What a beauty, gotta love the old Husky’s from the 70’s & 80’s…the 250’s, 360s, 400’s & the 500’s were all powerful earth movers I tell ya, strong two-stroke machines!
You are a class act Christopher, love your channel. And this is one of the most aesthetically beautiful bikes ever made. I raced Husky 250s, and 390s and cherish every moment on them. Smooth motors, solid chassis with good suspension for the time, but no brakes. Reliable and their win record speaks for itself. Painful to see what has happened to the proud Husqvarna/ Husaberg legacy.
Hi Glenn thanks for your kind comments and your analysis of the big bore Husky is spot on, . almost everything on these big CR’s worked superbly although as you say stopping them wasn’t easy when they were flying but the braking technology on these bikes were of the time so we had to make do with what we had. This bike was actually supposed to feature in the Australian publication VMX Magazine which I used to write for back in the day although after initially saying they would use it they backed down and pulled out as they said they had to many Husky features in their files, so that was a bit of a shame as it would’ve been nice to see it in the glossy magazines. Anyhow thanks again for your time to watch my content and I hope you find further postings on my channel to your liking.
Just beautiful bike. I raced a '83 500 xc in the desert for a few years. Great power. 6 sp wide ratio gave it 100 +mph top end. Not nearly enough brakes. Very stable but didn't like tight corners.Great suspension. So much vibration my arms were still numb in the truck on the ride home. Bullet proof reliable . I loved that one.
I really love this. My brother bought one.. ordered one. The dealer hadn’t gotten one yet. It came in and we loaded up to go pick it up. They said they hadn’t started it.. I believe them. Still crated.
Well that was a lot of info on a bike that I just happened to aquire. Of all places to find one (even though I didn't know anything about it) it was laying on its side on top of a roll of old chain link fencing at a local scrapyard. Almost complete except for the front plastic on the handlebar fork area. Unbelievable that someone would toss it aside.
There were only 500 made , 50 went to the USA , 2 of them were sold at a small shop in Fredericksburg VA ( I got one of them ) . I hate my self for selling it back in 1987 . If we just knew what we know now.
HUSKY HAD BUILT A ......IF I REMEMBER A 502 TWO WHERE MANUFACTURED.... MY BUDDIES OLDER BROTHER WAS PARTNERS WITH STEVE MCQUEEN.. I WAS BLOWN AWAY TO SEE....IT IN THE CRATE....OVER AGAINST THE WALL AT SOLSR PLASTICS..... THEY HAD BEEN LOANED ONE TO RUN THE BAJA 1000......THE BIKE HAD AN OVER 100..105 MPH ....
