Fun fact regarding the Saturn version. The port was outsourced unlike previous conversions (Virtua Fighter/Cop,etc). In an interview with one of the guys that worked on it said most of what we see in the Saturn version is placeholder models and textures. Ouch. It got the nostalgic feels to it even the janky simulation aiming get me the nostalgic feel of aiming properly if you would mind in my perspective the voice give its new breath of life somehow issues like the lighting and contrast should be fix to make it more scarier for a remake its already good enough
Of course the sega version did not really scare me in anyway because now I realized it was so bright in terms of its ambience of the surroundings on how the game was compared to the switch remake version with upgraded graphics that can create such dark ambience, the game looks much more scarier! But still, nothing beats the feeling of the classic game! Nonetheless, both were and is great!
The original arcade version wasn't nearly as bright as the saturn version. I recall that there were different blood colours on different machines though; sometimes red, and sometimes green (for the enemies).
Also the Saturn version is literally just an alpha (like they didn't even finish developing the Saturn port most of the textures and sprites where placeholders as said by one of the devs at the time.....yikes)
3:30 they ruined chariot. In the original When he shed off this armor and exposed his flesh he looked way scarier. In the remake he looks like a blob. Even they ruined his death cry. Chariot’s death cry in the original scared the shit out of me.
His death cry was recycled to other bosses tbh. Though I do wish they at least kept one for one of the bosses. Chariot would fit since he is the first boss.
Not just that, but the Magician looks a lot less cooler looking (plus I heard they botched the soundtrack). I'd get this if they provided the original version (just to play the OG version mainly), which isn't the case so nope, no thanks. Watching this made me want to go replay the game, been a while.

Remake, you can tell by comparison. Even the animation and voice acting is different even though the whole plot and voice lines are pretty much the same.
For me, it feels like a 50/50, the remake is alright and looks better but you can tell there are some small issues with it. But regardless, I'm glad to see the game come back. I have fond memories of playing it with my dad.
What I really like about the bosses in the first game is that you really get a vendetta against each one and a reason to fight them beyond it just being the logical thing to do. Chariot kills (or at the very least badly wounds) Sophie, Hangedman is the one who takes her in the first place and leads her to Chariot, Hermit stands directly inbetween you and Curien, at a point in the game where you’ve seen a lot of his horrible deeds and Rogan has already built up a severe hatred of him, and Magician kills Curien and denies you your justice for Sophie. The other games don’t really give you as many reasons to be invested in the fights.
Nice bro, great.. 😁👍 Although the remake version has much better graphics, details, and so on, I much prefer the original version. Because I played this game in the original version, I think the original version is far more legendary and imprints on my mind and memories, hehe.. 🙏😁

They were killed by arcades going under as that's where they made their real money, not console sales. They were still making arcade lightgun games well into the mid-00s, long after FPS had solidified itself. The lack of a lightgun does damage the experience quite a bit though. They're about rapid precision shooting, not centering a cursor on enemies.
IN teh remake, some scenes are for me a downgrade comparing to the original, maybe this is because the original source code was lost and they need to make it from scratch?
NO. That's the case with remastered video games. They are usually the same original game but the graphics are upscaled to higher resolution. This HOTD Remake is REMAKE. Everything's is built on scratch because they want to release a new version instead of rerelease the old one.
Graphics improvement on the remake are something truly beautiful, but I gotta admit that the original game's bosses look really terrifying compated to the remake ones
Despite the Switch's limited hardware, this still looks great. Though, I hope they lower the shine a bit. Everything just looks too bright and hurts my eyes.
It looks softer to me. Not that shining unless you turn up your screen brightness up. This remake is built with Unity engine. This kind of graphics are common on Android games
Well the voice acting is better, but still cheesy as hell and read word for word. Just as it should be. 6:11 Acting perfection right here. 8:28 They didn't bother to change the coloration/background effects? *sees zombie sophie* Oh. Well, in that case it fits better for that ending.
I see so many videos lately showing the Saturn version with green blood. Why is everyone changing it to green in the settings? I don't understand the trend.. I play every once in a while but I leave the blood default red
The lighting in the remake is f*cking terrible. The graphics and gameplay may be much better, but that lighting almost ruins it for me. They should've stuck to that grey, drizzly overcast asthetic that the original was going for and just added fog to it. 2:20
I always got the ending where Sophie ran at the screen in the original. Is the "Sophie is a zombie" ending an alternate ending? Like.. a bad ending or something?
Yep, it's a bad ending that you get with less than 62,000 points and a score ending in 0 (no continues used). If your score's one digit is anything other than 0 and you have less than 62,000 points, the ending cuts off with the view of the mansion from the car, leaving Sophie's death implied. If you got more than 62,000 points, you get the good ending where Sophie lives.
Nice, I want to get this asap!! I hope the next Switch system has full compatibility with the entire Switch Library. I do wish the Zombies exploded in chunkier bits like in the original...that feels dissapointing.
I still prefer the old graphics- something charming about the pixelated texture really brings me back. The other one looks like a generic shooter which to be honest not that interesting

While I got my issues with the Saturn port if that's truly the alpha build then wow that's actually seriously impressive.
I am glad they didn’t change the dialogue it appears and hired good voice actors which helps
They lost the original code of the original game that's why they need to hire some voice actors and remake the entire game with their own
It got the nostalgic feels to it even the janky simulation aiming get me the nostalgic feel of aiming properly if you would mind in my perspective the voice give its new breath of life somehow issues like the lighting and contrast should be fix to make it more scarier for a remake its already good enough
Tbh, the ost with this intro is really good
Of course the sega version did not really scare me in anyway because now I realized it was so bright in terms of its ambience of the surroundings on how the game was compared to the switch remake version with upgraded graphics that can create such dark ambience, the game looks much more scarier!
There's always that one fan
Not just that, but the Magician looks a lot less cooler looking (plus I heard they botched the soundtrack). I'd get this if they provided the original version (just to play the OG version mainly), which isn't the case so nope, no thanks.
Watching this made me want to go replay the game, been a while.
@@raccooncitizen3100 I change my mind, Chariot does look weird.
Magician doesn't give much of a threat, in fact, he looks really like a jester that lost his clothe.
Zombies animation feels stiff
It's great that devs made this, but it felt like it need more polishing.
@@amspook sure is
Wow, Rogan and G are looking fly!
I wonder if they'll include the option for having the more cheesy voice acting from the original... Probably not, but it would be neat.
アメリカナイズされてる感じで怖さが無くなってますね、ゾンビの服装も執事っぽいのまでラフな格好になってるし
Loving the new graphics but nothing can beat the old nostalgia graphics
i mean i get the original is always gonna be number 1, but the remakes voice acting sounds more i dunno, dynamic and emotional?
When I was 13, I played HOTD arcade, so, I see that graphics are amazing, these blending and textures graphics, on Saturn, this graphics are textured.
The lightening kills all the mood
OMG,This brings back so much memories 😭😭😭
Oh snap didn't know they were remastering this
It's a remake. Remaster's graphics would not so detailed like this. The textures, models, characters, lighting/shading and environments are built up from scratch, entirely different.
It's a remake bro
@@kirin7725 Well said. I'm getting sick of people who can't tell the difference between a Remake and a Remaster. Because some get mad. So for example here this girl maybe said that this remake is a remaster but some people can say that a Remaster is a Remake. Like the fuckin GTA Trilogy.
Remake, you can tell by comparison. Even the animation and voice acting is different even though the whole plot and voice lines are pretty much the same.
I used to playing this game with my dad when I was 5 years old. Damn I miss the old days
For me, it feels like a 50/50, the remake is alright and looks better but you can tell there are some small issues with it. But regardless, I'm glad to see the game come back. I have fond memories of playing it with my dad.
oh it's been 20 years I didn't heard those dialogues, and yet I am still remember it
What I really like about the bosses in the first game is that you really get a vendetta against each one and a reason to fight them beyond it just being the logical thing to do.
I didn’t even know there was a remake.
Pretty cool.
Looks ok and I wanted to get it as a fan of the series, but lots of impressions are saying the controls aren't very good.
Nice bro, great.. 😁👍
Although the remake version has much better graphics, details, and so on, I much prefer the original version. Because I played this game in the original version, I think the original version is far more legendary and imprints on my mind and memories, hehe.. 🙏😁
I always liked the tour in reverse when you beat the game
Miss my childhood I was started to playing this in 2000
I find it weird that being knocked into a wall and dying from Injury turns people into a zombie.
I think Chariot's blade may have been contaminated by Curien's bioweapon.
@@MrStickman1997 that would make sense because I haven't thought about it
@@simplename1693 well it had blood(probably from other zombies) on it so ig it infected her
On-rails-shooters were killed by FPSs. And you need a light gun to have the full experience

That is the case
NO. That's the case with remastered video games. They are usually the same original game but the graphics are upscaled to higher resolution. This HOTD Remake is REMAKE. Everything's is built on scratch because they want to release a new version instead of rerelease the old one.
This could easily be a PC VR game instead of Nintendo Switch only one.
Care to explain
I think they will port this to other console too later
it's already confirmed it will come out on pc
I honestly love the idea of VR House of the Dead.
@@merimkastrat5846 that would be awesome
It's like Resident Evil models and mixed with GMod models like SFM
The House of the Dead continues to prove that guy with gun > literally any monster.
Dudeeeeee, I remember playing this every Saturday at the Arcades. Awesome game.
Graphics improvement on the remake are something truly beautiful, but I gotta admit that the original game's bosses look really terrifying compated to the remake ones
What about the Player 2 version of the cutscenes when using G?
You took the comment right out of me.
I hope they kept it in the game.
Huge improvement can't wait for this 😉
God this was on a local arcade once all the kids rushed to see who gets to play first now the arcade is gone but the memory is still here
Hahaha that voice line “oh no” “ow”
2:19 I forgot how bad the voice acting was in this game 😂😂😂
Despite the Switch's limited hardware, this still looks great. Though, I hope they lower the shine a bit. Everything just looks too bright and hurts my eyes.
It looks softer to me. Not that shining unless you turn up your screen brightness up. This remake is built with Unity engine. This kind of graphics are common on Android games
Well the voice acting is better, but still cheesy as hell and read word for word.
Just as it should be.
6:11
Acting perfection right here.
8:28
They didn't bother to change the coloration/background effects?
*sees zombie sophie*
Oh. Well, in that case it fits better for that ending.
I see so many videos lately showing the Saturn version with green blood. Why is everyone changing it to green in the settings? I don't understand the trend.. I play every once in a while but I leave the blood default red
Whats is the background song of this video?
The lighting in the remake is f*cking terrible. The graphics and gameplay may be much better, but that lighting almost ruins it for me. They should've stuck to that grey, drizzly overcast asthetic that the original was going for and just added fog to it. 2:20
Awesome, house of the dead is one of my favorite series since i was a kid
Does aiming work with the motion controls or something? How does aiming work?
You can play with the joycons aiming them at the screen. You can also play two player with a joy con each
Still needs s dedicated gun tho
@@craiggeddes7915 is there a camera or something that needs to be set up like with the wii?
How do you set up gyro to work
Man i still remember finished the first and the second game when im still on kindergarten
Good times
I had so much fun with House of the Dead on Saturn. It looks like it was done on an Etch-A-Sketch by comparison today
I wish there was a mode with the og graphics.
They traded clarity for atmosphere, it's not bad but I wished they did both
I think it's because the red filter all over the place
I always got the ending where Sophie ran at the screen in the original.
Is the "Sophie is a zombie" ending an alternate ending? Like.. a bad ending or something?
Yep, it's a bad ending that you get with less than 62,000 points and a score ending in 0 (no continues used). If your score's one digit is anything other than 0 and you have less than 62,000 points, the ending cuts off with the view of the mansion from the car, leaving Sophie's death implied. If you got more than 62,000 points, you get the good ending where Sophie lives.
@@Luigifan18 Oh... Crap..
I'm glad I tried my best then lmao
framerate feels like its dipping some maybe they can patch it
Dude, the first scientist in the remake is literally choking and croaking on his blood
Dr. Curien sounds like Alex Mason’s new voice actor from Black Ops Cold War
I used to play this on my mother's old laptop with other rail shooter games
wooow, no me lo creo, lo remakearon :0 que nostalgia :)
Nice, I want to get this asap!! I hope the next Switch system has full compatibility with the entire Switch Library. I do wish the Zombies exploded in chunkier bits like in the original...that feels dissapointing.
Es genial que sea fiel al original
I'm disgusted that they didn't use the same old cheesy voice clips. That's part of the charm.
I still prefer the old graphics- something charming about the pixelated texture really brings me back. The other one looks like a generic shooter which to be honest not that interesting
Good thing that you can still play it.
Now let newer generations of gamers play something that doesn't insult our eyes.
They love the bloom effects a lot... Omg.
I wonder why Hanged Man said "I'll finish you there" in the remake?
Remake looks cheap and horrible. The original is so much better and stylish.
Yeah but SEGA lost the original code
Can you develop a game with just a few people
