While they were cool movements on 0:17 and 0:27 they were unnecessary from a filmmaking standpoint. Felt out of place. I watched the video again imagining the video without it and it was much better. I’ve made mistakes like that before and I find it to be one of the hardest parts of solo filmmaking. The issue is without a dedicated camera or lighting crew you can tend to overcompensate by getting fancy at times.

I’d love to know how much time you spend on planning the shots and what level of detail you get into before you even think about shooting? Do you commit it all to paper, or does it just sit in your head? Thank you for any help - Graeme.
Hi Graeme. Thanks for watching and thank you for your kind words! For this short specifically, I actually put this together on the fly. However, on a typical short film- I’ll spend a good amount of time workshopping the idea. Then I write the script. Once the script is finished, I’ll draw up a very basic storyboard of some doodles (I’m not the best free hand artist haha..) or if not a storyboard, I’ll have a shot list. I hope that was helpful :)

Hi Courtney, I used my Ronin-Sc and set different camera points that were timed to move and stay at each point for certain amounts of time
How do you make the Camera drive when you solo without any camera man ? ( In the first Shot )
Do you mean the slow push in? or the camera turning? or both
Yeah , but i have thinking about this clip and i think that you have do it in Davinci Resolve , Premiere or other

@@MyfyyXx if you're talking about the slow push in of the camera, you can do that in any editing software but adjusting the scale of the clip to slowly increase.

Hi Nate! :) Great job on the film! 😀 Have you considered editing this film down to a 1 minute movie trailer with the ending shot of the caller saying something really creepy like this "Now it's my turn to play a game" and have the lights suddenly switch off to end the trailer instead of the comical ending you have here. I think all your shots are great but could be trimmed to make the transitions much quicker. Perhaps also including a shot of the Web cam red light activating without your knowledge as you're focused on playing the game. With some suspenseful thriller movie color grading and background sound/music, I think it could get you a LOT of views and really showcase your skills! 🙂 Especially considering you've already done 99% of the work. What do you think?
