Great job, Memphis. Lovely to see the old car getting love. One thing I have found with body filler is that with the first coat, especially, a quick way to get the contours close to right is with a wood rasp. It is surprising how well it works.

Good video! Subscribed! You should see the state of the E30 I'm restoring. Had to put an arch in that, weld up the battery tray area, i have the dash out.. The heater matrix is also shot.. Done the head gasket! Its never ending lol

Is there any reason you chose not to use etch primer or epoxy primer over the bare metal??? Etch primer works really well on bare metal surfaces to prevent rust.
Hey. I wached a few videos of this bmw and i have to say that i like what ur doing but in the same time i would like to point a few mistakes that u might did so you can still repair them if u think that my advice is worth of your atention. 1 of all you have to spray a base coat of acid primer, then a coat of akrill primer, and only then you can put a seam sealer and anticorrosove material on top of it. Acid primer does react with epoxy primer or pain so be sure su use akrill primer on top of it. Another thing that i would like to suggest for you is that you should remove your interior all over again and take off a sound deadening material becouse im basically sure that ur going to find rust there. And ofcourse ur gonna find rust everywhere where brackets are spotwelded and is a contact of 2 metals. Over all I like a fact that ur gonna save this bmw from death. By the way if u are not sure about what i said u can check out my project in my instagram: old_cars_have_soul

Next time, remember to paint the inside of the welded metal in the foot compartment. I once had water in there in my e34 and these spots rusted to hell from the inside out.
it looks like insides of ur sills needed to be welded too,or atleats should have grinded as much rust off and protect it,without that ur car gonna rust up pretty soon again,depends if u drive on salty roads or if u keep it in garage,but when u doing something like that,would be wiser to do it properly

Hello, I'm having an old e28 as well (525i from 1986) and I'm having issues with the windows and the trunk joints; water can pass through ! Do you know any place I could find this ? I'm living in Belgium as well
@@saimone1981 i am not. But the can with the car filler i use literally says "dont use epoxy primer underneath the filler, you will make the filler not work properly and in worse case falling out the spot."

1:29 a tip is to put a dishrag over the welding spot and kept it wet by spraying water on

Quick tip, before even putting filler on it you should spray it with a zinc coating, works as primer and excellent rust protection. Love the videos

You don't need argon. For Mig welding You can use a mixture carbon dioxide with argon. Much cheaper and still good for welding :)
