Fun fact: From its position and actual design concepts, the Turn A's cockpit is actually supposed to be the womb rather than the male genitals, especially considering the fact that the cockpit could be accessed from below.
So the Turn A is, surprisingly enough, not the Turn X's brother, but the Turn X's sister.
This is inherently a cursed fun fact

Yeah, I agree. I went into the series not liking the design at all. But it really grows on you over time and its become one of my favorite designs for its uniqueness.

I haven't watched the show but also disliking the design to begin with after seeing it more it's grown on me and I'm quite fond of it now!
Turn A is definitely my favorite series, has my favorite designs and I'm always hoping for new or remastered kits. just imagine a real grade Turn A or X, the level of detail in it.

13:00 the secondary bend is for Turn A to pose as if it was going up, the Turn A has a different way to maneuver and that goes to the lifting itself up to the sky.
Turn-A, both the Gundam and show, are criminally under-rated. The design is fantastic, and the "mustache" head is a fantastic reinterpretation of the classic Gundam head and V-fin. It has that marvelous retro-futuristic look Syd Mead's art was famous for, and the show feels every bit a fresh and unique take on Gundam and the mecha genre. It's up there with Gundam X as my favourite Gundam series ever.
An advice given to me by a local model kit group (from long ago) was to simply call it: Rough and Fine and identify it straight by the Grit as to avoid confusion and to help others as well. Say for example if someone ask you how you achieved this texture one should not reply "I used a fine grit sandpaper" on the comments but instead say something like "I used a 1500grit sandpaper". Here's another tip that might be useful to anyone: If the sandpaper you bought has a letter "P" in it to identify the grit it means that this sandpaper is a hardware graded one; This is much rougher than the ones with no P in it. 3M sandpapers usually are the ones that grade sandpapers with no P but they are by no means the best they are still used for hardware not hobby but this might help you identify if you want something with more finer finish but you don't have access to hobby grade sandpapers. But if it really needs to be identified as high or low, you can simply say High Grit for sandpapers 1000grit and up and Low Grit for 800grits and lower.

The MG Turn A is a beauty, complete with the old-school articulated fingers and the POM chain for its hammer.
Turn A Gundam is really awesome ! I love how the animation quality is really great; there's little "re-used" battle animations. The characters are amazing, a lot of growth etc. Yea .. just finish watching the thing. Also this Gundam is the most powerful to have ever existed - you`ll know why when you get to the end :-)
People hate on the Turn A, but it is very unique and isn't just a retread of the F91 Gundam like practically every other Gundam. It also looks really good. I wouldn't mind a different head, but it still looks really cool.
I love the Turn-A design so much, especially after watching the series. Definitely a top design for me.
Something that might help out for that head icon (or details like it) you can always pout a q-tip into some thinner and wipe off the excess that way so you don't have to worry about scuffing the plastic at all.
Turn A Gundam is my favorite Gundam series and I think it has some of the best designs for Mobile Suits and characters and has one of the best stories. So thank you for reviewing this kit.

I love the aesthetic of the bladed leg back sections. Form follows function and turn A seems to follow that principle more so than perhaps any other MS. Syd mead being an industrial designer brought that practicality to the design.
2000grit sandpaper is High Grit. As opposed to, say 80grit, being Low Grit. Less grit = more abrasive. If there was a 1grit it would be a single rough rock glued to a paper lol

I have the MG of this design. I picked it up because this is one of the most unique Gundam designs and I liked it a lot. Looks like the HG is pretty good too. Although, the MG's shoulder pads don't get blocked by the rear sections nearly as much so it can raise its arms forwards better. I should dig it out of storage and put it back on display...

Honestly to me its kind of weird looking Gundam at first but I really like the series, but when I got to hold the model in my hands I totally loved it, there is a certain charms to it that even it doesn’t look like a Gundam you know it is a Gundam.

Got the MG Turn A earlier this year and I have to say, it's a good kit, the badpart is that its hands ar starting to lose there grip on the rifles handle, but other than that it's no doubt a good kit. Also the addition of the cow wasn't bad either.

When it comes to sandpaper the higher number the finer the grit and finish the lower the number is the exact opposite

I discovered this, and a lot of other gundans, in the Warriors franchise. I love it in that games.
there is a P-Bandai version of the Turn-A from one of the Build Divers series that has a more Gundam-y design, mostly in the face. I think it’s the Turn-A Shin
High grit/Low grit: it refers to how thin the grains on a sanding paper are. The highest the number is, the amount of grains is, and the more grains there is on the same area of sanding paper, the smaller that are, and by consequence, the finer the sandpaper is. If you want to know how fine a sandpaper is without having the numbers, feel the sand paper. The softer it feels, the finer the grain is. The better grains I'd recommend is 3000.
I dig the design, syd mead also reimaged the space battleship yamato for failed 1990s ova series yamato 2520.
you should def try the mastergrade turn a if you can, I bought it after I finished the show a few months ago and its a very good master grade especially for 2007, and is a very interesting gundam build

I've been waiting on an HGCC Kapool ever since i saw this kit's box.
Bandai made the Momokapool so they have no excuse in holding out on it.

I hope when they do the RG they include those butterfly wings as effect parts as that would look sick
Knowing them, they would probably make that an "optional effect set", sell it on premium bandai and also have no quantity limit

I ordered one for myself from Gamestop not long ago. waiting for it to ship.
Certainly an an improvement over the one that I have from the 90's. Still has the fixed back shoulders, but at least these ones move slightly.
That Surfshark insert was amazing
I really want this. I used to hate the look, but after a while it just grows on you.
My only issue with this kit is that you can't really have it holding the beam rifle with the alternate handle because there's nothing to hold the handle in place

As far as I can recall, the limited posability is fairly darn accurate to the show. I need to rewatch that sometime, it's arguably the best. (It's my personal favourite at least)
