You’re so right about puppies liking soft crap... my friend recommended a super hard plastic Benebone and my 10-week puppy won’t even touch it... he loves plush toys, it’s the only thing he really ever wants to play with, and he’s never torn one up. He likes the puppy Kong too but still prefers the plush toys.
Your videos are so great! We´re getting a dog in two months time. My houseband and I have had dogs before, but last time is over 13 years ago. Our kids have never lived with a dog, so we use your videos to both catch up and revitalize out puppy training skills, but also getting our boys up to speed on how this works. We have watched this video together, made notes, and will go out tomorrow and get some of the things we need.

hey everyone! i got her two months ago, and she’s doing great with me. she’s not a master at pottying, but she’s getting there. she’s a mischievous but smart girl for sure! believe me, it’s a difficult thing to train and take care of a puppy, so keep that in mind and choose the right dog for you! i love her, and her name is Khione, so yeah!

Just got an 8 week poodle puppy yesterday and glad I did things instinctively what you already mentioned about food in crate, small plush toys, treat reward positive behaviors, no bedding in plastic crate yet. It’s reassuring!
Also never thought about having house leash & didn’t know about Kong. So will be subscribing and watching ALL your videos as I watched this from beginning to end without skipping lol
You cracked me up when you saw the little Kong! I was so tempted to get that little cutie for our Golden Retriever but realize she will most likely grow out of it super fast so the reliable red is what I plan to get. Your whole channel of videos have been very helpful for this overwhelmed soon-to-be puppy parent! We had a Bichon for 17 years and we did not train him well (we were young!) so I am determined to do it right this time. Thanks for all your help!

Im getting my play pen for the puppy in 4 days and all i need now is the food that the breeders fed the puppies so i can switch them to the food i want to give them.
We just adopted a cute puppy with a border collie mom and a cane corso x lab daddy. She is a dream puppy thanks to a month of studying from your videos. I brought a female border collie puppy on 21st June. My previous dog was also a female, but a border collie mix I found on the street - the best dog ever! She was so amazing that I still can't believe my luck in finding her. The little one is so far failing when compared to her. :D

Cute4evergirls Awesome - I believe they are medium size once full grown. Ours is 4 months old now, he has a long body and his legs are longer than a corgi’s, he seems to take more after his lab mom. But I have seen some with shorter legs too, it just depends on how the genetics mix.

Thanks for these videos. We've just put a deposit down on a Great Pyrenees/Spanish Mastiff mix so I'm bingeing these videos to be as prepared as possible! The toy aisle bit made me laugh though because my last dog was a 60kg Bullmastiff and those rope toys were literally the only toys I could buy him that wouldn't be utterly destroyed in less than a day! 😂

@@crazyperson1063 at first not very good, but it was mainly my fault for not taking him out enough. Now I make sure to take him out every 30 minutes or so, but with online school it can be hard finding a good time to do that lol

I have a 2 year old mini poodle and I followed all of these before I found this channel, it is very helpful to go by these tips. I also had a trainer come to the house to help with biting and treat training, it is very important to be on a routine with your puppy so they aren't lost when they first come home. Very useful video., thank you. We have been wondering what collar, leash, toys... to get for when we get our puppy. It’s all quite overwhelming. Your video has help a lot , to buy the right equipment but also to be organised and ready for when the time comes. One thing though, I have had to play parts of the video few times. I’m French and you speak very fast for me 😊 I got there in the end 👍

I love your videos! So helpful as we're planning on getting a german shepherd puppy. I had a question about the water... you said that the puppy should have access to water all the time, and then went on to say you use the crate water bowl when the puppies are older and "farther along in their training" and should have access to water all the time. Should puppies water access be limited to a degree when they're just beginning their crate training/potty training? Or should your puppy have full access in their crate no matter the age?
Second, I would love to see a video on traveling with your dogs! Especially with larger breeds... I would love to fly my dog home to AB from QC to see the family and to climb mountains, but I have no idea how to go about it. What crate, potty breaks etc.. Thanks!

Im getting a miniature australian shepherd in october, but he will be 10 weeks at that point. Super nervous but excited because he will be my first dog of my own and not a family dog. I grew up with alaskan malamutes, so having a smaller dog is something I am not used to.
Ironic, considering the one I'm getting on the 23rd will be the largest dog I've had (2 Cavalier's and a West Highland Terrier)

**** i would recommend having a harness instead of lead attached to their collar. having a harness won’t choke or pull on their neck like a leash does!!!!!!****
I agree also if the dog pulls a lot or gets excited easily!
I think that too also it’s easier if like the neck leash is to big it’s way easier for the puppy to escape from it.
I'm researching and I've found that harness training first can allow the pup to pull more so they don't learn to walk nicely as well
@@toni5543 you're right. I've learnt the hard way with my first dog..lucky he's just a pug. But with my boxer. I did it with collar, you have control to quickly correct the behavior.
@@mcham0846 glad to hear! I just got my little pup and the collar is working so far. She seems to pick up turn signals much better with the collar than the harness

We are getting an Irish Setter puppy. The breeder allows them to go home at 12 weeks. I've been watching some of your videos today. Thanks for the info. I really want to raise her right and give our puppy a good start. I have heard this breed can be more challenging to train.
