I didn’t see where it said “built” but the factory also “built” the transmission at one point and that doesn’t mean anything in this context. I did see where it listed the transmission as “stock” at 3:09 though. Typo or misleading IDK but I’d love to have it cleared up, might even give them money for help with mine if they did. I even sent them a message about it and haven’t heard anything.
@@1PotatoeMasher1 get a stock dsg s4 and blow it up into many pieces..get another stock one and then get the ecu mapped for the dsg and watch it not blowup...its like an ecu on the engine.keep the whole engine the same..no different.but its tuned up and produces more power..so its not stock in a sense..the internals are but the way it works isnt...stock internals yes but a mapped ecu..if you change something you cant call it stock
@@mattyburrows9059 The way you blow up a DSG is not enough torque cut. A lot of cheap tunes just mess with the scaling, which will make the torque cut ineffective. It slips, doesn't sync for a long time, so doesn't apply full clutch pressure, causing more slip, gets super hot etc etc.
Keep at it... you will get to the 7's and when you do the car must be placed in the VW museum next to the Dahlbach Racing Golf as legends that has set records.
I’m a hardline manual transmission guy, but even I have to respect the DSG in that car, with that amount of power and torque on tap, a conventional manual would be far more difficult to use, and even dangerous, when you see the amount of torque steer he’s dealing with I have a ‘12 Golf TDI with DSG, I only bought it because it was inexpensive and I needed a car to replace a totaled vehicle, I’m still not completely satisfied with the DSG, as it seems “wrong” to this longtime manual fan, but this video is making me appreciate it a little more, it’s got my grudging respect now...
The VW DSG is a triumph of mechanical engineering. It is genius and should appeal to manual gearbox fans since it is essentially two manual boxes merged into one.
It’s kinda’ funny, I have a heavily upgraded Mk2 Golf in Forza 4, similar upgrades, AWD swap, engine swap and full upgrades and with a manual, it’s nearly undrivable, I have to de-tune it to get it even slightly controllable, it simply puts out too much power for the chassis to handle.
I personally have opened up a VW DSG transmission that my school got from my work placement (It was a transmission that broke). They are quite well build if I have to say so myself.

You know what I would love. A car that looks compleatly stock. You could have a switch that closes flaps in the exhaust so it sounds semi normal, then you rock up to a drag strip and destroy everything.
It doesn't have a VW engine. Original is only engine block and crankshaft maybe. Aftermarket parts are: cylinder head, valves, valve springs, rocker arms tappets, pulleys, camshafts, pistons, rings, bearings, pumps, cooling system, fuel injection system, ignition system, turbo, and so on. Also, whole suspension and brakes. Only things VW made are body and gearbox. You dont get 1000hp just slapping a turbo on a car.

some good advice lengthen 5th (or 4th) so that it doesnt shift up just before the line, most modern ecus will let you increase rpm limit by gear which works too
It think 8300 rpm is a bit beyond the normal 7200 limiter, coupled with 45+ psi of boost you wont make very much beyond 8100, just heat and increased valve float

There’s a few upgrades on the box for sure, but the wet clutches vw made can handle a pretty good amount of abuse.

MrQmie than they’re putting a ridiculous amount of wear on it. I think it can only handle ~400 ft/lb of torque.
@@s7robe297my clutches started to slip with a gtx28r. I doubt it still has the stock clutch pack. Maybe for a few passes, but definitely upgraded at this point.

@@psy06 Its not stock, i ve seen a few months ago Boba replying to a fan and saying the DSG was modified by them.
@@ferfire9 Boba claimed from first day that the mechanic of the DSG is stock... not stock is the electronic controll of the DSG and the company who developt it with Boba do not sell it...that what I have read about it in a comment by Boba
