank you for the excellent video. I am going with the PSA MAGS.
Good choice!
@@webrootask I don't think he did. Sorry
As 12-7-2/23 got. 2# psa mags. Junk ever third
Rd my day was clearing😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I’m disabled in my legs and arms. I did not have the trouble loading mine loaded very good. Great product from PSA.
Great content, brother! Are you able to put the OEM Glock 43X mag follower onto the PSA Micro Dagger mag? I really prefer the orange followers.
Never tried that or thought to. Could be a fun experiment.
So far, I feel the exact same way. Glad they are working out for you.
Great review! I’m in the same boat with that shiny mag popping between the base plate and the grip. I’ve been looking at magwells as a solution, but I don’t want to get one that isn’t compatible with the PSA mags. If you go this route, please post a review or update. Thanks!
PSA suggested a magwell to me, so I didn't see the Chrome. They did not recommend a brand of magwell, though.
Just got 3 PSA dagger mags, so excited to try them.
Awesome! Keep the channel posted on how they work
PSA design is far superior... The shield ones jiggle around and cause FTF issues. The polymer allows for a perfect fit. PSA took over
The king is dead, long live the king.
Yea bro was waiting for this 1👍🏼
Hope it did not disappoint
Just picked up the regular PSA micro dagger mag not he microslick. Not shot it yet but manually cycled them a few times and everything looks good. After about 500 rounds I'll know for sure. Excited about this.
Keep the channel posted with how they run for you.
I’ve had my PSA mini dagger mags for 8 ish months I’ve ran 1600 rounds of ball and 600 rounds of jhp through them I’ve had 0 malfunctions and trust them with my life
good to hear that
Ima get some and try em out
How well do the psa mags work in the psa micro dagger?
I would assume well. The magazines were made for the pistol.
I have 2 in the black with over 600rds with no problems. I have 2 slick that I haven't had a chance to try out yet.
Keep us posted.
What kind of holster do You use 4 Your Glock 43x???
Usually a 945 Industries holster or a Legacy Firearms holster.
If your gun runs great with the factory magazines but has issues with the aftermarket... it's not the gun. Contact PSA
It took thousands of rounds without issue at the shooting range for me to trust them@@blownbird97
makes sense. switching out the magazine catch was a much bigger pain in the neck than I expected. No way am I doing that again.
Facts. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the tip on the loader. I'll check it out.
Very interesting and insightful. Thank you for sharing.
Let me know if it gets better
Mine came packaged the same way but shipped the same day and was delivered in 2 days
Glad to know they are shipping faster.
Good on you. I run the Gen 2 S15 mags in my 43X non MOS as my EDC setup. Let us know how the guide rod works.
I'm hoping for the best,
I'm going from a 17lb to an 11lb so it should also make pulling back the slide a little easier. I'll let you guys know for sure
👍
Use them for range toys but if you carry for protection DON'T use Shield Arms. They will get you killed because they malfunction every time. Stay Alive don't use SA mags for edc.
Great vid, but Im left wondering why Glock doesn't just get with the program and make 15 rds of their own for the G43/48?
You aren't the only person that wonders that. From what I have heard from Glock is that if you want a 15rnd mag, buy a G19.
Thanks for the review! I’ve been on the fence about buying a SA 15rd mag… I’ve gotta know where’d you get the holster?! Love the kydex lol
th-cam.com/video/uAiVEft_lJU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PEax7l2YZ-B6Pspu
Legacy Firearms made the holster.
Great review on the Sig P365 X Macro TAC OPS!!! I have both pistols and love the Sig more.
BOOM!!! Finally a test!
I was really surprised that none of the magazines exploded.
Excellent point of view, I agree, and thank you!
Thank you for the support. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Have you tried the Excess Arms +5 base plate for these mags? Just ordered myself one. 20+1 in the 43x sounds awesome.
I have not. Interesting concept for a backup magazine. Keep us posted on how it works. If you get a video, maybe you can email it to me, and I can post it to my channel.
@@BigTimberLodge Yeah for sure, I’ll follow up when it arrives.
@@BigTimberLodge I haven’t had any time to really test it out, but I actually fit 21 rounds into this thing! Fitment and finish feels great so far, hopefully I’ll get some range time soon.
Not a fan of the chrome sticking out. Wonder if the shield arms magwell will work fine with the PSA mags?
That's what PSA suggested
The same here. It looked like a drug bag when I opened the package, which was in the middle of the street because I couldn't wait and the box was not fitting in my backpack. And then I suddenly realized somebody would think I was doing something illegal. 😅😅
lol
Will the Glock mags fit in the Psa micro?
Good question. I honestly don't know.
Have you tried the regular non slick ones? I'm wondering what the difference is.
I have not. If the non slicks would have been in stock I would have bought those for two reasons 1. they are a black finish verse a chrome finish 2. they are cheaper. From what I can tell, the only difference is chrome finish verse black finish.
PSA mags were on sale yesterday for $25. That was 6-3-24
Great deal
I normally let my mags set with ammo minus one. I loke the steel magazines just for being steel. But i dont like haveing to buy a steel mag release. So i ne watching to see how the psd do befoe replcing my glock mags. I wounder if the kriss vector magazine extinction would work on the stock magazine?
Hmmmm, that is an interesting thought with the vector magazine extension.
Love my psa mag 1000+ rounds through it not a single hiccup
That's what we like to hear.
FYI. Mag springs arent going to "break in" by letting them sit compressed for a couple weeks. thats not how spring steel works. best to take the mag apart and squeeze it by hand a couple dozen times.
Interesting. A magazine manufacturer reached out to the Big Timber Lodge and said, "Load the mag and let it sit to break in the spring."
reat video, Thank you.
I think that's smart. Wait a while and see how the PSA mags hold up over time.
The mag release swap is super easy. A flashlight and a pair of needle nose pliers is all you need.
From PSA website: Aftermarket metal mag catches cause excessive wear on Dagger Micro and other OEM polymer magazines.
How i got my magazines to, but since they work for me I don't care be ordering me some more.
Would the PSA dagger Mags fit in a Shield Arms premium Magwell? Or could it cause issues?
no clue, my S15 setup has a metal mag catch and I don't put the PSA mags into it. I have a Rapid Engineering magwell on my PSA Dagger Micro Glock 43X
@BigTimberLodge Thanks Bud, I'm from South Africa, accessories like mags, magwells ($165) and red dots are double the price you guys pay. Deliveries also take ages, so I need to be careful with what I order
@danielretief9228 if you got Amazon they sell the Rapid Engineering magwell for $25.
@danielretief9228 look at my last long format video.
@BigTimberLodge thank you! I'll watch that video. Unfortunately Amazon has only recently started out here, we have our own local version but it doesn't have a large variety. Thanks for all the good content! Enjoying it here from SA! Timbuuuur!😅
The 2 shield arms mags I had jammed every time I used either one and wouldn’t run any hollow points.
What Gen were they?
