Another great video interview around Lake Tahoe and flying. If anyone has the chance to get to Lake Tahoe take it, either flying in float planes or skiing you’ll never forget your experience. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful 22 mile long lake with crystal blue waters that are fed from the melting snow off the local peaks. That water is cold in the summer time and you can see the fish in the water 60 feet down. It’s an amazing place to visit and for the people who live there it’s an amazing way of life.
Thanks for sharing this with us... this was a bit of a trip down memory lane for me, because Dad a PA 18 on 2000 Edo floats in the 60s ans early 70s so I have time in both the front and back seat.
@@ExperimentalAircraftChannel sadly no family and life got in the way, I still enjoy aviation so that's a good thing. Did you happen to watch the video Mike and Mark Patey did asking for ideas of how to attract people into aviation? One of the things that help people to get into aviation is an airplane, I look at the cost of most kits and they are way out of my budget. So for the last 10 odd years I been playing with a low-cost aircraft design that is budget friendly. With the growing popularity of STOL competitions and back country flying... this is the area my design is aimed. I like off airport flying that's why Dad's Cub was great... I wish I could tap into the knowledge he had from flying 65 odd years. The man learned to fly in Alaska in the late 1930s and was a bush pilot up there before I came around. Anyway my plan is to start doing videos of the design and engineering that will be going into the design and the compromises that are made to make the design work. Then comes the building, maybe you will want to fallow along because it will be interesting. My hang-up right now is lack of knowledge on video editing. So anything I do will just be downloaded off my phone.
I saw a solo pilot pull up to camp rich a few years back in a similar plane. Didn’t even get his feet wet hopping onto the sand after beaching the plane right in front of the restaurant. Very cool.
I was wondering if the new Cubs are soloed from the back seat like the originals. I remember riding in the back seat of a J-3 and they asked the pilot if he was going to make me ride in the front seat. I had a lot of fun at that time and many more times in the old J-3. I even rode in a J-4, it was side-by-side like a Taylorcraft.
Do the slats provide any benefit taking off of landing on the water? Seems like the steep AOA would did the heels of the floatsin negating any benefits.
This question has been asked quite a bit actually. I do know that this aircraft spent some time as a "bush plane" with the big tires and everything before it was put on floats. I have heard that slats do provide more performance at any speed...but I tend to agree with you that for the most part they are most effective at steep AOA. Thank You for watching today and stopping by to leave a comment!
Did you by any chance while on your flight, fly by the northern part of Lake Tahoe? I ask cause while I was there sitting in my hotel and all of a sudden me and my family hear a plane fly by(which has never happened to us) anyways then I got the video recommended by yt the next day thought it could maybe be you

Great video, as always. Just did my seaplane add-on checkride yesterday! It's an awesome amount of fun. Highly recommended.

Awesome video, Brian! Thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to say hello. Have you been in a Seaplane before? Are you flying?
Not a sea plane.

Beautiful aircraft.
Thank you for watching and engaging here today!
Thanks for the video and ride.👍🇺🇸
You are very welcome. Are you currently flying?
Grew up in Tahoe...LOVE the vid!
Very nice, thanks!

Sweet! Thanks for sharing that! I appreciate you taking the time to watch here today.
Loved the NASCAR-type noose just off the training aircraft’s right wing tip.
Thank you for taking the time to watch today. Cool aircraft rigiht? Have you ever flown in a Seaplane?
Experimental Aircraft Channel . No, I have not. Two reasons: #1 I do not know how to swim; #2 See #1. I am a licensed private...LAND...pilot tho. :)

tawhoe? tawtfe?
Sorry, can’t do the music
Audio must have been bad, because that motor would have been music to my ears.
OK. That is a tough one. Everyone has a passion for one genre or another. Catch me in the next one?? :-)
