My favorite Dio tale: RJD arranged for taxis for some drunk kids (some of whom were teenage girls) stranded after his concert; RJD looked out for his fans and genuinely cared about them; he wouldn't leave them out on their own - that's a kind, decent and good man. Also, that this song - his song - he declared it belongs to everyone, it's everyone's song. RIP RJD. You are truly missed.
Let me guess. You heard that from Steve Gorman rocks, eh?
Hey Bud I met Dio at random back in the late '90's at a L.A. grocery store and had a nice conversation with-even got his autograph-I mentioned this song to him btw...

@@trylius Maybe - many people have relayed so many stories of RJD's kindness and care for others I can't recall specifically where I read this. But Circus and Hit Parader back in the day printed a few stories, that my poor memory does recall! :)

Dio trips me out. He was so normal off stage. You felt like you could ask him to go have a pint at the local pub and he'd be up for it. Only met him once informally, but absolutely down to Earth guy. No sign that he was a rock star.
Living 2 personas is way to go. On stage will sell Records. Off it you watch others enjoy the music. Being humble extends an Existence
I figured he would be… I always thought he seemed cool
I remember hearing an interview with him on the radio. Seemed like just a solid, good dude. Alice Cooper, too, for what it's worth.

The shit still bangs like it did when I first heard it in my early teens.
I had the honor of meeting Mr. Dio back in the 80's and I must say that he was very nice and polite. He wasn't at all rude or snobby unlike some other rock stars who's names I won't mention. I wish he was still here with us today, as he was one of the very best.

Anyone else have to say “When there’s lightning, you know it always brings me down” whenever a thunderstorm starts? Anyone? Hello?
The 80s can only be defined by a few songs and this is one of them. There will never be an era this good 🤘
Nothing in modern rock or metal comes close to these classics. Stunning masterpieces.
There's a new band called Liliac that has a lot of potential to become to this generation what Dio and his videos meant to us. Their cover of this classic is a proper tribute, especially considering that the band members' ages were in the 11 to 20 range. Their 'Chain of Thorns' EP and videos is the best new release in at least a decade.
Just pointing out that I'm noticing some contemporary bands honoring the best of our generation, @Jimmy Durex. Yes, I suppose it could be 'my own interest' being Facebook friends and sharing Slavic ancestry with 'Mama & Papa Liliac' and the band members; but that doesn't diminish their talent that's been advancing their success pretty well since the release of the debut EP this past January and recent KISS Kruise performance concluding their first US / Canada tour. As a semi-retired semi-professional musician, I recognize new talent. (you might want to check out the Andrei Cerbu / Andreea Munteanu collaboration 'Iron Cross' from Romania also)
@@JHoliday330 you're right. Liliac cover of holy river was amazing. Their singer has an amazing voice. They're all very talented, and they're just teens. Definitely potential there

Could you imagine producing something like the "Holy Diver" album and then realize that you're expected to top it? Talk about pressure.
here is a perspective I think Ronnie no matter Elf to Dio and all in between as well as the prophets etcs he just did himself and just went with feel and the vibe within and nothing tops that so everytime he did anything it was enough. now he always made sure he hasd the musos to go with ity and if they didnt want to go or their direction changed he went with his gut everythime. and that was enough
Fuck!
Just created a monster!
Need time off says producer :-D
A timeless classic rock gem. God bless you, Ronnie!😊
God tried to bless Him but Ronnie denied Christ's Divinity and so unless He repented there are no more blessings to be bestowed upon him. He is lost forever to the pit if he died unrepentent and God condemned him.
“I think that He was a prophet. I’ve had a difficult time coming to terms with Jesus Christ as the Son of God. He was a great man for the time. He was the right Man for the right time. Let’s put it this way: I think He was a hell of a lot better than Michael Jackson. I think the Christ figure is a very interesting piece of work, whoever wrote that piece. A lot of embellishment went on inside of it, I’m sure, but the one positive thing I can say about it I can say is that all of the work of Jesus Christ, all of His words, all of His teachings - if they were his - are certainly very positive attitude, and are to be admired. Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Savior, I have no problem with that at all. But if it’s not Jesus Christ, it’s Buddha, you know? I mean, we’re talking about religion in one small faction. Catholicism and Christianity are not the only religion on this planet. There have got to a situation where by there are others who are Christ-like. We ever know, in other religions, they have similar names for people. They seem to be edging the issue, because they don’t want to put everybody off about Jesus Christ. My feelings are that the teachings were great, but in my mind, my religious beliefs are that you are God, and you are Jesus Christ, and you are the devil, and I am, and all the people I know around me are. But I don’t need to go to some place and listen to somebody else to tell me whether I’m good or bad, or whether I’m right or wrong. I am my shrine. You are your shrine. We are all Jesus Christ, and again, I have no problem with anyone thinking Jesus Christ is this deity, someone up there. It’s cool.” - Ronnie James Dio
So yea no man can bless what God has cursed and since Ronnie denied Jesus He had committed the unforgivable sin which shuts off the door to repentence. It takes a miracle from God Himself to save a person stuck in the Eternal Sin.

I feel it dancing in the light
It went cold, lost my hold
To the shadows of the night
[Chorus]
No sign of the morning coming
You've been left on your own
Like a rainbow in the dark
A rainbow in the dark
[Verse 3]
Do your demons
Do they ever let you go?
When you've tried, do they hide deep inside?
Is it someone that you know?
[Verse 4]
You're just a picture
You're an image caught in time
We're a lie, you and I
We're words without a rhyme
[Chorus]
There's no sign of the morning coming
You've been left on your own
Like a rainbow in the dark
Just a rainbow in the dark, yeah
[Guitar Solo]
[Verse 5]
When I see lightning
You know it always brings me down
Cause it's free and I see that it's me
Who's lost and never found
[Verse 6]
Feel the magic
I feel it floating in the air
But it's fear and you'll hear it calling you
Beware, look out!
[Outro]
There's no sight of the morning coming
There's no sign of the day
You've been left on your own
Like a rainbow, like a rainbow in the dark
Yeah, yeah, you're a rainbow in the dark
Just a rainbow in the dark
No sign of the morning
You're a rainbow in the dark
Woah
This is so poetic
❤

I love the bit where Jimmy Bain enters -- y'know, just walking the streets of London or wherever playing bass as one does and all of a sudden, "hey! There's Viv shredding a solo! Guess i walked down the right alley."

Your just a picture just an image caught in time👌 Miss ya Ron 🇦🇺
Oh How We miss Ronnie James Dio's massive vocals. These videos are timeless
I think the music is more timeless, the video does indeed show it's age..
Ronnie like Kevin Dubrow is one of the underrated great voices of the metal scene - an incredibly strong singing voice.
Underrated....ffs
@@jelly-baby LMAO I know right? It's difficult to believe such unabridged idiocy can be the result of anything other than bots.
Underrated? Are you insane?
A genuine classic of true metal forged in ages where steel burned and spread through the brave new world.
The solo to this song continues to blow me away today!
Legend
