@@sjsmith801 Thanks for watching and the kind comments. Can’t tell you how happy I still am that I made this move. During mowing season I rarely have to pull the starter cord more than once and rarely have to even choke it.
Thanks so much for this excellent video. You helped me immensely. I have the 3.8HP Craftsman edger and it was leaking gas horribly. I was going to rebuild the carb but decided to just replace it as you did here. HUGE help! Thanks again.
Several years ago, I did the same upgrade on my 1989 Mastercut edger, with this Tec H30 engine and that diaphragm carb. What an improvement! Mine needs the choke to start most of the time, but that's OK. I have had a full range of engine speed, so I have probably never messed with the adjustment screw on the throttle control lever. I appreciated your closer look into how this affects things. Overall, it's nice when a modestly-priced upgrade like this improves the machine so much.
Thanks for viewing Tom. I totally agree. Getting rid of the diaphragm type was a lifesaver for this older edger. I just broke it out for service this year and once again, barely had to choke it to get it started after sitting idle all winter long. Dean
I watched your other video and I think the reason it leaked is because you didn't put in a new needle seat and fuel was leaking by the needle all the time. If you watch the video you can see that the needle was metal to metal and had no way of stopping the fuel from entering the carb.
Another great video Dean! Many times through the years I've used those nuts with the star type locking washer. While they work, I hate the way they dig in the mating surface. For quite a few years now I've steered away from mechanical lock washers substituting them with the appropriate LocTite thread locker. This type of thread locker not only keeps the nut from loosening but also seal the threads keeping out corrosion and rust. My tip for the day!
Yep replaced diaphragm parts and leaked immediately. Going to try his alternate carb route. Thanks for going over the various screws and jets!
Sure thing. Hope it helps. Still working like a charm on mine.
Great job 👏
Thank you
Great video, I just ordered a similar carb for my craftsman edger with tecumseh engine. appreciate the explanaton of the carb adjustments.

excellent tutorial,

HEYYYY!! I know you!!
@@WillLockwoodStudios You do? How do we know each other?
@@PilotViewProductions no sorry 😂 I was talking to Inside House Garage. We know each other
Hey great video. Put one on my edger, only problem is gas is leaking from the air intake thru the air filter. Any advise?
@@ronniehanson-qm4co I’m no expert but I would think a carburetor issue still, like hopefully a gasket or a clogged jet.
@@PilotViewProductions So you think I should return the new carburetor for replacement?
@@ronniehanson-qm4co To rule out the carburetor, yes if you can.
Awesome thanks, i have the exact same problem. Ordered carb, looking forward to getting this baby working again
Thanks for watching. Mine still works great!

Went on Amazon
Installed it, fired first pull 🎉
Thankyou
Wow that’s fantastic
Awesome video. I have this exact edger that I'd like to bring back to life after many years in storage. This is super helpful!
Thanks for viewing and good luck. Dean
The edger works like a champ now with the new carb. All of your advice was spot-on. Thanks!

Probably so. Still I’ve never been sorry I replaced it as this one has performed flawlessly and so much easier to crank than the diaphragm style. Dean
