ISTHMUS PEAK TRACK in WANAKA!

The number of cars we saw at the trailhead of Roy's Peak in Wanaka was absolutely insane, so we opted for a less busy track and hiked up to the top of Isthmus Peak for a beautiful sunset.

Great cinematography my dude. Whats the fitness level required to be able to walk this trail? My fiance and I are planning to do a day hike in Wanaka during mid August.

I'd say moderate fitness level in order to enjoy it, but honestly you can always just take your time, no rush to get to the top! The view is worth all the effort :)

Really nice mate. I didn't know about Istmus Peak. I managed to do Roys but my method to avoid the crowds was to go for sunrise haha. Even still a fair amount of people but still an awesome experience.

Thanks dude! We thought about doing the same until we heard about Isthmus. If you're ever back, I highly recommend a longer hike called skyline track, and it goes to mount alpha (above roys peak) its gorgeous!
