Thanks for watching Things To Know Before Getting a Dog So You Avoid The Puppy Blues! In the comments below tell me what breed you’re thinking of getting and do you have everything set up ahead of time?
My familty and I got a Female chocolate labrador October 26th, She was born 21st of August and she will be 14 weeks old tmr! We were researching about dogs and puppies since..... Basically the end of last year and the beginning of this year until August, which we found a good breeder that is responsible and has adorable and healthy doggies!! We are teaching her to walk on a leash but its hard since she is starting to get bitty and chewwwyyy, do you have a video on leash trianing a puppy and wear to start, also if I should consider buying a harness bc I noticed she pulls a lot, and i saw some harnesses to help with the pulling? I would love a video on how to leash train for a puppy. LOVE UR VIDEOS SOOO MUCH!!!
There's one thing I really need to learn and that is how to get the puppy to walk on the lead for the first few times because you know puppies can be very stubborn to walk for the first few walks. I'm going to try to get the puppy used to the lead in my back garden at first then try again outside and hope that getting the puppy used to walking on the lead in the garden might make it a bit easier outside for the first time.
We’re picking up our puppy in two weeks and I’m scared and excited :,D It’s my first dog ever. We have just two cats. Now I’m watching your videos to calm myself down and to learn what to do with the puppy and how to train it👍🏻😂
Oh how true this is😃! My malinois is 15 weeks old. We are doing well now. Have a schedule, doing my best to keep it. I have been watching Michelle's videos for about 5 months. Started before our pup arrived and continue to watch them over and over. We are in a puppy class as well. I am learning to train my pup.
I adopted a 5 month old exactly a week ago and my anxiety has been horrible! Im regretting this so bad! Which I hear is normal and makes me feel so bad. My kids are so happy with her but I wish I would’ve watched this before to make me think about it a bit more. I’ve never owned a dog in my life! I really hope this feeling goes away and gets easier.
I got a cockapoo about 3 years ago and only kept it for one week. Yes, picked up on Sunday and sold to another family the next Sunday. I couldn’t get sleep, couldn’t go anywhere and was actually worn out! Well, now that my husband has passed from Alzheimer’s and I’m alone, I’m ready to try again. Michelle these videos make me have confidence that I can do it this time. I’m aware how much work it is so I’m not coming in with expectations of just having fun with a little cutie. I will follow your advice and I think it will be much easier this time around. Thanks so much, love your videos. When I get my puppy I’ll keep you posted about the training.
Hey there, I’m really sorry for your loss❤ I had the same experience with a puppy, got one, was so overwhelmed felt depressed and had no time for school or anything, rehomed to another family in a few days. She’s doing great now, but moving on from doing that, made me feel as though I want to try again. So thank you for this comment. Truly helpful!
Love your channel! We're getting a Goldendoodle. Boston will be joining our family right after Christmas. Watching lots of training videos and slowly gathering supplies. Our kids have no idea!
I will be getting a female morkie by Christmas 🎄. I also want to say,, I really have enjoyed all your videos I've watched. Thank your for sharing your knowledge
Dec 5th, Austrailian Labradoodle. Aside from being my best friend, I work in the healthcare industry and I plan to train her up to hopefully go into hospitals, battered women's shelters to working with children with Disabilities, the list goes on. Her name is Daisy. 😍
I'll be getting a Cavalier King Charles Puppy. I've been preparing with a few months now. I've bought a travel crate with Matching cushion made for it for the puppy to sleep in at night and when I'm not here as well as putting the puppy into the crate at random times during the day to reduce the possibility of seperation anxiety. I have seventeen toys and a snuffle mat. I will be rotating the toys to three or four different toys every two or three days so that the puppy won't get bored of the toys. When I have the puppy two or three days I'll bring the puppy to the local pet shop to get a harness that fits them. I got a Lead and a collar for the puppies name tag. I have a popup playpen that I will use for a short while.I ordered one of those heartbeat teddies two days ago and it should be here on monday. I have a Dematting comb / Fur rake. I called the vets a few days ago to enquire about the puppies first vaccinations. I done my research to find out about reputable breeders that get their puppies and puppies parents health tested and I am on the waiting list for a good reputable breeder. I will make sure I have the right food for the puppy when they get here so that she wont be sick from food its not used to. I'll have a lifetime dog licence too. I'm sure I might forget something when the puppy gets here but I will be very prepared when I bring the puppy home.
@@HowToTrainADreamDog I had a cavalier King Charles up to June this year but she lost her battle with heart failure. She was on Foretekore+ and Lasox but they were not longer effective so she had to be put to sleep. I could have kept her alive but I hated seeing her suffer. I am hoping to be picking up the puppy very soon.
Can you do a video on how to train recall/ calling them over? Our 3.5 month olds lab is not phased when we call him over. Any tips or tricks? We are a very Treat Friendly home so he knows how to sit, shake, lay down etc. I just wish he would come when we call him!
oh wow!! 2 dogs at once. It’s important for each dog to have their own space. As they grow and mature they will potentially fight for space and being in small close quarters would not be safe. When they are little we want them to have as much separate time as possible so hyper-bonding doesn’t become too big of an issue for you. They should be crated separately, trained separately (before they can be trained together), walked separately and have their own playtime and downtime as well as one on one time with you. Of course, we want them to interact and play together but littermates that don't get enough time away from each other become significantly bonded together and you will likely be the third wheel in the relationship. We want you to be the focus so they pay attention to you and follow commands when you ask. Dogs that don’t get enough time apart tend to only focus on each other. As they mature to about 2 years you may see more conflict between the two arise. Make sure to start training the day they come home and follow the advice above so you don’t run into this littermate syndrome issue. Many breeders refuse to allow littermates to go to the same home for this reason. Unfortunately, not all breeders understand the severity of this issue and haven’t done behavior modification once the problems have escalated.
Thanks for your video's, we're getting our aussie tomorrow and can't wait to get our new family member in our house and start the learning process. have a good day.
Is it uncommon for people to groom their own dogs? I had a poodle mix when I was a kid and once I was old enough, I did all his grooming, even keeping his fur long and poof. I groom my long hair dogs now too. Getting a rough collie in a few months and will groom that pup myself as well.
Im looking into getting a border collie puppy and would like to know if u think that it's a OK breed for me. I have obedience trained my 2 labrador dogs, I live around a dairy farm and have unlimited exercise space for it and I'm planing on doing agility so what do u think? All replies welcome it all helps my hard decision❤️
I also have a quesiton, how do you know when to cut your puppies nails??? I am scared too cut too much off so I only snip a little bit each time. But Im nto sure when to stop and hwo often I should do it. is their a guidline??
When their nails are very long you need to cut them , but make sure you don't cut too close to the wuick of the nail which you will see as a pink bit inside the nail, If the nail is curling down too close to the pads of their feet then the nails need to be cut. If you are too nervous to cut the nails bring the dog to a groomers or to the vets to have the puppies nails cut.
@@Joice_M you will have to get the vet to cut the mail then because if you cut the quick their nail might get infected and it might have to be removed.
My dog still drives me crazy and she’s 11 months... I just want her to stop doing bad things 😫😔😢 I should have watched this before me and my family got her
