Yes it is my favorite airplane, I have wanted one for 40 years. A Cub is one of the legendary airplane I believe that if you are flying, at one point you wanted one also. This looks like an old video. But I've been on a factory tour a month ago and the company is still running. However, I was told they now have 40% business new aircraft production and 60% restoration of existing aircraft.
Checklist failure. The flying video shows him taking off from the lake with the water rudders down. He should have added a teaching graphic to disclose the error. The floatplane school and rental FBO I attended in Minnesota fined pilots who were observed taking off and/or landing with the water rudders down.
I train float pilots, I do not recommend lifting the water rudders until safely airborne. You use them to face into the wind, and they give you MORE control, keeping the craft straight. The same is true on landing on water. Yes I would fine someone too for landing on land with the water rudders down.
@@ultralightnews I started at the FBO on a Minnesota lake in the 1960s and the planes there were from that era and earlier, some from back to the 1940s, so maybe more modern floats are better designed and stronger to allow takeoff and landings with the water rudders down.
