I am even colorblind. So the processes are difficult, but not impossible.
My friends help me to deal with it.
I hope you enjoy my journey and follow me to see the magic!
See you soon in the next kit,
David

A-6A Intruder - 1/48 Hobby Boss Full Build
Hello there!
It's finally here!
The full build of my A6- A Intruder in 1/48 by Hobby Boss.
It took 86 days.
Almost 500 parts installed.
Met lots of new cool people. Tried out lots of new techniques.
Motivated. Desperate. Angry...
There are lots of descriptions for this model and I could write even more about all the thoughts and impressions that came up during the construction.
I have to admit, I am extremely impressed with the result! There are definitely places here and there that could have been done better. But compared to when I started out as a scale modeler, I didn't expect such a result after such a short time.
I would like to thank everyone who supported me during the group build!
Cheers
David

Hello there my dear model making friends! Before I introduce you to my main model, the Intruder, I took part in my first competition. Unfortunately, I didn't win with my diorama. Too less time, too less research. But my Rescue Hawk did win a silver medal, YEAH! But I had a lot of fun with my first ever diorama and learned something new to work on. What do you think about the obvious change? Let...

Nice work
You should have spent more time on adding correct details. You have a mixture of an A6A, and A6E model aircraft. Wings weren't ever folded with speed brakes and flaps open. Fuselage speed brakes were never used after wingtip speed brakes were installed. Nvg lights were never on an A6A. Way too much of a hodgepodge of parts from different models of the Intruder used all at once on here is way too noticeable to me. I worked on the Intruder my whole time in the Marine Corps.
I already heard about the differences, but after I finished it. Very disappointing situation for me. But I have to handle with it now. Maybe I will fix the issues. Another said the seats are wrong. But in the kit these seats are included only. Thank you for all the information. I hope you enjoyed it though. Greetings from Germany 🤘🏼
@@myplasticprojects I enjoyed it very much. You have a rare talent that is positively highlighted in this beautiful model. I don't mean to give you a hard time for your effort. It is a beautiful piece of work. I've known about the mistakes Hobby Boss made on their model for awhile now though. Sometimes people have found and fixed them, and sometimes not. But the job you did on the model is awesome, and seeing it brings back some very good memories for me, and I'm sure for others as well. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.
Sehr cool gemacht 🔥
Vielen Dank 💪🏼
You added all those extra lovely details and then spoil realism by not adding the Swastikas.
The guy I built that model don’t want it so I didn’t add it. The models I build for myself will have them. But in Germany it isn’t allowed to show them. So in case I choose a thumbnail, I need to blur the swastikas or I need to choose an angle you‘ll not see it. It’s a forbidden symbol to show in public
Videos great but the musics a bit loud, can't hear you too well
Excuse me it’s too loud. The next one will be better! But nice to see you like the video!
nice build. video would be better without the BGM
Thanks man! Cause it’s too loud or do think there is no need for music generally? :)
My friend. You are one of the few youtubers that understands how to use the airbrush. Light steady passes instead of shaking it in all directions. Well done!
That’s the way! The only way to achieve a smooth finish :) Thank you!
Exelente trabajo felicitaciones !!!👏👏👏 Me dejaste muchos conocimientos sobre técnicas y herramientas. Gracias por compartirlo. Saludos desde Buenos Aires 👍
Muito obrigado meu amigo! Fico feliz em saber que você gostou e até aprendeu algo com ele! Muitas saudações da Alemanha 🤘🏼
great build could you please turn the music down
Thanks :) Yeah of course. I’ll check the next video before I upload it. I still don’t know what the problem was with the output.

Very nice build of the intruder ! I worked for Grumman Aerospace Corp. in the US for 17 years building the F-14 Tomcat, A-6 Intruder and EA-6B Prowler aircraft for the US Navy and I'm also a model builder. It was the perfect place to get information on detailing my kit's. All I had to do was just go to work ! One note on adding any electrical wires on aircraft models and that's they are NEVER twisted as I see so many model builders do. All harness wires were only run straight in bundles, no twisting. Keep on building ! Cheers.
That is good info. Thanks. Twisting cables or wire runs would probably cause inductive interference and undue abrasion. Any other tips? I am building the Revell A-6E in Vietnam era livery. I plan on building a HobbyBoss A-6E for my sons father-n-law. He retired as an O-6 and was an A-6E B/N in the 1980s/90s and later a Sqdn Maintenance Officer.
Hey Joe! Thank you very much 👌🏼 I’m jealous you had a wonderful job! I hope you enjoyed it :). I appreciate your advice! It will help me to improve the next kit 🤘🏼 Happy modeling Joe!
@@ChrisNobodySpecial You are absolutely correct. Good info !
Just stunning! What a great build, well done. Minor question: Why is the starboard wingtip navigation light shown w/a yellow cover? I worked the flight deck on 3 carriers w/A-6 squadrons & always thought the lights appeared dark blue when unlit. Again, incredible piece of art.
Thank you very much sir!! To be honest? I don’t know. That’s a decal. And some reference pictures showed this light in yellow too. So maybe it’s up to the aircraft and version? Anyway, thank you for the advice. I will try to figure put which is right :) I’m glad you enjoyed it and for your kind comment 🤘🏼
The He 111 is in my opinion one of the most beautiful bombers of World War II. Congratulations on the execution of the model, especially considering its size. Only note (since you ask) I would not use copper wire for the antenna, better the fishing line 😉. Greetings from Italy
Definitely! Before I started the hobby I never heard about the HE 111 to be honest. But it is definitely a beauty! And yeah I’ve got this advice already and bought antenna lines from AK. I will use it for my C47 🤘🏼 Greetings from Germany 😁
This cannot be a 1:48 model! It's huge! Must be 1:32 or even 1:24!
It’s nice to hear this one seems like it’s bigger than it actually is. I hope, you enjoyed it 🤘🏼
Beyond beautiful! Very good work!
Thank you so much! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
What a terrific job.....thank you !!

Can you please tell me, who else from this team build group i can find on TH-cam?
That’s a really good question 🤔 I will take a look and let you know under this comment who is on TH-cam 🤘🏼
very nice sir!

Donde compraste los instrumentos del modelo PE? Gracias
Gracias

Reslly nice work bud. My only recommendation would be the music. It was a bit too loud. The calming type you had ¾ of the way through was nice. Just too loud. I had to turn it up to hear you, then turn it back down. The model came out awesome
Hey Franky! First, thank you that you like my work! Second, it is so annoying that I messed up with the loudness and some of you have problems with that! I apologize! Next time I need to check the volume before I make the video public. I hope you will take a look around for the next build 🤘🏼
Have never built a model in my life, but I love watching model making channels on YT. So glad I found your channel. You do a fantastic job!
Wow! I appreciate your comment my friend! I’m glad you like my work! Stay tuned for more 🤘🏼
You should give it a go. We all had to start somewhere. It is a very supportive community.
Your voice overs are great.
Thank you very much! I think it’s far better than reading the steps and things I did. So you can be more concentrated on the build 🤘🏼
Awesome build my friend keep up the good work 👍
Thank you very much Juan 🤘🏼 I will try to keep and improve this level of quality.
Outstanding work David. Bravo!
Thank you sir! 🤘🏼
Belíssimo trabalho. Parabéns! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Muito obrigado pelo comentário! :)
Beautiful build ! If I may, You will not see braided electrical cables in aviation. Harnesses are zip tied together only to avoid potential shorts and weakening wires.
Thank you very much! That is a very helpful information! I will remember your advice for the next kit :)
Lovely, keep going!
Thanks! :) I’ll definitely do!
Thank~you beautiful job.
Thank you :) I’m glad you like it!
Really cool ✈
Thank you 🤘🏼
amazing work 👌
Thank you 🤘🏼
This is absolutely phenomenal work! So much attention to detail, which I certainly appreciate! Also learned a lot of helpful tips for my projects. Thank you for sharing your passion and dedication!
i worked on the A6 for 4 years in the marines. The nonskid was not black. it was a dark grey. also on the wing leading edge, it was thick clear tape that was applied and because of sun fade/interaction it turn a mucky yellow color. :)
Very helpful information! Thank you! But it’s a little too late 🙃 hope you like it though 🤘🏼
What was the tape for on the leading edge? Was it to help with ice build-up? I was at El Toro MCAS in the 80s, right when they were bringing in the first F/A-18s. I remember as a 10 year old kid being at El Toro in 1968 when my brother was there after coming back from Vietnam. My little brother and I would sit next to the North side of the runway under a tree and a grassy area watch some of the flight ops. I remember the A-6s, A-4s and F-4s shooting approaches and full stops. To us little kids, we thought the A-6 was ugly with bulbous nose. Later on when I learned their all-weather capability, it became a favorite
@@ChrisNobodySpecial It keeps the paint from peeling off in the slipstream. Flying through rain without the tape would erode the paint off to bare aluminum and that's not good on a naval aircraft out in the salt air. I was at El Toro at the same time. You can guess where by my icon thingy! I got out just a month after the last F-4s flew off to the bone yard to be converted into target drones.
@@ChrisNobodySpecial I was stationed at MCAS El Toro in the 80's. The tape was to protect from rocks and other debrie from damaging the leading wing surface.
exited to see your final result😉
Oh you lucky you 😆 just take a look in my gallery 😁
Nice build and paint job. I just love the custom super detailing you have done with the wires and tubes. Keep it up mate!
Thank you very very much! 🤩 there is still much to improve but I’m happy with the result I could achieve with my current skills :)
My excuse when I bought my new airbrush😂 It came along with 9 new kits. These being: The 1/48 Hobbyboss F-111C Platz/Italeri EA-18G Growler in 6 Squadron livery Tamiya 1/32 F-15C Kadena Airbase Revell 1/32 F/A-18F Super Hornet Academy 1/35 AH-1W Super Cobra Academy 1/72 F/A-18D Academy 1/144 C-130 J-30 Tamiya 1/48 F-35A And the 1/48 Hobbyboss Hawk 127. So this is pretty relateble. Happy Modelling mate!🎉
🤣🤣 seems like a regular “I just want to buy one new paint bottle” Happy modeling for you too my friend 🤩
@@myplasticprojects Yeah thanks. I walk into a hobby store and then all of a sudden I come out with a few new bottles of paint and some other "important" materials😂
@FA-18Fguy And all these important tools will not be used for the next few years 🤣
Awesome build...no doubt......but, the A-6 Intruder and EA-6B Prowler did not fold wings with flaps/slats deployed. It would do severe damage. Unfold the wings or close the flaps/slats. Otherwise, this is a very nice build.
Thank you sir! And yeah. When I was almost done I got this information but then it was too late to correct it 😩 I thought this is like the “service position”.
@myplasticprojects Well, damn.....you may have to build two more then. One with folded wings with closed flaps/slats and one with them down and dirty. Let me know if that is the plan. I may be able to send you the two kits to build. 😉
Tell me more about that Idea on Instagram 😁
@@myplasticprojects I don't have Instagram.
How can we connect us?
Great things: Model, vid and music. Nice, rly.
Thanks! Let me know your thoughts on the full build video too :)
Increíble!!
@@agora19671 thank you sir 🫡🤘🏼
Idiots
What a fantastic build, but may I make a suggestion, for those of us that have hearing problems, could lower the background music when you speak as it's hard to understand what you're saying. Well for me anyway it's difficult. But once again what a fantastic build well. Especially love the cockpit.
Yeah I already know my failure about the Music! I’m sorry! 😞 Be sure the music in the next build is better mixed! :) And thank you for the positive feedback though :)
Sorry~ I think its "A-6A", not "A6-A"
You‘re right! Thanks :) I will change the thumbnail. But sad, the intro isn’t changeable 😩
@@SunlightLee thanks for the info! Thumbnail is changed too 🤘🏼
Room for improvement with a few mistakes, but overall a well done model. Good job. 👍🏻 Peace and love.
Maybe some of plastic pArts so maybe.
Love seeing somebody build the Intruder. There are not many vids on it. It would be awesome if you built the EA-6 Prowler next
@@nielsvc7525 I could swear there were more vids of it. So I’m more proud to be one of the few ones :) The Prowler has to wait. Got too many other projects :) but it could be a project in the future 🤘🏼
@myplasticprojects there are sort of a lot but low quality or not my kind of style vids. I like vids with good commentary and some music.
@@nielsvc7525 what a compliment! I hope you enjoyed it even the music was too loud 😩
@myplasticprojects even with the music on full blast, it was a joy to watch haha. I already saw a comment on the music, so I thought there no need to comment on the music again. Love you work and keep it up! 💪🏻🤙🏻
Those fighter planes designs made me think of the film ALIEN AND ALIENS SHIP.
Never heard about that movie. Is the Intruder part of it?
Amazing building 👏👏👏
Thank you 🤘🏼
Hello from france, beautiful model, amazing works and for answer to your question; PE parts of course!!! Thanks for your video.
Thank you very much! Have you ever tried 3D Decals?
@@myplasticprojects not yet, i prefer use PE parts and paint myself, otherwise, where is the pleasure^^
As far as the crumbled brick goes, you are working with foam. Don't be afraid to get in there and work out the areas you want crumbled. That aside... really enjoying your vids.
Thank you for your advice and your compliment! 🤘🏼
Hey guys. Some of you already let me know about the loudness in the video. I‘m feeling so bad the rendering failed with the result. I hope you enjoy the build anyway! Cheers, David 🤘🏼
I thought it was interesting that you put so much detail into the cockpit and the electronics bay, but it looks like you built the wing fold mechanism straight out of the box. I have a picture of the wing fold of an Intruder that I took on the deck of the U.S.S Midway last summer, and it is crammed full of pipes and hydraulic lines. It would have really enhanced an otherwise great build if you had detailed them out as well.
@grahamdriskell6934 yeah you’re right! I think there was a lot of room for improvement! But I hope you like and enjoyed it :)
