I dye my hair silver/purple, but I'm also a professor. Once I had to teach a class for a blue collar company, so I wore a wig with "normal" color hair because I didn't want my hair to be a distraction. People judge, and it sucks. I love my tattoos and hair. It's me. But sometimes I just don't want to deal with the heat. It's reality.

I said that I changed my hair whenever I went out into the field and taught at a very conservative blue collar company. Like I previously stated, it would have been a distraction. It was my decision, just like it was Evie's decision. We are trying to be mature and not make waves where there doesn't need to be any.

Do your thing honey, low key or ultra fancy, regardless what anyone says. I've been doing my own and proudly self taught since high school 1974. Friends keep asking me to do their nails but I just politely decline. My Dr's office receptionists stay asking. Another lady almost lit up Walmart shouting for her friends & family to come look at my nails. My daughter was cracking up. A whole group stopped me in Safeway. Like I bought 3 kits of over 50 colors of sculpting gels and I'm learning to make 3D flowers. There's also a lady on TH-cam who makes beads and flowers out of clay. She also makes the tiny flowers for manicures like you can buy off Amazon...and she's a nail tech!! Keep learning new things & how to do things more than 1 way. Haters always be hating, my sister. Use them to motivate you to make 10 beautiful works of art. But hey, you the bomb 24/7. Its ladies like you that keep me learning and having fun with this hobby.

The best part about their simplicity is that you could still go back and add designs, decals or rhinestones and stuff after the event if you feel like your getting bored of the design. I hope your thumb nail heals back quickly.
I had a pretty significant meeting, and I didn't want my long nails to be a distraction, so I just took them off. It's a blessing to be able to switch it up when doing your own nails. I have learned so much from your channel ❤
Honestly, I think putting acrylic on your thumb should be fine so long as you keep an eye and don't make it too long until it's healed. Just baby it a bit like you have been and it'll be alright.
Can I ask you a question? Are you a nail tech/pro, or a DIY nail person? If you are a DIY’er, and you have experience with both acrylic and polygel, which one do you find easier to work with? I have yet to bite the bullet and get an acrylic kit, but I truly have a hard time with the 1 polygel kit I’ve tried, and I’m wondering if I should stick with it or give acrylic a shot. I’m dexterous enough to be able to do it, I think - the thing that makes polygel hard for me is how STICKY it is! Thanks for reading!
@@marybeth808 I’m a diy-er, and to be honest, it’s much easier to sculpt with polygel. I’m good enough with acrylic now that I have no problem, but, if you’re just starting out, I’d say polygel. The stickiness all varies from company to company. I’ve found my favorite polygel to be the Modelones light apricot. I’m obsessed with the color, and have found their polygels VERY easy to work with. The Makartt polygels are far too sticky, IMO, no matter how much alcohol I use. With all that being said, try with acrylic and see how you do! Experimenting with different products and spending some time learning how to work with everything will be so rewarding for you. Practice makes perfect. Evie’s videos made my life SO much easier ❤️

I can recall back when I first went to nail school (almost 20yrs ago) that there was a brand specifically for melanated nails. It is often difficult for poc to find nail bed covers that match their natural nail bed without looking too pink or having to go for a clear. Thanks for sharing. Blessings.

I’m a 47 year old white woman that wears long blingy nails that I do myself. Lol! There’s a lot of us out there nowadays hitting the country club and events with the long, decorated nails. It’s a thing. You would be perfect either way, but I do understand your thought process and whatever makes you comfortable.💗 My friends were laughing this week because I have the “bloody” nail stickers over nude hard gel. I may have gone a little over the top this time, but I love them and they should know by now.😂

I think all your sets always look amazing. These nails are so pretty and I’d probably wear something similar if I were going to that event. Never mind someone’s gender or the colour of there skin, everyone should be able to wear what they’re comfortable with wether that’s a cute understated look or a complete neon set w/ gems and crystals. You wouldn’t shame someone for wearing a long navy gown to a formal event even if you usually see them in festival outfits that show off there body. Nails are the same! Don’t come at someone because they feel comfortable wearing something that’s different to what you have decided that they should or shouldn’t be comfortable with, cause guess what, your not the one that has to wear them and it’s not your choice. Everyone should have freedom to chose what they wear, skin colour and gender shouldn’t change that.

I did the same thing 3 months ago and found sculpting worked perfectly with holding my nail on better than a tip!! It's growing out looks amazing. Mine was broken even further up than yours 😬🤦🏾♀️ but your set looks beautiful.

I dislike how much others ideas of what/how a person should look/wear interfere with what we like and wear. Your sets have always been so creative and beautiful. I hope that you feel less pressure/less expectations to conform to what others expect so they are comfortable with you. I personally do not think it's fair. I love this set! I love bright and blingy nails and more classici/neutral designs. I love dressing up for different events and think there's nothing wrong with tweaking your nails/outfit for your environment and match the vibe - your personality will still shine.

I used to feel that way about my locs but I quickly got over it. I'm over these European standards for our people but you have to do what's comfortably for you. The nails look good though

I’m a 47 year old white woman that wears long blingy nails that I do myself. Lol! There’s a lot of us out there nowadays hitting the country club and events with the long, decorated nails. It’s a thing. You would be perfect either way, but I do understand your thought process and whatever makes you comfortable.💗 My friends were laughing this week because I have the “bloody” nail stickers over nude hard gel. I may have gone a little over the top this time, but I love them and they should know by now.😂

I think all your sets always look amazing. These nails are so pretty and I’d probably wear something similar if I were going to that event. Never mind someone’s gender or the colour of there skin, everyone should be able to wear what they’re comfortable with wether that’s a cute understated look or a complete neon set w/ gems and crystals. You wouldn’t shame someone for wearing a long navy gown to a formal event even if you usually see them in festival outfits that show off there body. Nails are the same! Don’t come at someone because they feel comfortable wearing something that’s different to what you have decided that they should or shouldn’t be comfortable with, cause guess what, your not the one that has to wear them and it’s not your choice. Everyone should have freedom to chose what they wear, skin colour and gender shouldn’t change that.
