- In this video I take out seats and start repairing the rusty floors. I replace the rear floor pans. I take out the seats and console and find the remnants of the build sheet confirming it's a real SS!

Since i was a kid in 1960s my dad told me to always buy the ss impala bucket seats console 327 tilt electric windows
Nice to know and prove that it is a true/real SS!

LEE...I ENJOY YOUR CONTENT...JUST KEEP UP WITH WHAT YOU DO....SO SLICE AND DICE.....LOL
Great job on using those not so great floor patch panels. You made them work! Good to go now. Smart idea on welding the bed floor holes closed up.
Thanks
Takes time and money to do it right. But it's coming along. Great video. 👍
Thanks
Doing super good with what you got. I think you are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the great work
Thanks
It's awesome you found the build sheet. I never had any doubt it was an SS but still feels good to confirm it. Those floor pans look like maybe they are for the 2 door Malibu rear floor.
description said they fit el caminos
Great job Lee, really enjoying this build👍
Thanks
Looking good! Keep plugging!
Thanks
great job on the floors, those pans were crap but you made them work.🙂👍

Glad you did what you could with those pans.its one of those make do with what you got deals.cause they don't make them like they use too anymore...peace..

She is looking better and better, good job Lee

Remember when they sent you the wrong floor pans for the Nomad? This reminded me of that.
that was my fault though
I never doubted it wasnt a true ss northern calif 🇺🇲you can tell by the ss emblems n spoiler n rims
me either but nice to now have proof
I’m gonna have to try some por 15. Nice work on the cutting and welding.
Those pans were so far off! Nice job making the best you could out of them! They look good and were low buck.
Lucky for you finding the build sheet! Got it just in time before it disintegrated! lol
Thanks
I admire your work!
Thanks
Cool! ❤❤❤
congrats on the real ss confirmation i love my conquista i put a 350 in her but i put all the 305 stuff some 305s had 4 barrels in 85 but they were computer controlled in later years
Cant wait to see this finished you are an automotive alchemist Lee!
I'm really enjoying this EL-CAMINO Build they are so cool and very iconic cars/pick ups ???
They are!
Woooooo baby Lee is on a mission with this bad dog El camino. He saw that build sheet and got his second wind. Yeah buddy keep on rocking Lee 🎸🥁🎶 looking good brother! 😉✌
Thanks
Your floors look great excellent, even with the patches!
Thanks
Ok sir looking good take your time again don't over heat yourself
Rear floor pans look great good job on the 78 SS El Camino restoration
Thanks
It’s going to be very nice when you are done. I would consider welding the back storage from underneath, but that is totally up to you whatever you feel is best.
Car is comming along good I know at the end of all the work it will look great
Thanks
awesome work lee hope you and nikky are having a great weekend
Thanks
Love your car videos keeps me interested keep up with the good work😊❤
Thanks
Lee, great work on the rust repair 👍, looks great!
Thanks
Those floor pans look like somebody cut up a wok. 😂
Great job Lee good video
Thanks
Man , I would love to have a spread like that to work on my projects. You are a lucky man!
anyone with $40k could have a place like it
Im enjoying these videos my first car is a 81 el camino and ive been working on it here and there sadly its not a ss and it has a v6 for now but i plan on putting a v8 in it soon already got the 350 to put into it but its nice to see this series and what all i should be doing to get my own just right and what and what not to do before I make a mistake
Hello Lee, she sounds so sweet.
Thanks
Well three pieces in the middle one and two and one in the middle and then put the plate on that be better for you more support
On the plastic trim my buddy used fiberglass to fix the broken bits, and put just the reson on the rest ( because it was flaking off) you will loose the texture but you could use some of that crinkle paint if it's that important to you to have a more original look. My friend was making a low rider so he liked the smooth glossy finish.
Do an experiment on one of the junk cars and see if you like it. Might make an interesting video even if it doesn't work out.
Can you use metal from one of your junk cars, like a hood piece or even floor pieces from a junk car? Those pans you bought are junk. You have proven that you are skilled enough to make your own .😊
I could have
Awesome!🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧
Floor pans looked pretty good after you did what ya did
Thanks
Dairy crop virus group or i'd use the upcolor rust fix a lot and seems to do a real good job for him
Easy one of those impact drivers that you hit with a hammer hit it with hammer and the force of hitting it jars the screw loose
With those b-pillar plastic trim pieces I wonder if you could fiberglass them back together then sand and paint
👍🏻
It's all right too say we,we know you got friends...at least the rats didn't eat half the seat off the Harley.. trust me I'm a doctor I'll make it fit...
You used the patch pans just like they were meant to be used. The repair turned out great. Looks good.
Regarding the rotted plastic interior panels in the storage area, repair them with fiberglass, swipe them with filler and repaint/dye. The repair is Similar to the way you have fixed cracked dashes.
Quit worrying about what others might think about the extent to which you are going to restore the car. If you think it’s worth it, do it and ignore the naysayers. You only have to satisfy yourself. Do it the way you want to. It’s the same way you live your life-right?
😎👍👍
I would send them junk floor pans back
The el Camino is way way rusted than I thought…
just the floors due to leaking. no salt damage to frame, etc
Hammer 2 before and take some of that that were their round car is flattered up against the side of the car after you get it cut out you could scratch it and make it work by doing that😅
You need to try that duper color rust fix it's way cheaper than poor 15 and it does the same situation a sad thing is a copper color when it dries and then you paint over it
Buying plate would saved you money and looked better. The floor looks like Childs play .
Find a wagon in the scrap yards and take the rear hatch. Then you can possibly take the lower skin off and reshape it and redo the tailgate?
a wagon would be harder to find than an el camino in a junkyard
Love your videos! Just curious what did you use for rust before por15??
nothing, put it right over rust
Please don't fiberglass the floors, weld it and in the long run it will be worth it for and a potential buyer
it'll be fine, next video
No wonder that thing rusted out like that lol
it might as well of had 6 holes in the roof
In regards to the red el camino I’m thinking that you have the same problem as me. I’ve been trying to install the driveshaft in my th350 and it’s been fighting me. I read a post that said take the tailshaft housing off and you can see what the yoke is hitting. I took the tailshaft housing off and found that the running surface id of the housing is the same or smaller than the driveshaft yoke od. I don’t have a solution to the problem yet. I’ll let you know when I do.
Got the yoke in. Just needed a good cleaning with emory cloth.
Now the ss package is just a decal package. But back in the day. It wasn't. The g bodys have stiffer springs, bigger sway bars. Heavy duty shocks. And the higher H.P. motor.
I wonder if the new floor panels are for the cubby were the spare tire goes I do that but
no, they weren't
I know it that's what people do with consoles and shit when you're paint it if you get pretty well level and you don't terribly like you did the nomad and we find that's what I would have done I do done black carpet and I would've done the material and black that hold in national shield😅
Good video but I have a question for you I've got a 1973 Chevy Nova wondering if you would have a good instrument bezel?
don't have
Okay thank you and can't wait to see the next video
How’s the door hinge bushings
replacing them soon
Next time you need floors just cut the floor out of one of the junk cars you have laying around. It's not like the ones you bought fit anyway.
didn't know they wouldn't fit until I got them
@@clunkersandclassics I'm just saying for next time. At least I hope you keep them coming. I watch every week.
This is not a ’70 El Camino with a 454 and a 4-speed. It’s a malaise era trim package. The optional engine (per your build sheet) was a 305 2-barrel, which you removed. Value is determined by mileage, condition and originality if you want top dollar. The original sales brochure lists a front air dam, matching sport mirrors, black painted grille accents, decal accent stripes, rally wheels with P205/75Rx14 steel belted radials, SS ID on doors, tailgate, and instrument panel. That’s it! You think an appearance package is worth 5k over base? No sir, not from me.
according to Hagerty a v6 base is worth $5100 in #3 good condition, an SS is worth $12,100, so looks like mine is worth $7K more. Obviously you don't know shit.
Way to Quiet 🤐😫 I do enjoy the rest 😺
Why use fiberglass on some of the rust? It’s a shame. You’re welding the floor pans anyway, why not the rest?
no new panels, too curvy, too small in there. watch next video
Sell the original 305 with the car. Give the now owner the all of the parts for the original SS to do what they please
Surly sir you new that patch panels where junk when they came out of the box order the Wright ones after you have the S S THAT IS A SAD THIN EXCUSE I THINK YOU ARE SMART SIR YOU WOULD AGREE WRONG PANELS
I could have sent them back then probably would have got wrong ones sent again so decided to save time and get er done.
@@clunkersandclassics for what you had to work with you did a HELL OF A JOB I WILL SAY THAT SIR
You talk far too incessantly about money! For floor pans, you clearly bought cheap junk.
I see way too many people building cars spending 3 times the amount I do then wonder why their car isn't worth what they put into it. My videos solve that problem.
Quit buying Chinese Crappie parts!
I was waiting for you to send the good stuff but it never came
Send him some green dollars if you are so concerned about Crappie parts.
