It's possible that Bandai might make an MGEX version of this since their engineering tech has gotten better lately. Before, they couldn't make an MG really possible since they would have to make the connectors to the binders and parts of the frame diecast metal since they probably wouldn't hold up well with plastic. This would kind of double the price too, possibly the price of 2 or 3 Perfect Grades at the time. An RE100 was teased before also, but because of the above reasons, it was scrapped. But now that Bandai introduced both MGEX and PGU, it's not impossible for Bandai to reconsider bringing back plans for the Kshatriya. There are ALOT of people both abroad and in Japan that really love the Kshatriya, so Bandai knows they have to do it justice if they want to please their fans.

GW's Citadel does two awesome paints for something like this, Grey Seer and Wraithbone with latter being lighter. Also to get a smooth white with Citadel either try thinning it with a bit of water or a medium like Lahmian Medium or Contrast Medium.
The trick with white is that you never start with a pure white on a dark surface. You start with a grey or off white like Citadel’s Ulthuan Grey and then build up a white coat on top of that. With more thin coats being preferable to a single thick one
I just mix black in to get progressively lighter grays, no need to buy more paints when it's not the final color. If you're doing a higher volume of models then I would get the paints to save time. Grey Seer or Celestra Gray work well as a base.
6:59 Kshatriya hands down. Even with the Alaya Vijnana system, you can't get rid of 24 funnels unless you're a newtype like Banagher Links. Plus the Kshatriya is a specifically space use suit, and the Lupus is not
Barbie also have so many exposed frame joints that's vulnerable to a beam attack. The Kshatriya would easily attack those frame joint with its funnels But the new question is. Will Kshatriya survive a 100 Dansleifs attack?
Nanolaminate armor is also not even entirely beam-proof. It's ability to resist beams wears off after sustained use, and it doesn't cover the exposed parts of the inner frame. In addition to its funnels, the Kshatriya has a bunch of mega particle cannons that can fire scattered or concentrated beams in any direction, which negates the Barbatos's speed. Also despite the fact the Kshatriya is a bulky mobile suit, the sheer amount of thrusters it has gives it a very high amount of mobility, more than enough to fight the Barbatos. Also the Kshatriya's armor is Luna Titanium which is highly resistant to physical weapons. Even if it was the Kshatriya Repaired, the mobile suit has enough equipment to deal with the Barbatos. Its modified funnels were basically psycho missles, which not even the Banshee with its NTD activated could completely avoid, and ended up having its leg destroyed. Marida even had the Banshee restrained with its NTD still active until Newtype stuff kicked in and Riddhe went berserk. The only reason the Banshee even won that fight is because Marida let it happen.

"like painting with chalk" has been my experience with every white paint I try - I'm so glad to hear someone else having the same problem. The amount of coats is to be expected, painting over black with white is an uphill battle and Citadel's layer paints are meant to be applied over a thicker base coat... But you really did a great job on those sleeves. That's work to be very proud of.
To be honest Mecha you're doing your BEST to give us what we always want to watch and that is Model Kit and Action Figure Reviews and that's what I Love about you. ❤️ 👍
Hands-down, my favorite Gunpla, even if only for shelf-presence alone. I would give away everything else on my shelf if it meant they would make a RG version.
for white i recommend Tamiya enamels. they're a little pricier than Citadel but it's better than using white scar for quick painting. That said, the white scar may not have been fully mixed so I'd recommend trying to use it again after shaking it a bit more
Kshatriya quickly became one of my absolute favourite MS when watching Unicorn, Marida was awesome too! Sort of wish Bandai either remade the HG with modern tech or made a RG variant, but this kit to me is an absolute win anyways! P.S I'd like to see the Beginning Gundam next!
17:14 about those sleeves, every mobile suit with sleeves has that problem, From something as simple as the Geara Zulu, to the unuicorn versions of ZZ mobile suits, to the Rozen Zulu, Kshatriya, and all the way to the Sinanju's golden sleeve stickers.
@@Gunpla_shrimp I'm saying it's not that big of a complaint cuz so many of them have that issue, and even then it's a minor issue cuz the detail is sculpted on every kit, so it's easy to paint of you use masking.
Congrats on the 4k and Canon R5 upgrade! Looking back at one of the first videos I've watched of yours ( RG Zeta Gundam ) it's just awesome to see the channel grow. Love your stuff man.
Get a heavy bodied acrylic. Titanium white is what you want. You'll have to thin it down quite a bit but you'll get great coverage and you'll have loads. It is usually more expensive than gw paints, buuut you get so much out of it that it'll more than save you money in the short time. Plus it actually covers what you're painting.
White Scar is a Layer paint, which in Citadel speak means that it's fairly transparent. If you want something more opaque from the *same line*, get Corax White. Otherwise, Testers has a whole line just called "Opaque," or you could get Valejo's White which I can usually get on in two coats.
With the white scar paint you used, you used a layer paint which is meant to have several coats compared to base citadel paint. Could probably look into wraith bone base citadel paint?

Your natural progression from snap builds to this is glorious. Your level of detail matches people like me. I like detailing a lot, I love building. I don’t want to do full paint jobs.
well, you can use an acryllic paint for easier usage or enamel. but believe me, if you wanna paint small parts, use acryllic, if you wanna paint a big/whole part, use enamel. cause usually enamel comes in spray, more less like pylox
I used to want a MG version of the Kshatriya but given how good RGs have become in recent years, I hope they'd consider the Kshatriya as an RG now. It should still be large and imposing but also functional given the smaller size. A MG should also be pretty amazing but I'd imagine it's gonna get very unwieldy given how massive it's gonna be. The Sazabi ver ka is already pretty rough in terms of posing out of the box from what I've read due to it's weight and the Kshatriya would just amp that up even more. So yeah... RG Kshatriya when, Bandai?
A while back I got into Gunpla which lead into Warhammer 40k thanks to you and what I learned about that Citadel range of paint is you will probably want a base color, not a layer color. Layers are meant to bleed a lot of color under them to enhance color already there or apply thickly and let pool to create gross organic rot along with washes. If you use Corax White (or other base colors) you will probably see better results as its thicker and doesn't need as many coats. But I have had a lot of luck with Citadel paints in brush and airbrush as Citadel mixes in a bit of varnish into the paints to help with durability of board game pieces. Or if Corax is a bit dark apply that first then the layer paint white to brighten the color quickly, this way you are only moving a few shades lighter than starting from a dark red from plastic also the base will act as a primer thanks to the varnish they put in. And I only know that thanks to the addiction you got me into. Curse you.
@@MechaGaikotsu Oh and that Citadel paint dries very quickly due to the varnish they put in, may have added to the chalky feel you got while painting. A wet pallet would probably help a lot for prolonging work times of the paint up to a couple days and helps to thin the paint a little which that Citadel brand does need a bit for a smoother brush coat. And making one is dirt cheap anyway so might as well to work with acrylics (water biased paints). Could also buy one but if you make one yourself from a sealing plastic container, a thick kitchen sponge without scrub pad (don't want that glue that bonds them) and some baking parchment to put paint on you get a larger reserve of water and more standby time (3+ days). You'll have unlimited materials to repair and replace and probably enough for a HG too!
And I also agree with that labeling, Citadel doesn't even put the in game points value of the troops on the boxes they sell in. Seems like it fosters a ton of knowledge in the community though, but they need to explain more about the products on the package. Confused the heck out of me at the start.
This kit has more articulation than I was expecting. TBH it's just about perfect. I can't think of a single pose off the top of my head from the show that this kit couldn't pull off flawlessly. It's a massive, bulky kit that's supposed to fly like a brick so I'm perfectly fine with this amount of articulation. Now just to try and find it at a decent price. I'd love if you'd do Epyon next too, it's my favorite suit from the Gundam Wing show and was my favorite suit overall for a long time.
@@MechaGaikotsu It's one of the reason I like this suit so much. The suit was essentially just a bus for the funnels so it didn't really need to move it's limbs much. Just about every scene is just the beastly binders brute forcing the suit from point A to point B, releasing the funnels and letting them go ham. I love the idea of a suit mostly fighting with funnels and this one is my prime example.
It looks more like a gelgoog than a zaku, but thats not a bad thing either. Anyway awesome review and nice finish on the sleeves! Also that matte finish really added a lot of character! Great build. :)
Congrats for the 4K upgrade. Im loving the new credits sequence. I've been trying to get one of this kits since two years ago...but fffffuck....its freakin hard. Looks awesome for a 2009 kit.
Wish they would produce a swoll Zaku. I'm sure there is a 'super zaku' somewhere in the decades of mecha out there, but I basically want a Zaku with the soul of a Dom.
Been waiting for an MG to be released, HG went on sale, so figured it was time to add this to my shelve. The design to Kshatriya is so legit though. One of my all time favorites, so unique. Really like the white you added. I need to do the same. I almost wish they would just do an RG of this kit. Have that added detail and less shelf space taken up.
Something you missed on the arm articulation. The arms can actually bend in and out a bit at the bicep rotation due to how the polycap connects. Its not much but its there! It adds that extra little bit of inward movement
It's amazing that you've finally been able to upgrade equipment to upload in 4K. Looks really good! It's surprising that Bandai still hasn't done an HG for NZ-666 Kshatriya Besserung, but at least Bandai made an HG for NZ-666 Kshatriya & NZ-666 Kshatriya Repaired. 3:27 As for a white paint, apparently the 'EX' version of the white Gundam Marker is apparently very good. I've never tried it myself though. 6:307:067:22 I think it would be interesting if Bandai made an RG for: NZ-666 Kshatriya NZ-666 Kshatriya Besserung NZ-666 Kshatriya Repaired ...of course the 'Besserung' and 'Repaired' variants being P-Bandai. Bandai has releases these bigger sized mobile suits as RGs so I think maybe now it might be more likely to eventually get them. Besides an RG release, I'd say the REBORN 100 release would be most likely instead of an MG. 17:55 I'd like to see MG OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon (EW) next if you don't mind.
this is gonna be my first gunpla, i know next to nothing about anything gundam and really i like this one cause it looks like the emerald weapon. but hopefully this is the start of a new addiction
Same level of effort I put into most of my kits although I have done a couple of fully painted builds. The most recent being the MG Kampfer. This one looks fantastic .............................
Fun fact about white paint and why it's so chalky, the paint pigment particles are massive, like 50x the size of black. That's just the nature of white paint. If you want to paint white try for a very light gray, I recommend Army Painter or Vallejo, they have a fantastic color range. But yeah, avoid pure white unless you have a gray undercoat.
White Scar (the Citadel paint) is a LAYER paint. Meaning, it is only NATURAL that it took you multiple coats, to make the matters worse, it is WHITE. Citadel Layer paints are meant to be painted ON TOP of a Citadel Base paint however there are cases where layer paints can be painted directly, depending on the color of the layer paint and the canvas (in this case, plastic model)... If you want a thicker paint than White Scar then CORAX WHITE base paint is the answer or any other brand that you prefer that's classified as a base paint... Other than that, awesome review :)
>Painting white right onto black Yeah, that's just how it is, try a medium or light-gray primer. Stynylrez by Badger is brushable and water-based so it won't need anything extra, if it's available over there.
10:10 I find that sanded or not green beam effect parts react strongly to blue light. Had an old crt tv and it lit those suckers up like Xmas lights. Also congrats on 4k
I heard pro acryl bold titanium white is pretty good. Haven’t tried it myself. Also, you should’ve put a base coat under that. It is a layer paint, thus is a bit transparent. It’s why it took so many coats. Citadels Corax White would do well, though it can be a bit of a pain to mix. I usually thin it on a wet palette. Might have to buy some of the bold titanium myself.

dang, cant wait for the mecha gaikotsu ibo custom :>
Those sleeves are so clean!
ITS MECHAGAIKOTSU IN 4K!!
the matte coat really makes this kit looks better
It looks more like a gelgoog than a zaku, but thats not a bad thing either.
Anyway awesome review and nice finish on the sleeves! Also that matte finish really added a lot of character! Great build. :)
Btw for those who are wondering the blue gundam that he used in the size comparison is cslled "todesritter" its german for death knight
Just found this kit at a hobby shop on a road trip. It's along for the ride now
YES!
thank you Mecha for this review, and giving this Bad Girl the attention she Deserves
Agree. At first I underestimated because it HG. But then, Full of joy build and paint it.
Congrats for the 4K upgrade. Im loving the new credits sequence. I've been trying to get one of this kits since two years ago...but fffffuck....its freakin hard. Looks awesome for a 2009 kit.
At long last i been waiting so long to reviewing this kit! But i can't wait Gaikotzu gonna review HGUC Todesritter.
The matte finish kinda give it a premium vibe.
gundam epyon breakdown is the video I need
Wish they would produce a swoll Zaku. I'm sure there is a 'super zaku' somewhere in the decades of mecha out there, but I basically want a Zaku with the soul of a Dom.
Been waiting for an MG to be released, HG went on sale, so figured it was time to add this to my shelve. The design to Kshatriya is so legit though. One of my all time favorites, so unique. Really like the white you added. I need to do the same.
I almost wish they would just do an RG of this kit. Have that added detail and less shelf space taken up.
I like the intro, and the Mobile suit because the funnels in each flappy flappy wing
My ONLY problem with this kit is the shoulder joint
It's so weird. Why is the joint not in the actual shoulder, but in the binder arm
Old tech limitation I suppoes
Something you missed on the arm articulation. The arms can actually bend in and out a bit at the bicep rotation due to how the polycap connects. Its not much but its there! It adds that extra little bit of inward movement
Whew. this channel has been not uploading for so many years. glad that he properly built the Kshatriya for his first kit review!
When can you build and review the HG Qubeley revive???
thank you for doing this i doubt it was from my request but still great to see i haven't built mine yet but again thank you for doing this.
After all, it's cool and I highly recommend it😆😆😆
Awesome review. I would love to see Epyon next.
Tjis is my favourite MS. While the RX-0 are my favourite gundams, Kshatrya is the most beautiful MS in all of Gundam
You made me think Kshatriya a Broly when you mention Goku Barbi Lupus. lol
Love that you put in the effort on this kit. Would really like to see more kits get that treatment.
6:30 7:06 7:22 I think it would be interesting if Bandai made an RG for:
NZ-666 Kshatriya
NZ-666 Kshatriya Besserung
NZ-666 Kshatriya Repaired
...of course the 'Besserung' and 'Repaired' variants being P-Bandai.
Mecha is starting to paint more of his kits & it’s scaring me 👀
I think spooky has something to do with this 🤔
Hey Mecha, in my experience the Citadel Celestra Grey works as a better white without requiring near infinte coats of white scar!
I'd love to see an RG rendition of this kit, it deserves it.
this is gonna be my first gunpla, i know next to nothing about anything gundam and really i like this one cause it looks like the emerald weapon. but hopefully this is the start of a new addiction
Love it!!! More painted reviews, please. It adds more production values & personality to your videos 👍.
I would like to see that Nobel Review
And I guess I should put Khsatriya in my wish list
First time I've seen my name pop up in one of these, ayy xD
I've been waiting for this review, Thanks mecha
8:39 the most important comparison😌
>Painting white right onto black
Yeah, that's just how it is, try a medium or light-gray primer. Stynylrez by Badger is brushable and water-based so it won't need anything extra, if it's available over there.
One of my first builds and still one of the best ones for me. Planning to do another one.
10:10 I find that sanded or not green beam effect parts react strongly to blue light. Had an old crt tv and it lit those suckers up like Xmas lights. Also congrats on 4k
Gaikotsu got 4k! Even better for us people that want to experience the gundam, even if we don't have the budget 🥲
I vote for Guncannon next. Give that old boy some love!
Also with 4K, a tip video on panel lining and painting specifically would be great.
Damn, I really hope they eventually make an MG of this. I'd love to see you do an Epyon video.
I still have this kit closed in my shelf. Would be my first Gundam to build.....
I also have the Kshatriya made out of Lego parts. Also a neat model
i glad you give gold rank for my fav gunpla , Kshatriya 😍😉👍
I'm currently working on this model for a contest. My first foray into heavy paneling and customizing
