- Roys peak is one of the most famous hike around Wanaka in South Island New Zealand. The trail is graded as medium to hard and offers a consistent uphill walk.
We attempted to climb this INSTAGRAM worthy mountain during winter where we encountered changing conditions and terrain.

@heyjaydreamerr just have fun and enjoy the breathtaking view. We visited month of July last year. Have yous booked the campervan yet? Its much cheaper during winter. Bring some heat tech clothing will help to keep you warm.

What a spectacular view!! You only hike until the lookout, am I right? How about the peak? Are you wearing crampons, or just a hiking shoes? I am planning to go there June next year. Can’t wait!!
Hi there! Thanks for watching. No at lookout because it’s already a bit too late to go further up but the view is spectacular nonetheless. Just normal hiking shoes, definitely doable but would be easier with crampons especially when it’s wet/icy. You’ll definitely enjoy this hike ✌🏼
