- This video is just me replacing my brake light switch on my 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium. It was an fast, easy, and simply fix. Also my apologies for the video angle if it’s not full screen.

Thanks! This was the exact solution I needed for my 2015 Fusion Titanium. Dealerships around here are so busy they're scheduling service appointments almost a month away so this was truly blessing for me. In addition to potentially draining my battery I was also unable to maintain speed higher than 45 mph once in overdrive. Major inconvenience. Local parts store code finder device identified a brake pedal position sensor code. They didn't have anything in their database specifically for that. I came home & found your video by chance searching Fusion brake light. Amazing!!! Thanks again!
Yessir no problem glad I could help. And that’s another reason why I jus do all my car maintenance or whatever needs to be replaced myself because dealerships are always backed up and sometimes you can’t even trust them.
This was happening to my friends car, brake light remaining on.
Watched your video and it was VERY helpful and easy to watch, there was enough viewing to see what needed to be done, great job. I changed it out...with in a few minutes!! Sad part about that switch going out, people think you are riding your brakes or can't tell when you are slowing down. Appreciate the video!!

If your car wont accelerate over 20 or 40mph and all the back lights are lit up the brake light switch should fix it.
This is EXACTLY what is happening to my car and is the reason I came to youtube. My car won't accelerate past 40. And my brake lights are light up. I'm waiting for auto zone to open tomorrow. Not really sure how to change the switch though but hopefully this does the trick
Hopefully this video helps you out on trying to replace the switch. It’s a pretty easy fix it took me like no more than 5-10 minutes

How did you remove the carpet that’s covering everything up?
It wasn’t any carpet covering it up on mine. I was able to get right to it with no problem or having to remove anything

Also remember this is apart of a set of open recalls for the Fusion line so the dealership should be able to do this for free but if your dealership is anything like mine that could anywhere from two weeks to a month out and I don’t have that time to wait😂
Exactly I didn’t either and it was a cheap part and easy to replace so I just did it myself 😂
The new switch won't work until it is properly installed. Installation releases the switch plunger. You can't test the new switch without installing it.

Bro I'm having the same problem
I just found this problem on my sisters 2016 fusion. Brake lights stay on, battery low, goes into limp home mode. Charging the batt overnite, will check switch tomorrow.
It’s more than likely the switch like on mine in the video and it’s jus draining the battery because the lights stay on when the car is off. Now idk why it’s going into limp mode, do you have a check engine light on?

My car (2015 Ford Fusion Titanium) had the same issues as yours. My car would not accelerate properly, engine sounded fine but it would drop rpms any time I would get up to around 35-45 miles an hour. The brake lights wouldn’t cut off and I got the hill start aid unavailable message too. Come to find out it’s the brake light switch. When it shorts out or goes bad it sends voltage to the ECM which in turn causes the “limp” mode; all of this occurring without fault codes. Super thankful for this video on replacing it as it saved me a major headache!!

Do you know what each rear light on this car is for? I know the outer tail is for the signal and brake light but what is the inner tail light for?
The outer taillight is jus like a park light which only comes on the Titanium trim models and the inner is the brake light and turn signal
Is the white part of your rear light the reverse light? I have the SE and the lights look like yours and on mine the outer side of the light that’s not connected to the trunk is my signal/brake light. I’m trying to learn my car but I don’t see the parts of the light labeled in the manual
Nvm I just realized what you meant when you referred to the outer light 💀 I’m trying to figure out what the piece of the light that’s actually connected to the trunk is called and what it’s for

@@lastgoodwomanonearth yes the white part that’s on the trunk is the reverse light. And ok that’s fine any questions you have I’ll be able to answer it. I’ve had the car for years and worked on a lot of them

Omg helped me so much i was stranded. My car couldn't go uphill across a bridge. So had to get it towed. Find out this is what the issue was and it was a quick cheap fix.

Hi I like the video, just a question what are the causes of this failure
Well it was basically a recall so it’s mainly just on Ford part of not making a good built quality brake switch. So it can happen whenever you press you brake the switch will jus get stuck and it will keep the lights on and sometimes it will tend to actually use the brakes which will mess up your acceleration
