Liverpool, The Cathedral

The first thing that hits you when you visit Liverpool Cathedral is the sheer size of the interior. It is absolutely huge!! Not only can you visit the Cathedral but you can go up the tower. The views up there are amazing and you also get to see the bells on the way up. I made a video of this which I will show separately, but you can see out on all four sides for miles on a good day.
There are actually two Cathedrals. This one which is the Anglican one and the other one, a Catholic one. (Often referred to as the 'Wigwam' because of its shape.
What also surprised me about this Cathedral was the fact that it took over 70 years to build and just how relatively recently it was completed. (In the 70's)
It has the largest church organ in the country with two manuals. One at ground level and the other up in the air, closer to the pipes. The stained glass windows are also the biggest in the country. When you see them, they are so bright and colourful that the throw coloured light down into the Cathedral floor.
The 'Whispering Column' is hilarious and you'd be surprised not only 'what' you hear, but 'what' is being said!!!!!

An enjoyable little trio of vids Ian. I have relatives there who used to drive up to Scotland for the holidays. I always admired the Knotty Ash accent. Lots of public spaces from what you showed us, looks fun.

Thank you David. We had a brilliant time in Liverpool. The video doesn’t really show the ‘mad’ moments but we will be going back because we didn’t manage to do everything that we wanted to do. I’ve been there in the past but just fleeting visits via hotels while touring. Never really got to actually see the place! Also, Dave was a scream.
