    ESV study Bible is the best that I have seen so far. I can say that I will be adding separate commentary books to read once I get into the NT. My first Bible was an NIV Bible, I read it intermittently for over 10 years. The book itself holds a sentimental value so when it started getting pretty beat up I bought a new one, started reading it & then started thinking of all these questions as I was reading. Next thing I know I’m 4 new bibles in & answering a lot of my questions. I have a Zondervan NIV, Crossway ESV, Holman CSB she reads truth, & a Thomas Nelson Women’s Study Bible. Each one has some pretty great differences. But right now the ESV is my go to when the others don’t have what I’m looking for. My ONLY gripe is the text is too small so it gets hard to read when I’m elbow deep in studying.

    • @askNatasha82
      @askNatasha82 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dennisokada9287 I did see that when I was looking for an ESV bible, but I was looking specifically for the Crossway ESV study bible because of the commentary at the bottom and the space around the text. I’m still working in my ESV, just a lot slower than before. I had to learn some discipline to control the enthusiasm I would develop when reading scripture that would cause me to stumble while reading verses.

    As far as study Bible, I like the Thompson Chain because it’s not from any theological standpoint. It just lets the Bible speak for itself. I know it’s more of a reference Bible than a study Bible but I like it.

    I've been using a HCSB Minister's Bible since it was first published. It is soft, had gold edges, holds well when I read from it without having a pulpit and the audience has never heard from the Bible before, and is black leather, and single column. When I listen to the HCSB audio Bible at night, I feel like I am going to sleep and God's word comes 'alive' .

    You know what would be cool? Perhaps you and other Bible reviewers do a Tier Video ranking the different types of Bibles. Unfortunately the term premium is very broad. It would be cool to see how you would rank a Schuyler or Allan against some of zonservan’s Buffalo leathers or Cambridge vs Humble Lamb. Or how you would rank rebinds, pulpit Bibles, etc. just a thought.

Even if a person disagrees with him on some things as I do ( as I do the ESV Study Bible, CSB Study Bible and The Biblical Theology Study Bible as well ) they should admit it is a very helpful study Bible. There is way too much talk of externals. I prefer the plain vanilla approach. The conversation should be about translations and less about superficial stuff --how it feels in your hands --the leather etc. You both are going off-track.
    The only 'Study Bible' I have is the NET. If one can call it a study Bible. I prefer the text with appropriate footnotes. Commentaries should be kept separate in other books --not wrapped around a translation. But I guess I hold the minority view.

      @@AFrischPerspective Yep, from 56:15 to the end was good stuff. We in the West have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to the sheer quantities of translations and the plethora of Bible styles --the outer adornments. People from the poorer parts of the world may be blessed to have only the Gospel of John or the four Gospels at most. And there are no frilly wrappings that would entice the reader. They would be so appreciative --to the point of tears to get only a portion of the Word of God in their own language finally.
      Would we be content to have only Pew Edition Bible translations? That's what it really comes down to.
      If certain folks can afford to have a luxurious $100.00 Bible translation maybe they can see the need of the marginalized folks of the world and donate to Biblica or some such organization so that the unreached are able to secure at least scores of New Testaments in their native tongue with no goatskin covers.

    I have 10 cheap bibles I use together, yes I should've got a interlinear bible maybe, truth is I got addicted to buying bibles. Actually to be really really truthful, I would buy a bible to compensate for my drug addiction failures. Yes I would fall (fail/screw up) then on my way home I would buy a bible to make the pain subside, pretty messed up. Yes I'm an idiot and yes now I have an extensive library of bibles and study bibles, and boxes of other book by various Authors most of which are sleeping. Needless to say I have failed a lot and my collection is wrought with ill feelings from the sheer hypocrisy to which their constant use only amplifies. The light of my darkness is of a sickening blindness. Don't be like me, pointless good deeds DON'T win favour with God. 'Lord, Lord...?' is not a good place to be (mt7:21-23).

    • @ethanrichard4950
      @ethanrichard4950 ปีที่แล้ว

      They wrote some lies about the Torah. The Bible we have now, it's all doctrinally connected and cohesive. There is fulfilled prophecy in Ezekiel and Daniel. If we can trust those books, why not the others. The entire Bible is centered around Jesus, whom we know lived and died and rose. The early Christians stuck to the big three doctrinal points of Christianity:
      Diety of Christ
      Death of Christ
      Resurrection of Christ
      These fit with the New Testament teachings. God wants us to share His word to the world. He's not going to let the thing be corrupted into something false. We see man's fall, sin in a corrupted world, the savior redeeming, and news of salvation ready for gifting. That's history, that's God's word, and although we bicker on secondary issues, the main message has been kept, because God implied it would, and I trust God.
