    I lived in tombstone for a little while. I've been to Johnny Ringo's grave. I talked to the locals that are well into there 80's. Buckskin Leslie was seen heading in the direction Johnny road in. It's totally against Johnny Ringo's character MO to commit suicide. He believed in himself strong minded. There was a lot of people after him. And he was found with cheap pistols not the ones that he owned. I believe Buckskin Leslie killed him.

      Maybe so, BUT you then have to say that Ringo took a knife and cut a chunk of his own scalp and hair off and threw it away. Drunk or not that had to hurt.
      Sorry, but I think he was murdered. He was found passed out after trying to get his horse.
      As for hair being a trophy. It is possible. It is just he had a bunch of enemies.

      And you’re greatly incorrect as well. Latin was taught in schools. Small children learned it. This may be lied about and even occult in certain circles but still a fact that’s easily proved. And he and Holiday insulted each other in the Latin verbiage. The very insults were recorded..can’t remember them rn but it’s factual.

  • @oldhillbillybuckkowalski
    @oldhillbillybuckkowalski ปีที่แล้ว +36

    I agree, suicide is the most likely cause of death for Johnny Ringo. I spent my fair share of years battling with PTSD and a number of years helping other veterans struggling with PTSD as a counselor. Even had some that I just could not seem to reach that cause me some hurt to this day and is why I no longer work in that field from what you've described, based on statements made from people who knew him suicide would definitely not be out of the question and since everyone who claimed otherwise has been outright proven to be incorrect with their own claims of killing him it leaves suicide as the most likely situation and I'd bet it played out about like you speculated. Johnny Ringo, still drunk, feeling tired of life kicking him in the balls, tired of never being rid of whatever was chasing him decided that there was only one way to end his problems once and for all.

    In my over 50 yrs of reading anything I could get my grubby little fingers on. I came to a theoretical conclusion that Ringo suffered from Depression. All his personality traits lean that way and the majority of decisions he made reinforce my theory. Being drunk as shit and depressed suicide is quite logical to that person. So your belief is very plausible. After hearing this story, I agree. Very good work Josh.

    • @davidaston5773
      @davidaston5773 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Logically, if someone shoots themselves to commit suicide they will be hit by the force of the bullet and their hand holding the gun would loosen?
      It isn't beyond possibility Johnny Ringo was drunk, and therefore, his usual instincts and response times would've been severely compromised. The only flaw in my logic is, possibly, the fact that alcohol then was stronger and men as drunk as Ringo were used to it?
      But, if he were very drunk it would give a person or person(s) attacking him an advantage.
      Plus, as stated earlier in the video, Ringo said he didn't expect to live long?
      Was that because he KNEW already people were out to get him?
      OR, backing the suidicde angle, it was because HE was already thinking of killing himself?
      If he did? It could've, sadly, have been his drunk state making any depression worse.
      A lot of people who kill themselves are on drink and drugs. If they'd been sober they would had more resistance to their emotions?
      Either way he ended up dead. But, of course, this was at time when information took a while to get from one place/person to another. Which means, history record wise, we only have the picture of what happened from sources which are vunerable to falsifying or being changed.
      RIP Ringo.

    Wow, great take on the mystery. Of course, none of us were there and the records are often full of fanciful embellishments, but this was a great take that makes sense. BTW, Doc may or may not have said, "I'm your Huckleberry," but it was a fairly common Southern expression at the time meaning "I'm your man," or "I'm the man for the job." Like so many expressions, it kind of doesn't make any sense to anyone who didn't grow up with it.

    It absolutely cannot be doc Holliday he was 700 miles away. It absolutely could not be Wyatt Earp he was six hundred miles away and both of these are verifiable. It was either buckskin Frank Leslie or John Ringo about those are really the only two suspects. I know the movie list. Holiday in a stand-up gunfight but doc Holliday was 700 miles away and John Ringo was shot as he slept. He was passed out from all the liquor he had and buckskin Leslie who just a few years later would murder his live-in girlfriend saw a victim who he had argued with earlier. That is the most likely happening and he told a gourd after he murdered his live-in girlfriend that he come upon Johnny Ringo sleeping and he shot him and took a piece of his hair for souvenir. That's good enough for me especially since doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp are 100% out.. Johnny was the number one gun in tombstone all the contemporaries which are the ones that knew more than anyone of today all said he was best and it was well known that he was the best.

      Unfortunately that story seems to just be a very widespread internet rumor. In fact, there is no written history showing that coffins or coffin handles were called huckles. Nor has anyone been able to locate any instance of the phrase “huckle bearer” being used prior to the movie Tombstone.
      In contrast, you can find some variation of “I’m your huckleberry” used many times in the 19th century. It’s in books, poems, advertisements, etc. it essentially means “I’m your man” or “I’m the right person for the job “.

    About Doc Holliday, I read that a descendant of his, who was an attorney, read through all of the court documents and suggests that he may not have actually been physically present in Colorado at the time of Ringo's death. Instead, the document verbiage at the time may have merely indicated that he was represented, probably by counsel. If that's the case, it reopens the possibility that Doc was still in AZ when Ringo died, thus lending credence to the assertion that he killed Ringo. Just food for thought.

    Your theory of suicide is the most logical. As stated by witnesses, Ringo was drunk out of his mind, probably suffering from some sort of depression the alcohol just enhanced the effects of his illness and “saw no other way out”, also because of his violent past he could have been suffering from a form of PTSD.

    Very interesting video as always Josh. Although the scene in Tombstone with Doc Holliday and Johnny Ringo was cool, i still go with the suicide story. I can imagine seeing what happened to his father in front of him could have have had a lasting impact on his life. Was wondering if Johnny Ringo's buddy Curly Bill Brocious would make a good topic for a video?

    I think "Buckskin" killed him... Billy Claiborne narced him out after Buckskin mortally wounded him, and already left the scene. Then after going to prison for killing his girl, Buckskin also admitted to killing Ringo... The suicide doesn't make sense, because Ringo still had the bullets in his gun, and wasn't about to die of thirst, with water 200 yards away from where he died....

    One little known fact is that Ringo was a failed Elvis impersonator! He was a failure because nobody knew who Elvis was, since he hadn't been born yet. Another little know fact is that, before he was born, Elvis took great offense when people tried to impersonate him. My research has proven to me that an unborn Elvis shot and killed Ringo. When Elvis was born, and later became famous, he found it flattering to be impersonated. One of Elvis' greatest regrets was his pre-birth killing of Johnny Ringo. Elvis was embarrassed that he didn't foresee the honor Ringo was bestowing upon him so many years before others did so.

    Sad that people feel the need to end their own lives. Evil likes to twist people all around. It us sad that more do not find the Lord and trust in him. We all have temptations. The idea is not to surrender to them.
    Because of the horse being gone and the hair am not so sure he killed himself. The gun in his hand is not necessarily proof of suicide. Since the body jerks at impact of bullit, the gun flies from the hand as a rule. At least that is what have learned from reading. I think is was a revenge killing but because he had friends. It was made to look like suicide.
    As for our soldiers. Not all people should go to war. Especially those who have genital tender hearts. Praying for all of our veterans to stay safe and to heal. God forgives them through Yeshua Jesus, for going to war, just like He firguves us all. It is just excepting this truth.
    Thank you for sharing
    God bless

    The story I recieved in the late 1960s was that Jonny Ringo had been shot in the leg by a Mexican ranch hand as JR was stealing a horse out North East of Tombstone. He rode East to Turkey Creek Canyon. We discovered his grave in 1969. I suspect that he shot himself there.

    I am distantly related to a man named John King Fisher aka King Fisher. He was a shootist and evidently really good with two 6 shooters at the same time. He was friendly with Doc Holiday and Bat Masterson. Unfortunately he was shot and killed in a gun fight at a hotel he and another guy was at. My father has letters that his grandmother had from family members who talked about him. The family evidently didn't want anything to do with him.

    The coroners jury hadn’t any motivation to call it a homicide. Ringo was a dangerous criminal. My take is people were relieved he was dead. Wyatt Earp & Doc Holliday were in Colorado. They didn’t do it. If Ringo didn’t off himself my guess is Buckskin Frank Leslie shot him.

    Johnny could hardly stay straight up on his horse, so I figure he couldn't hold his revolver straight enough to shoot himself. Probably missed, and the poor slug had to orbit the whole bloody planet to come back around and whack him. The extra speed the slug picked up from the gravitational sling-shot effect would explain how it blew that piece of scalp off and dissipated it to smithereens. That's how it happened, I'm quite certain.
