Rockin' to this cassette so many times on my headphones, riding my motorcycle around San Diego in 1983-84 as a teenager. Now 55, and glad I did not "Die Young". Thank you Sabbath.
i see the meaning of Die young as, giving up on traditional or so-called normal life at a young age and living "For the Day"... because as he sings, "tomorrow never comes"
Must have heard this amazing song a thousand times but it's only just struck me how inventive its structure is: a melancholic, almost folky/medieval intro - an entry into a dream-like world - followed by a ferocious first verse, then misses out any type of chorus to glide down to a gentle middle eight, then to roar back up into a vicious second verse, a condensed version of the first one, for then to finally reach a chorus - of sorts, though you could just as easily say that it's a build up of the second verse, thereby allowing for the idea that this song doesn't actually have a chorus at all, for then to fade away with a frenzied, anguished guitar solo - the dream now fast falling into a nightmare. Spectacularly enigmatic, the form of this song is so off the beaten track.
When I first heard this song I was blown away and thought I would die young. Thirty-five years later, I'm equally blown away, but realize I probably won't die young.
its always the same feeling whenever I listen to this song! absolute passion. even if you travel all the universe, you can never find such harmony between guitars, drums, vocals and souls like in this one. Iommi is the ONE and rest are just followers.
I agree this song combines everything. I think it’s even more powerful than heaven and hell. I know I prefer listening to this over a few times not to take anything away from that masterpiece of a song

@@talleman1 - Bill did play on the Heaven and Hell tour - but his issues with drinking, his mother passing away and the fact he missed Ozzy got the better of him and he left partway through the US leg of the tour after a gig in Minnesota. Heaven & Hell and Neon knights are never forgettable songs off this album but Die young and also wishing well are my favorites over time. Ronnie's voice and Bill drums kill it.
mmmmm nah, not by a long shot. It's a really nice song, but it's not even the best on the album it's on, "Heaven and hell" That would arguably be "Heaven and hell" the title song of the album. And to be fair... Robb Flyn did this song more justice, it felt... like, it feels like it wants to be a more intimate song, and him playing it on acoustic, slower, does that perfectly.

@ f*ck, i thought it was the original line-up with Bill that played Finland that summer (Provinssirock) oh well....
Heaven & Hell and Neon knights are never forgettable songs off this album but Die young and also wishing well are my favorites over time. Ronnie's voice and Bill drums kill it.
Hell yeah Bill and Dio were so good
And Lonely Is The Word and Geezer's bass in Lady Evil is outstanding.
It's not ward on drums
@@reinis2536 yes it is Bill ward on drums
@@tysonthomson6847 no, it was vinnie apecite. Bill left sabbath in 1980.
The most special one from Black Sabbath if you ask me. True masterpiece!!!
mmmmm nah, not by a long shot.
It's a really nice song, but it's not even the best on the album it's on, "Heaven and hell"
That would arguably be "Heaven and hell" the title song of the album.
And to be fair... Robb Flyn did this song more justice, it felt... like, it feels like it wants to be a more intimate song, and him playing it on acoustic, slower, does that perfectly.
Who's listening in 2024?
Here listening every day since 1980.
But it was My idea just earlier this year 2024. Die Young by OmegaVille. What happened to my song & video?
@@whitednapeter Oh well, boo hoo.
I’m here!
Me too!
3:32 Corna(maloik sign)by Ronnie is amazing.
Although small in size, he was larger than life in music history and in terms of vocals, phenomenal. Never forget R.J.D
Dio , bruce Dickenson & john bush. Just some of my favorites
Won kacapiewo!!!
Dio and Sabbath worked so well
I,m glad that my youth fell on 70-80 years and they are consonant with this music !!!
When you look up heavy metal in the dictionary, this is the definition
This has to be the best black Sabbath album dios voice is out of this world
Dio was a legend!!!👍
He is my friend, legends never die
Is
genious
Is*
Don’t play with me
YES😍😍😍
He didn't die young but he did die a legend. RJD FOREVER!
Una de las mejores canciones de heavy metal de la historia.
El gran maestro Dio
💪💪💪💪💪💪
Perhaps one of the top 10 metal songs ever.
Larga vida al maestro Ronnie!! The Best frontman in the history of the heavey metal!
this is pure heavy metal🤟
In my opnion, Ronnie James Dio was the absolute best metal singer. RIP.
Melhor vocalista de todos os tempos
Just one of the stand out tracks on one of the best hard rock albums ever! If Tony could only have gotten along with Dio, this version of Sabbath could have been HUGE!! RIP RJD!!
Goosebumps... untouchable... unmatchable... unstoppable...
God's creature of the wild/ Always faithful to his vocation and singer-songwriter, consummate professional/ Ronnie James Dio writes and performs to evangelize, inspire and educate the listener/ Love Never Dies/
Man this song brings back memories of my 17 year old self listening to this album over and over again, and all of the people I hung out with at that time, that disappeared slowly over the years.
Iommi's guitar work in this period was on some other level.
probably the best song I've ever heard in all genres and all times of music.
not one of the best, but THE BEST
What a voice! Dio was one of the few singers (of all kinds of music) that his voice was exactly the same live or in tape/cd/dvd!
RJD Dam I miss that man RIP.
Damn I was only 5 almost 6 when he died
"Life's fantasy, to be locked away and still to think you're free"
Tony Iommi, what a criminally underrated guitarist. One of the best in rock. I’d love to have seen Dio with Sabbath but I only saw him once with Rainbow and a couple of times with his band Dio. The man was a legend. May he never be forgotten for the amazing vocals and as an incredible frontman. He could really move an audience. Rest in power, with your peers; Lemmy, Bon Scott and even Bowie. You had magic that sparked off you like electricity from a Tesla coil. You were unique and we will never see someone like you pass this way again.
You said it, bro!
This is the real Sabbath, their best Era
What a song, what an album, what a band! \m/
That slo-mo twirling of the mic stand is so excellent! Including the mic-drop!! DIO will always be the greatest singer for hard rock music ever.
The guitarwork in this song is F*CKING INSANE!!! 3:32 and onwards I literally cant help but bang my head till it hurts. Holy shit 🤘 🤘
SABBATH FOREER!!!
Gather the wind, though the wind won't help you fly at all
Your back's to the wall
Chain the sun, and it tears away (and it breaks) you as you run, you run, you run
Behind the smile, there's danger and a promise to be told
You'll never get old!
Life's fantasy to be locked away and still to think you're free
You're free, we're free
So live for today, but tomorrow never comes
Die young, die young
Can't you see the writing in the end?
Die young, gonna die young
Someone stopped the fall
Gather the wind, though the wind won't help you fly at all
Your back's to the wall
Then chain the sun, and it tears away, (and it breaks) you as you run, you run, you run
So live for today, but tomorrow never comes
Die young, young
Die young, die young
Die young, die young, young
Die young, die young, die young, die young, die young, die young
Die young!

Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules 40+ years later and they have not aged a bit .. the hallmark of a classic
Timeless music.
The greatest all-time metal singer paired with the greatest all-time metal rhythm section. What could go wrong, right?
Great song, by a great group. Tony Iommi is excellent, as usual, and the vocals are great too.
One hell of a basslne.
