+Anamaria Dan (Dana) So this is how I did it with my rabbit and it turned pretty successful first lock them in there cage for a day (which means no outside time) then the next find out where he pooped and peed the most then put a litter tray there you'll find out quickly that they'll certainly appreciate having there own place to do there business because there are such clean animals. Keep in mind that usually they won't be COMPLETELY litter trained but usually they'll poo a tiny bit out of the litter tray but there pretty easy to pop into the tray.

Anyone who owns small animals or is planning on getting one, PLEASE READ (this regards exercise balls, or hamster balls.)
those things are death traps. Small animals explore the world by touching, by smelling, by being present to their surroundings. Exercise balls restrict all of those. small animals have delicate respritory systems, and need lots of air flow, and exercise balls have EXTREMELY poor ventilation. I once knew someone's hamster who died of suffication in one of those things. and because of that poor air flow, it gets dangerously hot. for animals like chinchillas who cannot tolerate heat, they not only will be in uncomfortable levels of heat, even health threatening, they can die just from the heat. for animals like guinea pigs, their backs can literally snap from the unnatural curve. do you want to snap your beloved pets back? so, with all this, the stress you're putting your pet through by putting them in those "exercise wheels" is barbaric. I may be one sided, but what good comes out of those things? watching your pet freak out wondering what the heck is happening while you stand by and laugh? we love our pets so we have to treat them safely and respectfully. thank you for reading this whole thing (read: rant :-P ) and lets make our fur babies lives a better one. 🐭🐹🐰🐀🐇🐁

Omg how did that rabbit stay so still during this entire video xD I can hold my rabbit for about 3 minutes before he gets too wiggly. But that's also understandable because they are prey animals and most don't really prefer to be picked up, but I guess your rabbit is just super comfortable with you which is nice to see :)

I had a pair of bonded rabbits and both lived to at least 12, 1 is still alive. They were a male/female bonded pair, so they were spayed and neutered. The male still marked, but he sprayed before neutering and stopped once he was snipped. I don't feed them anything other than hay and pellets because fruits and veggies always seemed to upset their stomachs and made their poop smell really bad. I noticed that the biggest thing with them is to keep their diet consistent. Maybe not when they were younger, but since both of mine have been geriatric for 4 years, they do best on manna pro pellets and some timothy hay. They have never had GI stasis or any other problems like that, and I think it is because I have been extremely consistent with their diet.

you can have all different breeds of rabbits in one cage, as long as they are neutered or spayed so they don't fight (boys) or get uterus cancer (girls)

They can have alfalfa until they are 6 months, they slowly switch to timothy and oat hay as well as orchard grass. Free range outside can be dangerous and prevent a strong bond with your rabbit. Rabbits really should be fixed.

+Happy Tails do you live on a farm or do you have a modern day house. Also, are rabbits okay to be outside where there ARE fences, but fences they could easily get through? or would you need to train them in an enclosed area outside on grass and bring one of those cage enclosures with no roof. Just wondering!

I was very pleased watching your video about rabbits because I love my rabbit and I've only had her since August 13. However she has bonded with me so well, but I do want to make sure I'm doing the right things with her as far as taking care of her. I know you say that rabbits do not need to be spayed or neutered, yet so many different veterinarians have told me that if I wasn't to spay my girl, Khali then she could/rabbits in general, due of cervical cancer within 5 years. Every vet told me the exact same thing. That scares me to death. Im not saying you are wrong or anything like that, but I just want to know that I did it am doing the right thing for her. Thank you so much 🐰🐇
P.s. It would be very nice if you could go into that a little bit more in another bunny rabbit video. Thanks again!

I don't know what to do with my rabbits!! We have two boy lops but we keep the, in separate cages cause they were started to damage each other. We recently bought new hutches for them which have a downstairs to go onto the grass. We give them pellets everyday (there are 4 of us kids so we take turns) every time it's my go I give them carrots each or some lettuce. We sometimes give them like a corn thing made for rabbits. It's it an absolute need for them to have the wooden toys??? And how much food shall we give them. When we got them the guy said to give them a full dish full (pottery) is that too much?? One more thing. What is harsh weather? Because a couple of years back we put a horse rug over them. But we don't know what to use now that it is ruined. We have a waterproof sheet but it may be plastic, is it suitable??

We had rabbits growing up and we let them free roam the secure backyard and they were very happy! They kept the neighborhood cats away (rabbits can be pretty tough and protect their space). So we had wonderful breeds of wild birds hang out in our cat-free backyard. It was a pleasant side effect. Our rabbits pretty much litter box trained themselves when we took them inside. They could tell that the bathroom was where we went and started automatically going on the bathroom floor, so we put a little box in that spot and the rest is history. Our rabbits were super sweet to us and I was very surprised as a kid that my friends who had rabbits that kept them in cages all day tended to be very mean to humans. It makes sense, they were probably very isolated and sad. I think giving them free roaming in a larger space 90% of the time is incredibly important to rabbit mental health.

In this case you should have two rabbits, one would be very lonely

    • @mjoachim9554

Happy Tails because of my allergies, this isn't possible. My husband and I do climb into her pen and play with her.
We allow her into the living room, but only for a couple of hours a day. And because she wasn't in a pen with other bunnies when I adopted her, it's almost like she doesn't even know what she is missing. We keep the radio on for her during the day, stuffed toy that she actually cleans, and electric candles to keep her comfortable at night. If you have any other suggestions that would prevent loneliness, that would be helpful

Please tell me if guinea pigs get along with rabbits, because I am going to let the rabbits run around outside too! :) Great video by the way :)

in regards to neutering, My male lionhead is about 3 years old and I only had him for his whole life. I noticed he would mount anything that is small and furry, like my male cat for example. He just mounts and humps everything that is remotely rabbit like, including actual rabbit males! I can't physically keep him in his pen with any other rabbit. Would neutering alter his behavior?
Thank you so much for all of your video's, insightful and informative, you are a fantastic educator!

I have a question. I've seen some hedgehogs and other animals in a very large bin instead of a cage,so I was wondering if this could work for rabbits too? Because I feel like it would be difficult to find a cage that is big enough to hold a litter box and enough space for the rabbit. If anyone knows could you please let me know,if so thanks so much.

Could you do a daily pet routine?

  • @PrincessmintyAj
    @PrincessmintyAj 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Can you show where you keep your rabbit? My parents want to have my rabbit outside once the winter is over and in my area there is a few predators especially since my neighborhood is surrounded my forest, When I first found I was finally getting a rabbit after talking about getting one for years (first I had to move from Europe to the USA and then move out of the rental house) so once I got one I went straight to TH-cam, I found Hollys Holland rabbitry and even though she is a breeder I found good advice from her, while still making sure what she said was true, the main thing I disagreed with was wire bottoms but I found her outdoor area pretty nice as an idea but in my area it's not the most efficient, I was thinking a shed but that may be expensive, maybe a DIY shed but I'm not sure how that's going to go... your advice seems good and your ideas are alike to my moms beliefs which is something most rabbits youtubers don't have.
Also if I do get a shed can I house foster rabbits that are spayed/ neutered with my non spayed rabbit, I'm not allowed to get another rabbit because of the price and my parents aren't sure about adopting one yet but if I get a shed I feel I will have more play area and more cage space
I'm sorry one more question lol is a pet store cage ok if I do get a shed and they always have roam in the shed, like a base, I've heard many people with Freeroam rabbits, full house, few rooms, or just a room will use those as a base
Currently I just have a DIY hutch

hi meghan, i dont know if you will read this, but im SO happy i found your video. there are so many people that say that we need to spay/neuter or take it to the vet often. many videos suggest all of these and it makes having a pet sound incredibly intimidating. i first thought that you would be like other pet youtubers suggesting things that are not necessarily needed and cost alot of money but after this video, i know that you arent one of them, and thats what makes you special :) right after i post this comment, im going to subscribe :) love you ××

unbranded bleach jtmcdauer Bryleigh Parkinson Choi Dohyun PLEASE do not listen to anything she is saying besides the information about the vaccines. Rabbits should be fed timothy based pellets and very little. If they are past 6 months old they should be fed timothy, oat, and orchard hay. Because I found some people disagree to bath the bunny cause it will create stress and heart attack to the bunnies, while other sources said that it's okay to bath the bunny as long as using warm water and be gentle to the bunnies to prevent them from getting too much stress. Please your advice.. Thank you :)

I really really really want a pet bunny and I would pay the money I have more than enough and I have been taking care of bunnies my hole life since I was 3. I am 9 now. That’s six years I have dogs and cats of my own and I can handle them besides, I have anxiety and S.A.D. It’s a mental health problem. I need a emotional support pet and a new pet bunny is the best way to do it. And I have plenty of carrots and cabbage in my garden in my back yard! And I have plenty of room in my bedroom. So imma tell all of this to my mom and listen to your playlist about rabbits and bunnies. Thanks for educating kids about animals and I am super responsible with 2 dogs and 3 cats that I help take care of every day! I think I’m ready for a bunny.
