Cheers too you both, sipping along, but with a Balvenie week of Peat, that was my pick from the bar 😉Good luck finding your Benromach, I personally would miss out on the Cara Gold 2010, it was too subtle for me ( I mean soft palate & less funk, but an easy sipper) & double down on the Peat smoke Sherry if it came too a bidding battle (£55-£60) RRP. Hope too see a review one day. P.s my fav all time was vintage 2009 CS Batch 4 they might turn up & where good value & proof 57.2% (released 2020)

I ended up winning both the Cara Gold and Peat Smoke Contrasts...so they'll go on the shelf into rotation. And now we'll keep an eye out for CS Batch #4...I need to win the lottery at this rate. Cheers!

Cheers to another nice show. While I don't have any Balvenie, I am sipping on Compass Box Orchard House. So many good whiskies, so little time.

That Orchard House is excellent, excellent (in our opinion). Cheers!

One of the best value malts out there!

Outstanding as always guys! The Balvenie Double Oak is what got me into Scotch whiskey. Their 21 year old is my favorite Scotch period. I was disappointed they discontinued the 17 year old as it was outstanding. I was just looking at their 12 Year Sweet Toast of American Oak and will probably buy a bottle. Because like you, I've never had a dram of Balvenie I didn't like & enjoy. Thank you and keep up the great work.

Can't argue with your points...We love the 21 and 17 (always buy it when we see it on the shelf, especially at the $150-$170 price point). Cheers mate!

Balvenie has always seemed OBSCENELY overpriced for what it produces, other than the basic bottles like the Double Wood.
They are outpricing and outpacing themselves out of the rapidly evolving whisky ecosystem.
I'd happily accept a dram of Balvenie if someone offers it at a party, otherwise, no thank you!

We have no choice but to agree with you on the pricing...I've watched the 21portwood go from $120 to $350...it's great dram, but $350?? and I could go on about some of the other price spikes....that said, the liquid is generally good. Cheers! (it's these older houses of whisky that will be and are threatened by the likes of Edradour, Glendronach, Spey, etc.)

@@TBWD I'd agree that I've never had a bad Balvenie, but the price is insane... I would LOVE a 21 portwood for 120 euros... Edradour is my favorite distillery so comparing it to that is unfair from my perspective :P.

Ha! not so much a juice compare, but rather showing quality Whisky at a more affordable price point will be and is becoming challenging for Balvenie, Macallan, Glenfiddich, etc@@TheSurgeHunter

So much truth to this. I used to really enjoy the 14yo Caribbean Cask at ~$70 (sometimes even on sale at $65) it was a fantastic dram. Its not that great of a $100 dram.
